From the moment Longze Jing Tian appeared, he (FC) felt the way this man looked at Murong Qi Qi was very different. As a man, meeting a woman he liked and how he looked at her, Feng Cang had already experienced it. So, he understood.
Although Li Yun Qing’s gaze was also not right, but he didn’t express it. Longze Jing Tian looked like someone who had their favorite toy taken away and was now feeling regret. There’s a strong predatory taste. It’s a gaze of when a hunter encountered a prey! Could it be that he regretted it? However, now Murong Qi Qi was his wangfei. This shameless person. He wanted to incite disharmony in their relationship!
TL note: At first, I thought a literary challenge was like competing with poems or something like that. But it turned out that literary challenge was also about fighting. The only difference is that literary challenge doesn’t use inner energy and martial arts challenge does. Chapter 86 The duel of life and death (2)
Not waiting for Longze Jing Tian to say more nonsense, Feng Cang gave him who was standing in the middle, a kick and pulled Murong Qi Qi into his arms. He used action to show ownership of this woman.
“Jing wang, please mind your words a bit. First of all, princess Zhao Yang is benwang’s wangfei. This fact will never change. Benwang will cherish her like how I cherish my eyes. Don’t need you to worry about it. Second, this is princess Zhao Yang’s and Guli’s duel. Benwang as princess Zhao Yang’s husband will wholeheartedly support and believe her. Benwang won’t doubt any decision princess Zhao Yang makes. Third, no matter how benwang is, Jing wang can’t control it. She is benwang’s wangfei. Jing wang, please remember your identity.”
Feng Cang’s words were overbearing and arrogant. Immediately, Longze Jing Tian’s expression turned bad. However, what can he do? It’s him who gave up on Murong Qi Qi. It’s he who personally pushed Murong Qi Qi to others. All fault lay on him and has nothing to do with others.
It’s just, he couldn’t accept it, he just couldn’t accept it!
The strange atmosphere between the two wang’s spread out. A smoke of a fight will break out made the whole scene exceptionally quiet. Everyone stared at Feng Cang and Longze Jing Tian.
These two, one is Bei Zhou’s Nan Lin wang; the other is Xi Qi’s Jing wang. Their relation became so troubled, was actually because of princess Zhao Yang, making everyone’s gaze once again fell onto Murong Qi Qi.
Features are ordinary, medium pretty. What does she have to let two of the world’s most outstanding men have a dispute because of her? Could it be that now the taste of men changed? Now they like the ones like Murong Qi Qi?
The people at the scene have heard about the matter of Murong Qi Qi being rejected. It’s this Jing wang who wrote the breaking engagement letter. Collecting Figurines in the Apocalypse But now looking at him, could he has regretted? However, in the world there’s no medicine for regret! Not to mention, everyone could see the love in Feng Cang’s and Murong Qi Qi’s eyes. What did Longze Jing Tian mean by this? Want to slander Feng Cang’s reputation to get the beauty’s heart? This thing is not easy to handle!
The atmosphere became awkward because of the two’s dispute. Just as when everyone was waiting to see how Longze Jing Tian will continue to ‘protect’ Murong Qi Qi, Murong Qi Qi kowtowed slightly at Longze Jing Tian: “Thanking Jing wang for your care! It’s just I accepted this duel willingly and has nothing to do with wangye. Asking Jing wang to not misunderstand wangye because of me.”
Murong Qi Qi’s attitude was very clear. Every sentence was protecting Feng Cang. The tangling hearts of the commoners were now completely relaxed. That’s right! No matter how good Jing wang is, how could he be better than their wangye?! Princess Zhao Yang has good eyes!
Everyone forgot about those rumors of Feng Cang. To the people, this is a battle for princess Zhao Yang’s hand between Bei Zhou’s and Xi Qi’s wangye. As Bei Zhou’s citizens, naturally they hope Feng Cang wins. This is now related to the nation’s sense of honor. And now, Murong Qi Qi’s resolute attitude made the good feelings people have for her went to a level higher!
The battle between the two men ended with Feng Cang winning the beauty! The couple, Feng Cang and Murong Qi Qi, already got the recognition of the people. And this, made Guli extremely upset. She couldn’t help but knock on the table with the hilt of her dagger.
“Hey, hey, hey, are we still dueling or not? Don’t waste my time!”
“Duel,” Feng Cang and Murong Qi Qi said at the same time. Murong Qi Qi signed her name and put a thump print on the life and death agreement. Then she handed the agreement at Guli. Guli swept over it once and humphed coldly. She also wrote her name and put her print on it.
“Let’s go out and duel. Here, there are too many people and the place is too narrow. It won’t be good if we injure an innocent person.”
After saying that, Murong Qi Qi walked to the outside. Guli has no requirements for the site, so she also went out.
Princess Zhao Yang and Nan Feng’s participant would duel spread throughout Cyclamen and the surroundings shop. Everyone flicked to the streets to watch. looking at the two women in red, the commoners began to talk about them.
“I heard princess Zhao Yang doesn’t know martial arts. Now she signed the agreement between life and death, what will she do later? Is there now not only death waiting for her?”
“Wangye finally encountered a woman he loves, how would he let something happen to her?! Rest assured, wangye will certainly help her!”
“Although princess Zhao Yang is not as beautiful as that prostitute, but she’s more pleasing to the eyes. I still hope princess Zhao Yang wins!”
Guli’s hearing is not bad. Obviously, the evaluation the people has for Murong Qi Qi was higher than hers. Also, there were some people wishing for Murong Qi Qi to win. This point let her particularly not happy. How could she lost to a rubbish?! Absolutely impossible!
The streets were covered with a thick layer of snow. Murong Qi Qi and Guli were only ten meters apart. Both were in red. However, Guli looked hot and seductive, while Murong Qi Qi looked like a red flower in the snow with a very noble aura.
A long voice let all the onlookers quieted down. The duel was about to begin. Everyone’s heart was like in their throats and wanted to see what the result of this duel will be. Although everyone hoped for Murong Qi Qi to win, but the reality was not controlled by people’s mind.
Guli’s weapon is a two-edged sword which was black without a trace of decoration. It’s a very good sword. And Murong Qi Qi’s weapon was just a red muslin.
When Murong Qi Qi took out her weapon, everyone was startled.
The opponent is using a good sword, why did Murong Qi Qi came out with a red muslin? Can this soft muslin be able to withstand a sword?
Seeing Murong Qi Qi’s ‘weapon’, Guli laughed.
“Lady, this is a duel and not a dance show. You came up with a muslin; is it that you are half-heartedly having this duel or is it that you’re playing a joke on me?”
“Just now, I said your head has a problem, it indeed has a problem! Being halfhearted or playing a joke, is this not in your advantage?! Dealing with you, a big breasted without brain milk cow, I only need to think with my toes. Taking a weapon out will be like lifting your level up!”
Murong Qi Qi’s poisonous tongue let Guli choke.
“Very well! I will see if you’ve real ability or not!”
A breeze passed. Guli like a red frog stepping on the snow, went up at Murong Qi Qi. That black sword against the snow background truly have a cold aura. The first attack was already explosive strong. Everyone’s heart temporarily stopped beating. This is bad! This time princess Zhao Yang be ruined!
Everyone was worried about Murong Qi Qi’s safety, but this woman didn’t move a bit. She stood quietly on the snow as if she isn’t aware of the danger.
“Be careful……,” Li Yun Qing couldn’t help but shout. It’s just that his voice just fell, Guli was already in front of Murong Qi Qi.
“Ah……,” Seeing that Murong Qi Qi still didn’t dodge, Guli laughed evilly. Like this, she will get her head with one stroke! Let this arrogant woman go meet the king of hell.
Not waiting for Guli to finish, Murong Qi Qi moved sideways and went through Guli’s empty left hand to Guli’s back. The person who was in front of her just now, suddenly disappeared made Guli’s heart startled. Then she felt pan at her butt. Murong Qi Qi directly kicked at her rounded butt. This kick was extremely neat and the power was violent. Guli staggered and fell on the ground with her face down.
“The first strike, kick the evil dog!”
Murong Qi Qi clapped and put her hands on her waist. Her appearance looked cute as if she didn’t see Guli’s embarrassment.
Guli fell very tragically and the name Murong Qi Qi gave this strike was extremely funny. The people whose heart was originally hanging, laughed out loudly. Immediately, the atmosphere eased down.
Li Yun Qing laughed while shaking his head. How could he has forgotten that this girl’s kungfu on kicking people is very good? In the past, she kicked Duanmu Yi Yi in the lake. He didn’t expect that now she will resort to this at her first stroke.
It’s just, is that stroke really that simple? At that moment, they were so close. She flashed to Guli’s back with such a speed and also used such a strength to kick the other side; is this Murong Qi Qi really someone who doesn’t even have the strength to trust a chicken? The doubts in Li Yun Qing’s heart once again expanded. The way he looked at Murong Qi Qi became more profound.
“Cough, cough, cough!”
Guli drank a mouthful of blood. She stood up and immediately spit it out. However, the face because of the violent collision with the ground, became very red. It looked like there was a red biscuit hanging on her face. It looked very funny and her appearance reduced with five points. And at her naval cavity, she felt two stream of warmth. The next moment, two rows of nosebleed sprayed out tainting her lips and chin.
“Are you really a contestant of Nan Feng? How come you are so useless? You didn’t use bribery to become a contestant, right? You bragged so much, but in fact you are not much, ah!”
Murong Qi Qi took the opportunity to be sarcastic at Guli, making Guli so angry her whole body trembled. She wiped the blood on her nose, pulled two clothes to plug in her nose. The sword in her hand once again raised.
“Bitch! I’m going to kill you!”
Guli jumped. The sword in her hand stabbed in the direction of Murong Qi Qi. She looked like a red arc in a painting, rushing at Murong Qi Qi. However, she didn’t get near to Murong Qi Qi yet, when Murong Qi Qi turned, stepped on the snow and left the dangerous place.
Murong Qi Qi’s posture was very light. The jump looking like a running deer in the wilderness. The murderous aura in Guli intensified. That red figure chased after Murong Qi Qi, pressing harder and harder.
Two red dots like a race, chased in the snow. Murong Qi Qi didn’t fight, so Guli could only chase. Murong Qi Qi seemed to be deliberately teasing Guli. She went around a circle in the snow repeatedly. She only dodged. From time to time, in the air came the laughter of Murong Qi Qi with was like music as if this wasn’t a life and death duel but a play of catch me if you can.
“Till when do you want to dodge?! If you have the guts, then duel with me!”
Although Guli practice martial arts and she has a good condition, but after running in a circle for a dozen times, she was sure Murong Qi Qi was playing with her. She’s clearly delaying time and didn’t want to fight with her!
After ten laps, plus the fact that her rib was broken by Feng Cang, Guli’s breathing obviously became a lot shorter. She kept breathing and the chest also felt painful because of this. Despicable! Looking at the not far away laughing Murong Qi Qi, Guli cursed in her heart. She (MQQ) obviously knew her rib was broken and need a quick fix, but Murong Qi Qi didn’t fight with her. Instead, she (MQQ) consumed her (G) physical strength. Really too despicable!
The tactic that was despicable in Guli’s heart, when they entered Feng Cang’s eyes, it became appreciation.
Waste the other party’s strength. When the other party is so exhausted, kill her with one move. This is indeed the best way. Feng Cang didn’t expect that Murong Qi Qi will use the tactic on chess in an actual duel. Really a smart little woman! The way Feng Cang looked at Murong Qi Qi became gentler.
Now, Guli was panting. Every time, she breathed, her chest will be badly in pain. Really a despicable villain! Guli gritted her teeth and looked at Murong Qi Qi.
Seeing the expression of wanting to eat someone on Guli’s face, Murong Qi Qi laughed.
“Yo, what’s the matter? Exhausted? Just now who wanted to duel with me so much? How come now, we haven’t even warmed up, you’re already tired? How can this be, ah?! I still have one hundred and eighty strokes which I didn’t show yet! You need to stay alive till that time, ah!”
Ruyi stood behind Feng Cang and almost choked. Who said wangfei is gentle and pleasant, dignified and virtuous? Such a poisonous tongue, even going beyond Jin Mo. Who has taught wangfei such eloquence?!
“F**** your mother!”
Finally, Guli burst out foul language.
“The one who will die here today, will be you! I took a fancy on Feng Cang! When you’re dead, I will serve Feng Cang in your place! No man will like those like you without butt and without breast! I will certainly serve him well till he’s happy and let him immediately forget about you!”
Long Duo at a side saw Guli lose control like that, he frowned. How come Guli is so easily angered? Could it be she doesn’t know that being angry is the biggest taboo of a duel?! Although Murong Qi Qi still didn’t show her ability, but someone who knows to delay time, how could she be the rubbish from the rumors?!
“Go quickly and find young master Helan! Say something happened to Guli and is waiting for young master to come and help!”
Long Duo ordered the subordinate next to him. That man immediately flew away from the duel site.
Guli said so many big words to anger Murong Qi Qi and let her give up on running into circles to fight with her. She didn’t expect that Murong Qi Qi truly stopped and walked step by step towards her (G).
It’s just, why did Guli feel now that Murong Qi Qi is somewhat different? She changed her laughing expression. Her whole expression turned cold and the cold aura emitting from Murong Qi Qi made Guli very shocked. Such an aura, could she really be an ordinary person?
Originally, Murong Qi Qi wanted to play a bit more with Guli and exhaust her. Then take her life. She didn’t think that she’ll (G) pull Feng Cang inside this, made Murong Qi Qi very unhappy. Her man can only be hers, Murong Qi Qi’s! The other party not only want her man, but also want to take her position. This was something Murong Qi Qi couldn’t tolerate.
Guli didn’t know she touched Murong Qi Qi’s bottom line. Seeing Murong Qi Qi coming at her, she also prepared to fight. She intended to take down Murong Qi Qi’s head. She didn’t expect Murong Qi Qi to leap up and the red muslin in her hand waved. She was like the ninth fairy coming down at earth in front of her (G).
Only when Long Duo’s voice reached over, did Guli awaken from the surprise. She was too late to dodge. So, she could only fell sideways on the ground and rolled to a safe place.
The red muslin hit the ground. The snowflakes splashed, revealing the original black paving slab.
The slab cracked.
The crack became bigger and the whole stone crushed into powder.
Shock! Everyone looked foolishly at that aloof woman. Only a red muslin was able to burst out such a powerful force? If it fell onto a person’s body……everyone couldn’t help but look compassionate at Guli. Fortunately, this woman dodged fast, otherwise, she would’ve been seriously injured.
The breaking of the slab also let Guli shiver. What kind of horrifying force is this? Her (MQQ) didn’t have any inner energy. How come she has such a powerful force to actually crush the slab of the road? The thought that if it wasn’t because of Long Duo’s reminder, all her bones would’ve been crushed, Guli’s whole body shivered. Her vigilance also increased to the highest level.
Murong Qi Qi didn’t give Guli the opportunity to breathe. That red muslin seemed to come to life in her hands. It danced in the sky. And Murong Qi Qi’s feminine body was enveloped in the red muslin. On the white snow, a beauty in red danced with the red muslin. Dancing as if she came from a beautiful painting in front of everyone.
Very beautiful……Li Yun Qing was dazed. He couldn’t help but take out his jade flute and played the song .
Murong Qi Qi followed the music and danced with the beat. In the sky, the long red muslin make a beautiful picture. The next moment, the red muslin fell next to Guli. Like the previous time, the stone slab cracked and crushed into powder. The gentle and beautiful scene was gone and revealed a sharp murderous aura.
Guli dodged in a sorry state on the snow. The red muslin in Murong Qi Qi seemed to have wings and repeatedly flew at her. No matter where she falls, the red muslin will chase immediately. Not a bit at a side, it just hit the place where she was standing, making it so she couldn’t help but ‘escape’.
Suddenly it began to snow. This little bit of white made the woman dancing in the snow livelier. Her face had a gentle smile and danced a moving dance on the snow, but the force in her hand didn’t lessen a bit. She pressed harder and harder, making it so that there’s no way for Guli to escape anymore.
The people forgot that this is a duel between life and death. Everyone was immersed in Murong Qi Qi’s wonderful dance. White snow, red soul and that essence of the red soul is that dancing woman.
She looked like a fairy who fell into the mortal world. Because of the greed for the earthly good, she forgot to return to heaven. She danced and used that piece of red muslin to tell her fondness of the world. What a wonderful woman! Inside everyone’s heart rose such a thought. They all looked quietly at Murong Qi Qi and didn’t dare to make a sound as if, if they made a sound they will alert that fairy.
The only person who felt bitterness was Guli. The eyes of the people were gentle and pure. The fairy like Murong Qi Qi was a demon in her eyes. This woman didn’t intend to leave her a wat of life. Everywhere, where she stood has been hit by the red muslin in Murong Qi Qi’s hand. All those slabs turned into pieces. How brutal is this force? How terrifying!
To be able to operate such a soft muslin and using this soft muslin to burst such a force, is this woman really the rubbish who doesn’t know martial arts from the rumors?!
At this time, Li Yun Qing’s sound of the flute became higher. And the red muslin in Murong Qi Qi’s hand suddenly exuded a ferocious murderous aura.
In the headquarters of the Snowy Lotus Cult, located in Huyue County of Qingzhou:
“Teacher.” Li Jun, dressed in a purple cloak, said as she bowed courteously to the High Priestess of the Snowy Lotus Cult.
“Little Jun, this is the Sovereign.” The High Priestess of the Snowy Lotus Cult said with respect.
Li Jun lost her breath as she thought to herself, “This man is the Sovereign? The Sovereign of the Heavenly God Palace?” Li Jun peeked at the man beside High Priestess of the Snowy Lotus Cult. This was a chubby, middle-aged man with pale skin and a friendly smile. His gaze was like the vast starry sky, seemingly able to lure people into it.
“Little Jun!” the High Priestess of the Snowy Lotus Cult shouted deeply.
Li Jun snapped out of her daze and hastily bowed, “Pleased to meet the Sovereign.”
“Haha, our Heavenly God Palace’s master of the beast language is so young, and furthermore, to have stepped into the Innate Realm while you’re still so young, very impressive,” complimented Pei San, “and you have a very powerful husband, Li Jun. Did you know your husband has an Emptiness Ream demonic beast?”
“I just found out recently,” replied Li Jun courteously. She was secretly proud of him as she thought to herself, “Hmph, shocked by this? If you knew that Jing Yi was in fact Teng Qingshan, perhaps you would all be so surprised your eyeballs would fall out.”
“Mhmm,” Pei San nodded his head, smiling.
“Your husband is the Foreign Dignitary of the Heavenly God Palace. Yet, I have never met him. Let’s go… Li Jun, follow me and your teacher to meet your husband.” Pei San said with a smile. Originally, he had planned to meet Jing Yi after the destruction of Hong Tian City, but since he found out that Jing Yi had a very powerful demonic beast, he had decided to change his plans.
“Go see Hu He?” Li Jun was surprised.
“Little Jun, are you not leaving?” The High Priestess of the Snowy Lotus Cult hastily approached Li Jun and dragged her disciple along.
Immediately, the High Priestess and Li Jun followed Pei San and they flew towards Yangzhou.

The doctor paused for a while before adding, ” The main reason for the miscarriage were the sleeping pills.”
Lu Jinnian froze, his face paling.
“Besides, the kind of sleeping pills that she is taking has a component that would cause the user to become unconscious, causing her to still be asleep now.
“During the operation, I gave your wife an anesthesia shot. That shot along with the her sleeping pills would let her sleep for a long while more. If she’s fine after she wakes up, she can go home, but she may still be a little weak, so do make sure she has plenty of rest. After the surgery, she’ll bleed for about a week. If the bleeding doesn’t stop, you must come back for a check up.”
The doctor had said a lot and had tried to concise his words, but once he saw Lu Jinnian’s expression, he hesitated and tried to comfort him.
“Mr. Lu, I hope you won’t blame yourself even though you are upset. The fact that the child is here means that you have made an effort with the mutual consent to not use any preventive measures. You might be upset to have lost a child, but your wife will definitely feel even worse, since it’s a mother’s nature.
“Besides, if she were to know that she had caused the death of her child, she would feel guilty. That’s why I decided to inform you about it beforehand, so that she won’t be in shock when she finds out after she wakes up.”
Lu Jinnian couldn’t explain the negativity in his heart. He felt in pain and lost, but his eyes stared calmly at the doctor. Mustering up a lot of energy, he murmured, “Yea, I understand.” After a bit, he added, “Thank you.”
The doctor nodded formally then retreated with the others from the ward, leaving him alone and in silence.
The lights in the ward were dim and yellow, blurring his vision. He stood at the same spot for a long time before turning to look at Qiao Anhao, who was lying on the bed. She had just been through a surgery. Her face was pale but peaceful, unaware of the tragedy that had just happened.
If she were to find out that she had lost a child in her dreams and that the child died because of the sleeping pills that she had taken, what would she do?
Be upset? Regret it? Break down? Or would she be devastated?
In that instance, Lu Jinnian’s mind was filled with the image of Qiao Anhao crying sadly. His heart clenched, and the the nurse’s and doctor’s words echoed in his head.
“Let’s not talk about the damage done to a body after a miscarriage… As a mother, if she knew that her own child had silently passed away, she’d probably be heartbroken to death!”
“You might be upset to have lost a child, but your wife will definitely feel even worse, since it’s a mother’s nature.”
Feel even worse… When he found out that his child had died, he felt as though every cell in his body had exploded; he had never felt such pain in his life. Chapter 330: I am Sorry (10)

She would feel even worse, how bad would that be?
Just the thought of it made him shudder, making him blame himself more.
They were right, it was indeed his mistake. He had loved her for so many years, and every single time they did it, it seemed like a dream. He never remembered to take contraceptive measures and she had also forgotten, causing the tragedy today.
When they were still in school, boys from his dorm had also had an active sex life, but none of them had ended up killing a life.
He remembered in one physical education lesson, a girl was not aware of her pregnancy and had participated in a marathon. In the last round, she started bleeding heavily. Afterwards, she realized that she had miscarried.
That was back in high school, and the incident had severely damaged the reputation of their school. In the end, the girl was forced to leave. When she left with her belongings, her eyes were red and swollen, but the guy had found another girlfriend soon after. Every time the incident was brought up, the girl would be blamed for her indecency.
There was another time in college, the guy that was living below his bunk bed, who had a relatively good background, had managed to get together with the most popular girl from the Chinese department. She had aborted three times because of him, but he had never cared, even showing off to the others when he got drunk. After he had graduated, he had dumped her, but by then, she wasn’t able to get pregnant anymore.
At that time, he didn’t pay attention to any of those gossips, but today, after Qiao Anhao had a miscarriage and had to have an abortion, the memories seemed to come flooding into his mind.
Back then, he didn’t care, he just felt that the guys were jerks and the girls were pitiful. He had even sworn that if he managed to get together with Qiao Anhao, he would never let her endure such darkness, he would give her the best that he could.
And yet he still allowed her to endure such a tragedy…
If he hadn’t touched her, if he had been able to control himself, if he had thought to take contraceptive measures… If he had thought about pregnancy nausea few days ago when he had touched her… if…
Lu Jinnian’s hands clenched into fists, his throat tight and choked up.
Such a tragedy could have been prevented in so many ways, but he hadn’t taken any.
He had let her down.
He had failed to give her the perfect life that he had promised.
Lu Jinnian stayed up the entire night, guarding beside Qiao Anhao’s bed.
As the doctor had mentioned, the anesthesia lasted a long time. She slept for a long time with no signs of waking. Halfway through, the doctor visited but left without saying much more than that she was in deep sleep.
The next day at 7 am, Lu Jinnian called his assistant to drive him and Qiao Anhao back to Mian Xiu Garden.
Madam Chen was already awake. When she saw the car, she ran out to greet them. Lu Jinnian carried Qiao Anhao, who was fast asleep, upstairs, into their room.
With concern, Madam Chen asked, “Mr. Lu, what’s wrong with Mrs. Lu?” Chapter 535: Cage Battle Arena

The corners of Duan Ling Tian’s mouth twitched and he was slightly embarrassed.
Never had he imagined that the grade six spirit weapon glove of the Dragon and Phoenix Academy’s Vice Dean, Chi Ming, was actually refined by the Guild Master of the Azure Forest Imperial Kingdom’s Weapons Craftsmen Main Guild, Luo Rong.
“Master, you’re refining a grade four spirit weapon for Chi Ming?” Luo Rong took a deep breath and his eyes contained slight envy mixed within.
Duan Ling Tian nodded. “Yes, I owe him a favor.”
Luo Rong came to a sudden understanding.
Although he was curious what favor did Duan Ling Tian owe Chi Ming, he knew what he should ask and what he shouldn’t.
“I’m starting.” Duan Ling Tian nodded to Luo Rong then started.
Profound weapons refinement techniques came freely in Duan Ling Tian’s hands, and it was as if he was assisted by the gods.
For the sake of taking care of Luo Rong, Duan Ling Tian intentionally slowed down.
In next to no time, Duan Ling Tian withdrew the pile of materials including the seven materials Chi Ming had found for him.
“This is Thousand Year Ice? This is a 10,000 year old Turtle Shell? This is…” The Good-For-Nothing Cultivator As the Guild Master of the Weapons Craftsmen Main Guild, Luo Rong had excellent sight, and he quickly recognized these rare materials.
“Looks like that fellow Chi Ming went through a lot of trouble for the grade four spirit weapon!” Luo Rong thought in his heart.
Luo Rong quickly returned to his senses and watched Duan Ling Tian refine seriously.
After spending an entire morning, Duan Ling Tian had finally completed the refinement of the grade four spirit weapon glove he promised Chi Ming.
When Duan Ling Tian wore the glove and his Origin Energy raged.
4,800 lifelike ancient mammoth silhouettes condensed into form in the sky.
“60% amplification again!” Luo Rong’s pupils constricted when he saw this scene.
Duan Ling Tian nodded in satisfaction as he’d finally completed his promise to Chi Ming.
Subsequently, Duan Ling Tian put away the glove and wore a light azure ring on his right index finger…
This wasn’t a Spatial Ring, but was instead the grade four spirit weapon Duan Ling Tian refined for himself.
With a raise of his hand, the tempest point force condensed and tore through the sky, and it pierced through the window on the third floor before it shook towards the sky outside.
Above Duan Ling Tian, 5,800 ancient mammoth silhouettes condensed into form.
This time, the reason there as an extra strength of 1,000 ancient mammoths compared to before was because Duan Ling Tian utilized his Half-step Advanced Lightning Force and Half-step Advanced Wind Force at the same time.
“This is an offensive spirit weapon?” Luo Rong was dumbstruck.
He’d seen it clearly when Duan Ling Tian refined this ring earlier.
He originally thought it was only a Spatial Ring, but unexpectedly, this was actually an offensive spirit weapon. Moreover, it was a grade four offensive spirit weapon that provided a 60% amplification!
Duan Ling Tian spun the azure colored ring on his hand with satisfaction, and he revealed a smile on his face.
For the afternoon, Duan Ling Tian continued to guide Luo Rong in the Dao of Weapons Refinement.
Whereas Luo Rong improved by leaps and bounds when compared to before.
At dusk, Luo Rong reluctantly send Duan Ling Tian to the stairway on the third floor. “Master, take care.”
Duan Ling Tian nodded, then left the Weapons Craftsmen Guild and returned to Dragon and Phoenix Academy.
In the following days, besides cultivating in the academy, Duan Ling Tian would leave the academy every month to guide Luo Rong in the Dao of Weapons Refinement at the Weapons Craftsmen Guild…
The remaining time was almost all spent on the various experience missions issued by the academy.
As expected, Duan Ling Tian obtained the first in every single mission issued by the academy!
But unfortunately, the missions issued by the academy later on didn’t have any rewards like the Void Refining Fruit.
The points Duan Ling Tian collected were all exchanged for various materials.
As for cultivation methods, martial skills, spirit weapons, and medicinal pills, he utterly had no need for them.
Time flew by.
In the blink of an eye, only half a month remained to the genius competition of the Azure Forest Imperial Kingdom.
At that time, the people who ranked in the top five of the genius competition would obtain the qualification to head to Darkstone Empire’s Imperial City and compete with the young geniuses of the Darkstone Empire and the various Imperial Kingdoms.
If they were able to become eminent in the Darkstone Empire, they would be able to head to the Darkhan Dynasty to compete for the qualification to participate in the Martial Competition of the Ten Dynasties!
There was a vast space at the northern area of the Imperial City.
Beta nodded, the elder then said, “All bags are the same?” Beta nodded again. The elder immediately told Beta, “Go ask Zhao Hai to come over.” Beta did not say anything, he immediately went outside in haste.
The elder slowly sat down, but his eyes never left the bamboo rice on the ground, such good rice, he has never seen them before in his life. If Zhao Hai supplies this rice, not to mention half price, even if he doubles the price the elder would still be willing to trade.
Before long, the sound of footsteps can be heard outside the tent, after which Beta and Zhao Hai walked in. This time the elder acted very polite. He got up and saluted to Zhao Hai, “Welcome Mister Zhao, please take a sit.” Zhao Hai didn’t dare to act big, he returned the elder’s salute, he then went towards the elder’s right side and sat down.
This is the way humans show respect, Zhao Hai sitting on the elder’s right side shows an act of modesty. This gave the elder a very good impression. After Zhao Hai sat down, the elder looked at Zhao Hai, “For Mister Zhao to bring us such high quality grain, I am very deeply grateful for that.”
Zhao Hai quickly responded. “Elder is too polite, to get into the elder’s graces, this Zhao Hai is honored.”
The elder actually didn’t care about Zhao Hai’s modesty, he looked at Zhao Hai and asked, “Mister has such good quality grain, but why sell it to us at such a low price? I ask Mister Zhao to clear my doubts about this.”
Zhao Hai showed a faint smile as he replied, “There is nothing to complex about it, there are actually only two reasons. First, because these grains are my territories’ produce, therefore the price is very low. Second, is because I have just arrived at the prairie, and seeing the the prairie operates on an open market, the prices would be naturally low, of course, this does not mean that my price would increase later, be assured elder, my food price wouldn’t change.”
The elder looked at Zhao Hai and nodded. Zhao Hai’s response was justified. The elder continued towards Zhao Hai, “How much grain could Mr. Zhao supply this year?”
Zhao Hai frowned and said, “Only 15 million pounds, my ability to transport is currently very limited, moreover I can only trade this month, after this month winter would arrive. At which point I would probably return to my territory, thus I cannot transport food here.”
The elder gave an understanding nod, humans after all would need to return to their homes. It would be impossible for them to wade the winter with the beastmen race, they are not used to that kind of life, but 15 million jin of grain wouldn’t be too less upon further calculation.
Zhao Hai looked at the elder and smiled, “Elder, I don’t know if I would be fortunate enough to meet with West Wonder King? In order to discuss the possibility of cooperation next year?”
The elder paused for a moment, then he replied, “I don’t have authority for this, I will report your inquiry to the prince, tomorrow I shall give you a reply.”
Zhao Hai nodded, he looked at the elder and said, “There is another thing that I want to talk with elder, now that my men has delivered the grain, they need to leave immediately, can you look to see if I can get the payment for this batch of grain? To save me trouble of bringing them myself.”
The elder paused, then he nodded and said, “Not a problem, but these things needs to be readied, you’ll have to wait for a day. What payment does mister want? Do you want all of them to be argali?”
Zhao Hai shook his head, “No, actually, I was going to talk to the elder about this matter. We have a few elders in the family, they are potion masters as well as alchemists. You should know, they like to collect special ingredients. Therefore, if possible, I’d want some special magic beasts and magic plants, if you were to offer your tribe’s unique magic beast that would be better. Of course, we still would accept Argali as well as wool products as payment, I ask the elder to look into these matters.”
The elder didn’t think that Zhao Hai would have a special request. He looked at Zhao Hai and said, “Mister’s meaning is, if we were to exchange the grains with some fighting bulls of our clan, then you’d offer a high price? What about magic beasts?” [TN: not the Fighting Bull clansmen but instead their ‘cousin’ Fighting Bull beast]
Zhao Hai hastily replied, “Be assured elder, I’d offer the same high price for magic beasts, but the quantities of these beasts couldn’t be many. After all, I fear that I couldn’t raise them properly.”
The elder agreed to Zhao Hai’s request, he nodded his head and said, “Well, I can give you ten Fighting Bulls, as well as ten wild blood cows. I hope mister can exchange each cow for 10 thousand jin of grain. Then we’ll use Argali and wool blankets for the rest, what do you think?”
Zhao Hai thinks for a moment then replied, “There’s no problem, ten fighting bulls plus ten wild blood cows account for two hundred thousand jin of grain, that leaves 2,800,000 jin of grain. If 2,800,000 jin were to be traded with argali, it would be 1,400 heads. So I’d like 1000 heads, and the for the rest I’d like 600 blankets. If your tribe has any magic plants, this number can be lowered, what do you think?”
The elder nodded, “Fair enough, I agree. Tomorrow, Mr. Zhao can get the things that you requested. However, currently we don’t have the time to collect more magic beasts as well as plants for mister. The time is too short, moreover, during winter plants would wither, we can only wait for next year.”
Zhao Hai faintly smiles, “That’s fine, the elder can send some people to collect during these days. In a few days my second batch of grain will arrive, then we could trade, withered plants are okay, as long as it hasn’t withered for more than one month.”
The elder nodded, “Very well, we’ll try our best. Mister can return, if West Wonder King agrees to meet mister tomorrow, I’ll immediately inform you.” Zhao Hai expressed his gratitude, then turned to leave.
Looking at Zhao Hai going out, Beta couldn’t help but say to the elder, “Elder, why did you agree to trade him our fighting bulls? What if he studies them what do we do?”
The elder showed a faint smile, “Nothing, rest assured, humans have spent all these years researching about our soul beasts without much result. And do you think that if we don’t give them some beasts, they wouldn’t have any way to procure them elsewhere? If they really are to be greedy, then why not trade our soul beasts to bring more food for ourselves?”
Beta nodded, not saying anything, the elder turned to Beta, “You go take some people from the tribe and go search for some strange plants. If anyone were to spot some magic beasts, make sure to bring them alive.” Beta complied, then turned to leave.
Zhao Hai went to his tent while assessing his conversation with the elder. But fortunately, there are no flaws in his part, he acted like any common merchant.
He just deliberately asked the elder for their magic beasts because he is very clear that he can’t be too low-key. Human merchants tend to act high-profile towards the beastmen, so he should be the same from time to time. The opposite would cause other people to have suspicions. After all, spies would tend to be low-key, trying not to stir up trouble as much as possible, on the contrary, if you were to act high-profile, no one would suspect you.
Zhao Hai also would not be too high-profile, but he also couldn’t be a pushover. So he asked the elder for the tribe’s companion soul beast as well as some special magic plants , which could be be interpreted as a lofty request. At the same time, he also disclosed to the elder that he couldn’t get these things at another place.
Zhao Hai knows very clear, that West Wonder King isn’t most afraid of Wales. In his opinion, Herculean Bull tribe was already ruined. Wales is a prince of a declining tribe, they wouldn’t even dare return to the Cow-headed beastman domain. West Wonder King fears the grudge held by the Fighting Bull chieftain.
And Zhao Hai, by requesting for fighting bulls and wild blood cows, gave clues to the elder that he is not related to the chieftain of the Fighting Bull Tribe.
Strictly speaking, West Wonder King’s tribe is a branch family of the Fighting Bull tribe so they also use the same bulls as the main tribe. Their beasts, the fighting bulls, have bodies filled with short black hairs, a very violent ox-headed bull. The bull’s height is nearly three meters, they cannot use magic but they have great strength, ranked in the top ten among the cow-headed domain. Moreover, they also have a special ability, Rage!
Rage can be considered as a very strange ability, because of their fury, their strength and defensive ability would greatly explode. No matter what level the opposing beast is, they would still dare to charge. This point is what excels them compare to other magic beasts.
Ranks of magic beasts are very strict, like the fighting bulls which can be considered as sixth rank magic beasts. Ordinary sixth rank beasts, when they meet eighth ranked beasts, would be immobilized, thus letting the eight rank easily slaughter them. But the fighting bulls are different, they are not afraid, whether it be eight rank or ninth rank beasts, as long as they are in a state of rage, they’d dare to make the first move and charge.
The wild blood cows, are a dark-type magic beast. They place only at the fifth rank, only five levels. They can perform simple blood magic, but this beast actually is most suited for the fighting bull clan.
The name wild blood actually doesn’t conform to the cow’s nature because of its two blood magics, one is Quick Recovery and the other is Gloom.
These two magic belongs to Support-type magic, Quick Recovery can be cast on somebody to quicken their wound healing my many folds, some being dozens of times faster. Gloom is a mental type black magic, once used, the target would become absolutely rational, like a puppet, and seemingly forgetting what anger is.
These two magics fit the Fighting Bulls perfectly. Regarding the Fighting Bulls’ temper, with which single word can cause a fight, and their mounts would be similar, once the rage skill is used, it would be in a state of extreme anger, no matter if ally or foe, it would only know to charge, which in a battlefield is very fearful.
But the two skills of the wild blood cow happens to suppress this enraged state. So the Fighting Bulls absorb the wild blood cow’s soul and train in their skills. After practicing in these skills their beastly souls would obtain two new abilities, which is to quickly recover wounds as well as make them retain a calm condition, not only them, but also to their mounts.
Their name of wild blood cows became so because they are completely blood red. Normally with black and white eyes, their eye color would turn red once in battle, like a violent man when he is angry, therefore it was given its name of wild blood.
Before, the Fighting Bull tribe is only an ordinary tribe within the cow-headed race. Their temperament is too bad along with their very disobedient mounts, they couldn’t control their temper which wouldn’t differentiate between friend or foe. Because of these qualities, they were not very well-liked among the cow-headed race.
Afterwards, after generations of effort, they finally were able to find soul beasts most suitable for them, which multiplied their battle effectiveness my many folds. Now they are famous within the cow-headed race as strong warriors.
The human race, all these years, has had researched beastmen soul beasts as well as beast relatives. They want to discover a way to crack this method that gave beastmen immense strength. But till now they still haven’t succeeded. The Beastmen are still using soul beasts but humans are still using battle qi.
Humans have always coveted this method of obtaining strength from the beastmen for a long time. If they were to discover how these beastmen managed to have companion beasts, this would greatly increase the might of their cavalry. If they were to know how to use soul beasts, then their battle power would also increase greatly. But unfortunately, just as the beastmen said, these two abilities were given to them by the Beast God. With the exception of the beastmen, no other race could use these abilities.
Zhao Hai also knows that, before, some human merchants would purchase soul beasts as well as unique beasts from the beastmen and then bring them back to Human territory to do research on. But unfortunately, most of these beasts would die of illness. Even if its alive, the humans still couldn’t find anything in their research.
Because of this point did Zhao Hai propose to the elder his purchase of their fighting bulls and wild blood cows. This is because he knows the elder will sell, in addition it would eliminate some of the elder’s wariness of him.
As he returned to his tent, Zhao Hai immediately turned on the monitor. The words Beta and the elder has said right after he left gave him relief. He has now found out that the elder’s wariness of him has basically disappeared. Chapter 1622: Mysterious Creature
Bright fire light shone on this space, which seemed to have been in darkness for ten thousand years. However, Xiao Yan involuntarily felt a chill over his body despite the light from the flame. The source of this chill seemed to be the enormous creature that was present in the dark space below!
It was an indescribably huge creature that lay within the dark empty space without moving. Xiao Yan’s sight shifted along its body. However, he was still unable to see an end to its body when his sight was blocked by the darkness in the distance…
This mysterious creature was completely purple-gold in colour. Icy cold scales covered its body. A kind of hard steel like feeling rose from it.
Xiao Yan was floated in the empty space. His eyes were unable to see the creature in its entirety. One could imagine just how unbelievably large this creature was. It was the first time that Xiao Yan had seen a body of this size after all these years!
Even though his decades of experience had allowed Xiao Yan to maintain a great control of himself, he still felt greatly shocked when he suddenly discovered that there was actually such a huge creature, which could devour the sky, present in the dark space under him.
Who could have imagined that there would actually be such a terrifying creature existing within this quiet space, which appeared to be void of life?
Xiao Yan’s throat rolled involuntarily. Traces of cold sweat had even appeared on his forehead. He carefully observed the huge creature sitting below. Even with his eyesight, he was unable to guess just what kind of creature it was.
“I must not remain in this place…”
Since he had already learnt that the bottom of the magma world did indeed hide the Ancient God Cave, Xiao Yan had also intended to withdraw. Although that huge creature below was completely quiet and appeared dead, his Di State soul allowed Xiao Yan to detect a trace of dangerous aura. This kind of aura was not inferior to that of Hun Tiandi or Gu Yuan.
It was best not to remain in this place for long. The most appropriate course of action was to gather his people and get Gu Yuan to accompany him to probe this Ancient God Mansion!
Xiao Yan’s body slowly pulled back as this thought flashed across his heart. However, he had only just taken ten steps back when he suddenly sensed that the huge creature’s body below him shook slightly.
Although this movement was slight, it still caused Xiao Yan’s eyes to shrink. He understood that with his strength, he was definitely not mistaken. In that case, there was only one answer. This mysterious creature was still alive!
Xiao Yan’s retreating speed suddenly soared the moment he thought of this!
A pair of huge eyes within the dark empty space, which had been shut for a long time, were suddenly opened when Xiao Yan had began to pull back!
This pair of eyes had a faint redness in them. Those eyes were solemn. Just the size of this pair of eyes was already hundreds of times larger than Xiao Yan!
This pair of eyes were locked onto Xiao Yan the moment they had opened. At the same time, an extremely terrifying pressure directly enveloped Xiao Yan’s body, causing his retreating speed to suddenly slow!
Xiao Yan’s expression changed after that terrifying pressure enveloped his body. He activated his Di State soul. Only then did he manage to reduce this feeling of having fallen into a quagmire.
“Tomb raider… did you bring the ancient jade?”
The space suddenly shook as Xiao Yan’s Spiritual Strength surged. A voice, which caused even the space to tremble, suddenly sounded.
Xiao Yan tightened his fist. He looked at the pair of huge eyes within the darkness. At this moment, those eyes contained an icy chill as they stared at him in an indifferent fashion. There was no fluctuation within it.
“I have accidently barge into this place. Please forgive me if I have disturbed it. I will immediately withdraw!” Xiao Yan cupped his hands together towards the eyes and spoke in a deep voice.
“No ancient jade huh?” A voice sounded within the space after the creature heard this. Immediately, Xiao Yan seemed to have seen some disappointment and… an icy cold murderous intent.
“This is bad!”
Xiao Yan’s expression changed drastically upon detecting this emotion. He could not be bothered with anything else. The Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame covered his body and a pair of bone wings was extended from his back. After which, he hurriedly withdrew!
“Please remain behind if you do not have it…” The indifferent voice once again sounded. After which, the entire space suddenly shook. Bright purple-gold light pillars broke through the darkness. It penetrated through the empty space and ruthlessly shot towards Xiao Yan.
Xiao Yan’s eyes became cold after he saw that mysterious creature unleashing an attack. His hand seal changed and his enormous spiritual body appeared outside. He widened his mouth and a terrifying spiritual assault swept over from all directions. In an instant, it ruthlessly collided with the purple-golden light pillar!
A storm exploded within the space as the loud sound appeared.
The storm swept over the place but the purple light still remained. Xiao Yan’s Di State soul’s Yellow Spring Divine Anger was unable to shatter it. His eyes quickly became even more solemn. With a change of his hand seal, another two ferocious spiritual fluctuation surged out from him.
Two spiritual sonic wave attack heavily smashed onto the purple light. This time around, the purple light was finally shattered. However, Xiao Yan also staggered backwards by ten thousand feet because of the lingering force.
“What a terrifying strength this big fellow has!”
Shock surged within Xiao Yan’s heart after this exchange. Just a random attack had forced Xiao Yan to use all his strength to block it. The strength of this mysterious creature was definitely not inferior to Hun Tiandi or Gu Yuan!
“Di State soul…” The mysterious creature’s voice within the empty darkness contained a little surprise.
Xiao Yan did not have the time to bother about him. He took advantage of the force to once again rushed to the exit of this realm.
While Xiao Yan was rushing with rapid speed, another sharp wind suddenly surged from behind him. The corner of his eyes shifted and he saw a purple-gold light flashed. It actually agglomerated into a mysterious light seal. After which, it came smashing furiously onto Xiao Yan.
Xiao Yan’s expression was once again altered as he sensed the terrifying strength contained within the light seal. He clenched his fists. Two six coloured Extermination Fire Lotus were formed. After which, he threw them behind him without turning his head.
The Extermination Fire Lotus exploded on the light seal. Fire wave churned. However, he did not cause the light seal to shake. Immediately, a ray of light suddenly shot out from within the light seal and headed towards Xiao Yan with lightning like speed.
Xiao Yan was cautious when the light ray shot out. He hurriedly turned around. Both of his hands danced and the Purifying Demonic Fire Lotus quickly turned into pink crystals in front of him.
The light ray arrived in the blink of an eye. It directly smashed onto the layers of pink fire crystal. Those crystals quickly collapsed an inch at a time. The light ray seemed to have an extremely easy time destroying those originally extremely hard fire crystals. After which, it heavily smashed onto Xiao Yan’s body.
Xiao Yan’s face turned red after suffering this heavy attack. A mouthful of fresh blood was spat out while his body once again used the momentum to withdraw
Xiao Yan’s blood dyed the light seal a short distance away. It emitted emitted waves of sizzling sound.
“Stay behind and accompany me…” The mysterious creature did not intend to allow Xiao Yan to escape after defeating him with a single strike. The light seal whistled and once again chased after Xiao Yan.
However, what could he even do? Could divine medicines and other things preserve these people?
Next Chapter “Yan Hai?” Long Yao’s eyes became as big as saucers. The person on the platform was the last person he had expected to see!
It was the same Jun Wu Xie who should have been at that moment, consumed by hatred and plotting her revenge that was standing defiantly in the middle of the arena. All the applause and cheers in the arena were for her!
The most powerful person in the 72 cities left everyone in the arena dumbfounded. Nobody thought that Jun Wu Xie would appear in the arena at that moment.
In fact, although today’s selection was more exciting than previous days, it was still being fought by weaker exponents. The real contenders would only appear later, yet Jun Wu Xie suddenly appeared.
Her appearance had whipped everyone in the arena into a frenzy!
In all the 72 cities, was there anyone who did not know who she was and how powerful she was?
As she stood on the platform, all remaining challengers hoping to show their strength felt totally defeated!
What a joke!
How were they going to fight?
They were only at the level of Spiritual Inscriptions and could be crushed by any Spirit Ring bearer, not to mention someone like Jun Wu Xie who possessed a Dual Spirit Ring!
All those from the Golden Peak Pinnacle cowered into a corner and all the Spiritual Inscription warriors unconsciously started retreating from the platform that could spell certain death for them. Even the strong Spirit Ring Bearers, upon seeing Jun Wu Xie, started twitching uncontrollably.
What did this person actually want?
Who would dare to challenge a Dual Spirit Ring bearer?
After the cheers, an eerie silence permeated the arena….
The winner of the last round barely had time to savour his victory before his great joy got devoured by an even greater fear when he saw Jun Wu Xie.
Jun Wu Xie looked at him coldly, turning his legs into jelly. She said nothing but he gasped in fear and scrambled off the platform.
Come n, fight with a Dual Spirit Ring bearer?!
He was not tired of living!!
Jun Wu Xie was the only one left on the platform. She steadily turned her ice gaze towards the one in the highest chair, Long Yao!
When Long Yao’s eyes met Jun Wu Xie, there was no wavering in his heart. On the first day of the selections, he had already seen the youth and other than a cool demeanor, could not discern anything related to her character. But today, looking at her steely gaze, he could feel her murderous intent!
Jun Wu Xie had come filled with hatred, ready to take revenge.
In a way that Long Yao did not expect….
Imagine. The moment Jun Wu Xie stood on the platform, her Dual Spirit Ring was enough to deter all the contestants in the selection. With her strength, who would dare to enter the ring? !!
Long Yao had calculated everything, except the possibility of Jun Wu Xie being able to think of such a thorough method of revenge while experiencing such anger and hate.
As long as nobody went up the platform, Jun Wu Xie could challenge the Top Ten masters directly!
There was no need to wait at all! – Appeared in Both Past and Present
This affected Shi Hao way too much. He was already extremely strong, yet he was still so helpless. Age was something that couldn’t be defied, not even someone as powerful as a supreme being had any way of reversing this.
“Grandpa Chief!” Shi Hao supported him. Shi Yunfeng really was old, now old and gray-haired, blood energy dried up, body weak.
“I won’t let Grandpa Chief continue to get older.” Shi Hao said. He produced a bottle of liquid, wishing for Shi Yunfeng to drink it. This was immortal blood he gathered from the dam world, already refined, obtaining some undying matter.
The instant he opened the container, everyone was moved. There was a clear fragrance that wafted out from within, the droplets of blood inside like exquisite wine.
It had been repeatedly refined, the killing energy and harmful substances all refined away, already becoming great medicine.
Shi Hao spent a century there, but he only ended up refining a few containers. This liquid was priceless, even more precious than divine medicines after they entered the Cultivationless Age.
Under the current sky, he was the only one who could refine this immortal blood!
Even though the essence had flowed away, with only some bits remaining, others still couldn’t refine it. Their bodies would explode before they even got close to the immortal corpse, the immortal dao force was incomparable.
When Clan Chief Shi Yunfeng understood what this was, he had a gratified expression on his face, fulfilled and calm. “Foolish child, you can prolong grandpa’s life for a bit, perhaps one, two, or three eras, right? In this lifetime, I already have no regrets. Being able to watch you grow up, seeing how you can already look down on the world, what else is there for me to complain about? Grandpa can’t accompany you for your entire life, I cannot reach a level where I can coexist with the world, becoming undying. I am only an ordinary elder. In life, what is worth having the most, are joy and peace, and I already have both, I always had them during these years. I am already content.”
The old clan chief patted his hand, his face carrying a benevolent smile, incredibly satisfied. So many years passed, his old companions already all left this world, he also wished to see them now.
Shi Yunfeng refused, not ingesting the immortal blood. He knew that his own grandson needed it more than him. In the future, if there was a vicious battle, this would definitely be a life-saving treasure.
However, how could Shi Hao give up? The old clan chief raised him up, influencing his entire life, the one he was least willing to see dead. At night, he quietly refined the medicinal blood into the old clan chief’s body, ensuring that he didn’t die from old age.
“We’re going to battle!”
Shi Hao didn’t immediately bring them back to the dam world, instead starting to explore the world, opening all types of secret realms.
During this period, he gathered all types of ancient books and records. He listened to some legends of the locals, and then used these as clues, searching the world’s remains and other places.
In several years, he opened up four or five small worlds, all of them left behind from the ancient times. They were all great treasuries.
“Wall of Gods and Devils!”
This was a place of self tempering. For the sake of heading into the higher realms, when he was young, Shi Hao searched for all kinds of different paths, previously heading there. However, it was quite regrettable, the path there had already been cut short.
That path had already been used by a giant tortoise. The massive tortoise with Supreme Hall on its back ascended into the higher realms through the Wall of Gods and Devils.
Even though Shi Hao didn’t successfully use this place back then, it left him with a deep impression.
“Wall of Gods and Devils, scars of the archaic times!” He didn’t forget these eight words.
The carvings of gods and devils were incredibly astonishing. There were all types of stone engravings and battlefields. One could fight with many archaic vicious spirits here.
Inside of every single stone gate, there would be a powerful creature that corresponded with the stone engraving!
At this point, how could Shi Hao not know what kind of place this was? It was a place used by the ancient people to train troops. When the Immortal Ancient Great Era was destroyed, there were surviving experts who were unwilling, creating this training ground.
Those were predecessors who died in war!
Just how many years separated those who built the wall and the so-called Immortal Ancient Great Era? That was an era that should be called archaic.
“The woman who folded paper boats…”
Shi Hao became absent-minded. In one of the stone engravings, he saw the paper boat folding woman.
His eyes became deep, as if he could peer through time and space, gazing all the way to the Kun Peng nest. He previously discovered black paper boats that were dyed in blood there.
“They don’t seem to be people who belong to this time-space. Why is it that she also left behind some traces here?” Shi Hao thought to himself.
Soon afterwards, he became absentminded. This should be something created by others.
Only, were there people who met the paper boat folding woman even before the archaic times?
“Yi, why is this engraving so similar to a person?” Cao Yusheng cried out in alarm.
When he walked out of his burial cave, he moved together with Shi Hao, entering the higher realms. The Heavenly Horned Ant was also like this, following him here right now.
“Ye Qingxian?!” The Heavenly Horned Ant was also shocked.
There were many remains here. They discovered that there were also some engravings of Ye Qingxian.
These two had both visited Desolate Border’s Imperial Pass, they had met Ye Qingxian.
Shi Hao was stunned. Even he was shocked. How could this be? How could Ye Qingxian already have appeared before the archaic times? There were already people who saw her in that age, carving her here?
How was this possible? That was clearly a young lady, Shi Hao had more than one interaction with her. He never sensed an aura of great changes from her body.
What was going on here?
In the end, it had already been a long time since he met Ye Qingxian. After the Desolate Border War completely ended, Ye Qingxian disappeared.
“We actually made this discovery…”
Shi Hao, the Heavenly Horned Ant, and Cao Yusheng all felt a deep sense of shock, finding it hard to understand. In the end, Shi Hao ordered Mu Qing and the others to investigate this, to search through the various lands.
Not long afterwards, they headed into the higher realms. Shi Hao personally made arrangements, using the influence of ‘Imperial Court’ to find all types of clues regarding Ye Qingxian.
In the end, he was shocked. There really were clues in the Nine Heavens Ten Earths. Someone found her statue in certain remains!
“How is that possible?!” Cao Yusheng was stunned. He had also met Ye Qingxian. That was an old monster?
However, this should be the case!
Based on what they learned in Imperial Pass, Ye Qingxian was only a young lady, not an old witch.
“There are more clues!”
Mu Qing received a report, informing Shi Hao.
It was rumored that many years ago, there were people who previously saw Ye Qingxian’s statue in Origin Ancient Mine.
Origin Ancient Mine, the inside was extremely mysterious, those who entered almost all died, difficult for them to continue living. There were all types of dangers and oddities.
However, in the end, there were still some who were lucky enough to come out alive.
For example, Shi Hao, he himself went in there before, obtaining the hand gestures of Six Dao Reincarnations from that place.
“It seems like it is time to make a trip there.” Shi Hao said.
“You are going to go into Origin Ancient Mine?” Cao Yusheng and the Heavenly Horned Ant both opposed it, because that place was too strange, now already sealed up.
“I am now already a supreme being, it’s time to take a look. I recall that there is even a stalk of long life medicine inside. If possible, I wish to bring it out.” Shi Hao insisted on proceeding, not feeling any fear.
Origin Ancient Mine was peaceful and boundless. In the past, there was a lot of black blood that flowed out. It was sealed up by many people working together, it had now already been many years since anyone approached.
In the end, Shi Hao went down, advancing alone, rejecting all others who wished to go with him.
Below, there were many paths, complex like a maze. Back then, Shi Hao almost died, but now, he advanced in a calm manner, not facing any dangers.
“Turns out it was like this, actually a gate. Hm? It leads to Immortal Domain?”
Shi Hao revealed a strange expression. The aura from that gate was extremely familiar, it was not the first time he sensed it. It was similar to the gate Shi Hao used when he entered this realm before.
He never expected there to be a gate hidden in this Origin Ancient Mine! However, it had already been completely sealed!
In the past, the protectors’ descendant Dugu Yun had also found this place, wishing to find clues regarding his ancestors. However, in the end, black blood poured out, forcing him to flee in a sorry state.
Shi Hao tried to attack it, see if he could smash through it in one strike. If he could, then he could enter Immortal Domain through this entrance. This was clearly a path.
In that instant, a mysterious aura surged. Black blood seeped out from that gate, pouring out.
“It really is strange… isn’t this a gate that leads to Immortal Domain? Why is there an inauspicious aura, black blood seeping out?”
Shi Hao continued to attack it. That gate remained unaffected, only inauspicious black blood flowing out, appearing here.
“My path of return, who is knocking on it?” An indistinct and weak voice sounded, as if it came from billions of years ago, as if there was an endless world separating them, the long river of time standing in between.
In that instant, Shi Hao was shaken. He knew what kind of place this was.
In the same moment that Meng Hao was looking around contentedly at his Immortal’s cave in the Nine Seas God World, far far away, something happened in the starry sky. That place… was not located in the Mountain and Sea Realm. Furthermore, it was a location outside of the 33 Heavens. It was located… in a different starry sky.
Visible was a projection of an ancient land mass. It was so enormous that it was impossible to describe, and it hung there in the void, emanating constant and endless pressure.
Within this projected world was… a huge coffin, as well as nine beautiful, colorful butterflies.
Surrounding the coffin was an endless sea of people, all prostrating themselves in worship.
In front of the crowds of people were three young women who were indescribably beautiful. Their eyes were filled with both hope and reminiscence as they looked at the coffin, and then down at the land beneath their feet.
Doomsday Wonderland In front of the three young women was an old man wearing a black robe. At his back was the illusory image of an ancient tree. Currently, his two hands were held aloft, and he was shouting loudly up into the air. It sounded like some sort of curse, although it was impossible to hear exactly what he was saying.
It didn’t take long, however, for a mass of black mist to appear in front of him. It roiled and seethed, emanating a strong aura of death.
“I found it… almost. If it is used just one more time, I’ll be able to locate it!” After a long moment, the old man coughed up a mouthful of blood, and his body seemed to wither. The tree behind him also withered, as if he had just spent a huge amount of life force to speak those words.
It wasn’t just him who paid the price to speak the words. Everyone in the sea of people around him also spit up mouthfuls of blood. The nine butterflies trembled, and of the four wings they each possessed, two fell off.
In another location within the same void in which that world projection existed, was yet another boundlessly majestic projection of a world.
Within that world existed a huge statue of a man!
In that world, there were nine suns!!
At the foot of the statue was a young man wearing a white robe. If you looked closely, you would see… that he looked exactly like the statue!!
He shook his head and smiled.
“Mother was right. Those who are reborn are always more eager than those who have already returned.” 1
Note from Er Gen: Lots of you readers guess the answer. Pretty awesome!
Note from Deathblade: Same with readers of the translation! I saw quite a few correct guesses. Unless you were secretly posting spoilers as “guesses,” in which case you have sown vile Karma and will be punished!!!!!
1. I saw speculation by Chinese fans about what this last line means, but nothing very definite. I’ll continue to do some research and if I find anything more I’ll post on twitter or in a chapter release. Chapter 1044: Initial Absorption of Paragon Blood!
The people of the Mountain and Sea Realm had no way of seeing what was happening outside of their Realm.
Back in the Nine Seas God World, in the valley between the two mountain ranges, the pool of water continued to build up above the shield. At the same time, a figure stepped out noiselessly from within the residence.
Meng Hao had sensed this person earlier, and as such, his expression did not change when the young boy walked out. He looked to be about seven or eight years old, wore a red robe, and had a completely expressionless face. As soon as he stepped out, he clasped hands and bowed to Meng Hao.
“What an incredible puppet,” Meng Hao murmured, walking up to the boy and looking him over. The boy looked almost as if he had been carved out of a lustrous piece of rare jade.
Meng Hao reached his hand out and pressed it down onto the puppet. Immediately, an additional puppet mnemonic appeared in his mind.
“This Immortal’s cave must be completely unique within the Nine Seas God World,” the thought. “Only a place like this could be suitable for such a puppet. Whenever I have to deal with cultivation resources, I can just sent him out to handle things.
“Furthermore, it looks like he has battle prowess equivalent to a stage 7 Immortal.”
Meng Hao was very pleased. This Immortal’s cave far exceeded any other Immortal’s cave he had ever lived in. Regardless of whether or not the pool of water was being fed by the waterfall, it was as blue and crystalline as ever. Furthermore, the pond itself was actually made, not from freshwater, but saltwater.
“How considerate of them,” he said. Then he waved his hand, instantly causing the 33 Demonic cultivators to fly out of his bag of holding and splash into the pool.
Before they could even react, he performed an incantation gesture and then waved his finger. Popping sounds rang out as all of the 33 Demonic cultivators were sealed. All of them reverted to their original forms, whereupon they spun and began to howl at Meng Hao in rage.
“Shut up!” he growled. His voice echoed out like thunder, instantly causing all of the Demonic cultivators to tremble. Moments later, everything was quiet. The Demonic cultivators now looked like sea beasts, but they were still glaring angrily at Meng Hao.
That was especially true of the gigantic shell, which had now cracked open to reveal a pair of venomous eyes staring out at him.
There was also a huge sea turtle who looked especially fierce.
In addition to those two, there was a big shrimp, a crab, a seahorse, and others. Meng Hao looked them over, and then a grotesque idea suddenly popped up in his head.
“This pool of water almost looks like a giant pot. If I heated the water up….” He swallowed, then quickly shoved the wicked idea away. However, it was in that moment that the Demonic cultivators, who had just quieted down moments ago, suddenly lost control and began to roar again. A few of them even tried to charge at Meng Hao in attack.
With a cold harrumph, Meng Hao waved his hand, causing all of them to tremble, as if great pressure were weighing down on them. It was impossible for them to escape from within the pool of water, so once again, the sound of vehement curses rose up into the air.
Ignoring them, Meng Hao waved his right finger, causing a strand of the Essence of Divine Flame to fly out from his Immortal meridians. It landed in the water, and in the blink of an eye, the water began to bubble.
Meng Hao cleared his throat and then somewhat embarrassedly said, “If you don’t keep your voices down, there are no guarantees that I won’t boil you up and have a taste!”
His words, combined with the fact that the water in the pool was rapidly getting hotter, caused the Demonic cultivators to tremble. They looked at Meng Hao, not with hatred, but rather… terror and shock.
They had never imagined that Meng Hao would actually boil them into a stew!
Seeing that the Demonic cultivators had quieted down, Meng Hao waved a hand, retracting the strand of the Essence of Divine Flame. The water temperature in the pool instantly began to lower.
“That’s better. Now!” he said earnestly. “Remember to be good and do as you’re told. You people owe me money and can’t pay it back. That was why you handed yourselves over to me. Now, I’m going to provide you with a master to help you learn how to achieve your goal, which is… to sell yourselves!” With that, he slapped his bag of holding, causing the parrot to shoot out in a beam of black light.
The tinkling sound of a bell could be heard, along with a torrent of squawks.
“Lord Fifth is out! Lord Fifth swears to never go back into that bag of holding! Lord Fifth is free! Lord Fifth is going to… Eee?!” Even in midst of its tirade, Lord Fifth suddenly looked down at all the Demonic cultivators in the pool of water.
The bell-form meat jelly was also in the midst of howling in rage, when suddenly it realized the parrot had grown silent. It, too, looked down at the Demonic cultivators.
After staring for a moment, the meat jelly, trying to be helpful, said, “Maybe they’re taking a bath together?”
The parrot flew around in a circle, looking closely at the situation and then roared: “Moron! Idiot! Can’t you see he’s making some seafood stew? They’re not taking a bath! Dammit! How come none of this seafood has fur!?!?”
Meng Hao cleared his throat and then addressed the meat jelly: “These are all bullies. You can count if you want, there are three. Three bullies. I caught them and brought them here for you to practice your divine ability of converting people!”
The meat jelly quivered with excitement as it counted. When it was done, it looked over at Meng Hao as if he were the best person in the whole world. In the meat jelly’s opinion, it had never met a master who treated it is well as Meng Hao did.
Meng Hao smiled slightly, as if the two of them were best friends. Then he glanced over at the parrot and glared threateningly.
“I’ll pay handsomely for every one of these seafood dishes that you can get to behave. For each one, I’ll find one extremely furry creature for you.
“If you can train them all, then later, I’ll split subsequent profits with you thirty/seventy!”
When the parrot heard the words ‘extremely furry’ it instantly got very excited. It suddenly began to visualize all sorts of extremely furry creatures, and that only increased its enthusiasm. It immediately agreed to Meng Hao’s proposal.
Meng Hao promptly ignored the parrot and meat jelly as they began to torment the Demonic cultivators. He was sure that, considering how strong they were, getting the Demonic cultivator seafood dishes in line wasn’t an impossibility for them.
“Then there’s that wench Su Yan,” he thought. “I’ll wait a few more days and then hand her over to the parrot and meat jelly for education. I just can’t believe that she’ll continue to hold out after that.” Having made up his mind, he entered the residence.
The residence itself wasn’t very large. However, there was a stone door on the second floor. Behind the stone door were three chambers, each of which were relatively large.
After examining them, Meng Hao muttered to himself for a moment. Then, eyes glittering, he slapped his bag of holding, causing 30 black beetles to fly out, ten for each chamber.
Glancing thoughtfully at the Ghost Eyes on their backs, he thought, “I heard Su Yan call these things Ghost Eye Beetles….
“They like eating spirit-immortal stones. Well then, I might as well give them some more to eat… and see what kind of Ghost Eye appears in the end!” He had come up with this idea some time ago, so, clenching his teeth, he didn’t hesitate any further. He hated losing spirit-immortal stones, but he also knew that on the path of cultivation, you had to lose some to win some.
He waved his hand, causing thirty spirit-immortal stones to fly out into the three chambers. Instantly, the Ghost Eye Beetles went mad, clawing their way forward to grab the stones.
He threw out one stone per beetle in order to prevent them from fighting too much. After all, he only had 500 Ghost Eye Beetles, and wanted to avoid a situation in which they killed each other.
It didn’t take long for the Ghost Eye Beetles to consume the spirit-immortal stones, after which they sat there, motionless. However, their auras grew wildly stronger and their bodies grew tougher, as if they were in the process of absorbing energy from the stones they had swallowed.
After a moment of consideration, he decided that since the Ghost Eye Beetles were taking some time to absorb energy, he would make use of the puppet boy. Summoning him over, he handed some spirit-immortal stones over and then left some divine will instructions that the puppet continue to feed the stones to the beetles as necessary. Then he left the stone chambers and sat down cross-legged on the second floor of the residence.
He took a deep breath, and determination gleamed in his eyes as he extended his right hand. Immediately a bag of holding appeared, which he scanned with divine sense. He saw quite a collection of spirit stones and Immortal jade, as well as an incense burner.
The incense burner had an ancient feel to it, as though its aura was filled with years of time.
“This thing must be the Immortal artifact that Patriarch Granny Nine mentioned,” he thought. Ignoring it for the moment, he excitedly searched through the bag of holding to find the most precious item it contained.
A jade vial!
The vial was only the size of a pinky finger, and it contained… a drop of red fluid. It was none other than… Paragon’s blood!!
He carefully retrieved the vial from the bag of holding, then placed it onto his palm. Panting, he thought back to the Three Great Daoist Societies’ trial by fire, and how he had taken first place. For some reason it seemed like a very, very long time ago.
“I finally got my prize! But I wonder… which Paragon did this blood come from? Was it the white-robed Sea Dream, or was it Immortal Ancient? Or could it be from… Paragon Nine Seals?” He took a deep breath, and without any further hesitation, opened the jade vial. Instead of pouring the Paragon’s blood out, he slowly sent his divine sense into the vial.
Almost as soon as his divine sense made contact with the Paragon’s blood, a bloody mist rose up. In the blink of an eye, it swept back through his divine sense toward him. He was shocked, but he didn’t waver. Gritting his teeth, he sat in place without moving.
That strand of blood mist bored into his eyes, ears, nose, and mouth. In the same moment, he closed the jade vial, ensuring that the rest of the Paragon’s blood remained inside. His action just now had used up only about thirty percent.
However, even that thirty percent of the drop of Paragon’s blood transformed into a massive power that surged madly through his body.
Blue veins popped out on his face, and his whole body shook. The blood mist transformed into millions of strands which bored into his Immortal meridians. Gradually, the vague power of a Dao Fruit began to form.
Moments later, it collapsed, battering around inside of Meng Hao’s body.
Shaken, he quickly produced a Nirvana Fruit and pushed it into his forehead. In that moment, the tens of millions of strands inside of him all seemed to have found their exit.
His body shook, and his aura exploded upward. All of his Immortal qi was unleashed. His energy surged as the Nirvana Fruit apparently began to fuse into his blood vessels and qi passageways.
If he absorbed it completely, that would indicate that he had fused successfully with the Nirvana Fruit. That would also mean… that he would rise up in his position in the Immortal Realm, and would be be incredibly close to being able to remain in the Immortal Emperor Realm… eternally! Chapter 1045: ROCKED!
Time passed one breath at a time. He had long since passed the usual time limit for the Nirvana Fruit. However, after enough time had passed for an incense stick to burn, he still sat there, Nirvana Fruit fully absorbed. He opened his eyes, grabbed the jade vial, and was about to open it, but then hesitated.
The hundreds of thousands of strands inside of him were growing dimmer, and would rapidly vanish. Unfortunately, the Nirvana Fruit still wasn’t completely fused with him, not even by half. Abyss System In terms of percentages, then as of this moment, the Nirvana Fruit seemed to be about one percent fused.
“Even if I completely absorbed this entire sample of Paragon’s blood,” he thought, “then at most, I could achieve a four percent absorption….
“It’s not that the Paragon’s blood isn’t strong, nor that it’s fake. Rather…. this drop of blood is simply too diluted. Who knows how many dilutions it’s gone through.” He sighed inwardly. He knew that even if the Three Great Daoist Societies did have complete specimens of Paragon’s blood, they would still be incredibly scarce.
There was no way they would give him a complete drop. It was true that he was in the Echelon. However, taking a broad view, it was impossible to say whether or not another Echelon member might come along in the future. Although the Three Great Daoist Societies valued him, they couldn’t possibly give him undiluted Paragon’s blood.
Even a highly diluted drop could still be considered a precious treasure! From the very beginning, all they had agreed to give him was some Paragon’s blood. They had never said that it would be complete.
“If I could get a complete, full drop, then I’m certain that after absorbing it, I would then be able to completely fuse with the Nirvana Fruit, and I would truly be an Immortal Emperor!” Desire gleamed in Meng Hao’s eyes as he thought about the possibility of being able to eternally retain a cultivation base that exceeded the Immortal Realm Paragon.
Meng Hao took a deep breath, and his eyes shone brightly.
“Not complete…. Well then, I’ll just have to create my own complete drop of Paragon’s blood!” Gritting his teeth, he slowly pulled the copper mirror out of his bag of holding. He was of course concerned about how much it might cost him. In fact, he wasn’t even sure if the copper mirror was powerful enough to duplicate the Paragon’s blood.
However, determination filled his face as he looked at the copper mirror for a moment, then placed the vial of Paragon’s blood on its surface. Immediately, the vial began to sink down into the mirror.
Then, the mirror suddenly went berserk in a way it never had before. It shook wildly, flying out of Meng Hao’s hands and up into the air. Brilliant beams of light shot out in all directions, along with a shocking aura.
In the blink of an eye, the entire residence was inundated by a terrifying aura, which began to spread further out. If nothing was done about the spreading of this aura, it would go on to fill the entire Nine Seas God World, and the entire Ninth Sea. From there it would spread out to fill all of the Ninth Mountain and Sea, and eventually… the entirety of the Mountain and Sea Realm!
Outside the residence, the parrot was flying proudly through the air, looking extremely excited at the prospect of how happy its life would be after it exchanged all of the seafood for furry beasts.
Having reached this point in its train of thought, it immediately turned to all of the Demonic cultivators and roared: “Now listen well to Lord Fifth! All of you-“
However, before it could even finish speaking, a tremor suddenly ran through its body, as if some incredible power had suddenly sucked it dry. It withered rapidly, causing it to gape in shock. It suddenly turned to look toward Meng Hao and the residence, clearly astonished. Then it let out the most shrill, anxious squawk that it had ever uttered since it had begun to follow Meng Hao.
It was usually quite calm and collected. It had never reacted this strongly to anything, not even when it ran into the most luxuriantly furred or feathered creatures. It seemed so nervous that it might collapse at any moment, as if the sky were about to fall or the entire world was about to explode.
“He’s still alive!!” the parrot shrieked. Then it shot toward the residence at top speed, looking completely flustered. It went so fast that numerous feathers were stripped off of it, falling to the ground. Its body shivered with unprecedented terror.
Inside the residence, Meng Hao’s eyes widened at the intensity of the aura, an aura that seemed to either ignore or trample upon all natural laws. It was vastly domineering, as if the Heavens and the starry sky both might be crushed by its terrifying energy.
Suddenly, he could hear a pulsating voice murmuring from within the mirror. It was archaic, seemingly stretching out from ancient times, causing his mind to reel. All of a sudden, countless images flickered in his eyes.
Of all those various images, there were only three that he could see clearly. The rest were flickering blurs. However, the three images he could see caused his scalp to go numb, and his expression to fill with a look of disbelief and utter astonishment.
The first image was that of the Heavens and a starless sky. It was a picture of chaos. There were no heavenly bodies, only emptiness. Then, a beam of light appeared, shooting along at top speed. Within the flickering light, shockingly… was the copper mirror!!
As it flew along, the surface of the mirror flickered. Immediately a heavenly body appeared off to the side. It proceeded along, one after another heavenly body appeared without pause.
In the end its flickering… caused the starry sky to appear, as if it were creating whole worlds!!
The Saint-Emperor smiled, and in response to the Vile-Emperor’s coldness, spoke in the warmest of voices. “It’s been a long time since any damaged treasures fell into the Eternal Immortal Domains from the void. If it weren’t for the vortex created by Bai Xiaochun upon becoming a celestial, it would never even have come. The Saint-Emperor Dynasty can claim credit for this damaged fan. Based on that, do you really think I’ll let you have six spots? Impossible!”
The Vile-Emperor chuckled coldly. Ignoring the Saint-Emperor, he focused on the incoming fan, which was now little more than a streak of light.
Anyone other than these two who were this close to the fan would likely have been killed. But they were archaeans, and were therefore qualified to observe it from this close distance.
Closer and closer….
After a few breaths of time passed, the huge fan slammed into the continent-sized hand of the gigantic sovereign, causing a massive rumbling sound to fill the Eternal Immortal Domains!
It was louder than heavenly thunder, and caused the five immortal domains to tremble. The Eternal Sea churned and heaved wildly.
Bai Xiaochun hovered in midair as the deafening sound rolled out, looking up in the direction of the enormous sovereign’s right hand. There, teetering back and forth… was an enormous, damaged fan!
He could sense something otherworldly about the fan, and the aura which spread out from it into the Eternal Immortal Domains reminded Bai Xiaochun very much of what it felt like to be in the presence of the Saint-Emperor.
“That’s….” Not too far off, Gu Tianjun and the other celestials were also in the air, shaken as they stared up at the fan.
“An archaean magical item….”
“That aura… is described in certain ancient records. It’s the aura of the Immortal from before the great destruction!!”
It wasn’t just Gu Tianjun and the other celestials who were shaken. The celestials in the Vile-Emperor Dynasty were equally stunned. Even Gongsun Wan’er, who was in a distant location at the moment, was taken aback.
There were also many demigod experts within the Eternal Immortal Domains who were now staring up at the enormous damaged fan, their eyes burning with passion.
The enormous hand was not harmed by the fan slamming into it, and in fact, didn’t even move at all in response. But as for the fan, it was severely damaged by the force of the impact. Cracks spread out on its already damaged surface, and then, chunks and rubble began to fall down off it, becoming like blazing meteorites that rained down onto the Eternal Immortal Domains.
There were millions of chunks of such rubble, all of which shot down with shocking speed and energy.
In that very moment, both the Saint-Emperor and the Vile-Emperor took action. Their hands blurred with incantation gestures, causing two immense fields of light to shoot out.
One field was blackish violet, the other was made of five colors, and wherever they went, they transformed the falling rubble into ash. Afterward, both of the emperors sent divine sense out to touch the huge fan.
Although the huge fan was severely damaged, both the face and the frame of the fan remained intact. As for the image depicted on the face of the fan, it was that of an entire world.
“It’s a world treasure. Sadly, it’s energy is fading. Who knows how many things it struck on its journey through the stars. It’s already crumbling and worthless.” Both the Vile-Emperor and the Saint-Emperor shook their heads as they continued to scan the fan.
In the end, they confirmed that the fan did not, in fact, have any of the aura of a sovereign on it. It only contained archaean fluctuations, much the same as the two of them emanated. In fact, it was a bit weaker than that.
Had the fan been a sovereign-level treasure, they would have been very excited, and would have gone to investigate it themselves. But it was not such a treasure, making it of little interest to the two emperors.
However, even as they retracted their divine sense, something else happened. Among all of the countless bits of falling rubble that were being destroyed by the divine abilities they had just unleashed, there was a mountain-sized building. When the building was shattered, a lump of decaying black stone shot out from it! The black rock was vastly smaller than the building around it. But as the building fell apart, the rock completely ignored the beams of light sent out by the Saint-Emperor and the Vile-Emperor, and continued downward toward the Eternal Immortal Domains.
As it descended, it burst into intensely hot flames!
The suddenness of the development caused the faces of the Vile-Emperor and the Saint-Emperor to fall. Both of them could tell that the rock didn’t come from the fan… it came from the enormous sovereign who loomed over the Eternal Immortal Domains!
“Dammit!” Eyes radiating anxiety, the Saint-Emperor burst into motion, heading directly toward the black rock. The Vile-Emperor also began to advance. However, at the same time, he performed an incantation gesture with his right hand, and then pushed it out toward the Saint-Emperor.
The Saint-Emperor immediately vanished, reappearing some distance away with a look of rage on his face.
“What are you doing, Vile-Emperor?!?!”
“What am I doing? Either one of us could use a chunk of that sovereign’s flesh for augury purposes. It could contain secrets about how to break through to the Sovereign Realm! You think I’ll just let you have it?!” Chuckling coldly, he began to rush toward the chunk of black stone.
Killing intent sprang up in the eyes of the Saint-Emperor as he too began to rush toward the rock again. Moments later, the two of them began to launch Daoist magics back and forth against each other as the black rock continued to speed downward. As it did, the rock suddenly split open and began to spew out a dark liquid, as well as something that sounded like a howling voice!
Then, a boom rang out as the rock and the liquid slammed into the surface of the Eternal Sea. As a massive wave rolled out, the rock began to sink down to the bottom of the sea.
The Vile-Emperor and the Saint-Emperor rushed down into the sea to follow it, causing more massive waves to roll out across the surface of the water. Even the immortal domains trembled as a result of what was happening.
Thankfully, the process didn’t last for very long. Moments later, both of the emperors emerged from the sea, grim looks on their faces as they exchanged murderous glances.
“You’d better compensate me for this, Saint-Emperor!”
“It got away! You should be the one compensating me!” They stared at each other icily for a few breaths of time, then turned and left the Eternal Sea to return to their respective immortal domains to search for clues about where the black rock was.
No one except for the two emperors knew exactly what it was they were searching for. After all, few people qualified to have been able to observe what happened with the black meteorite. Furthermore, the aura emanating from the teetering fan up above had completely attracted the attention of the celestials and demigods!
Much talk spread through the immortal domains of the two dynasties during the following weeks.
“Back when the Saint-Emperor Dynasty was surrounded and about to be defeated by the Vile-Emperor Dynasty, the Saint-Emperor suddenly reached the Archaean Realm. It was all because he found a palace that had been floating in the void for countless years!”
“No one knows exactly what he found inside of that palace, but after coming out from it, he was in the Archaean Realm!”
“According to the ancient records I’ve read, every ten thousand years or so, a ruined object from beyond the heavens will fall into the Eternal Immortal Domains. They’re always objects of good fortune for us cultivators!”
Quite a few cultivators began to eye the damaged fan with deep hope.
Demigods and celestials alike were all convinced that there was an archaean aura in the fan, which indicated… that there was a high likelihood that it could provide assistance in reaching the Archaean Realm!
Bai Xiaochun heard a lot of talk about the fan. Furthermore, now that he was a celestial, he had access to ancient records that most other cultivators could never peruse.
“According to the legends, that enormous sovereign destroyed all of the tens of thousands of realms that once existed in the starry sky….
“In that moment, the entire starry sky turned dark as countless worlds were exterminated. Nothing remained alive. The only things left behind were endless wilds and ruins, never-ending amounts of dust and bone….
“Occasionally, some of those ruins will float past the Eternal Immortal Domains…. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, they become good fortune for the cultivators of the Eternal Immortal Domains!”
After studying the jade slip carefully, Bai Xiaochun was quite certain about the origin and nature of the fan.
“An archaean aura…. a damaged world treasure!” He looked up at the huge fan with excitement. From the way it was visibly teetering back and forth, anyone could see that before long, it would fall off the sovereign’s hand and then continue on its way through the starry sky!
For unknown reasons, neither the Saint-Emperor nor the Vile-Emperor seemed inclined to try to keep the fan. Nor did they issue any orders for their subordinates to explore it and search for good fortune. And without their help, not even celestials could possibly reach the fan!
The celestials from the two dynasties spent half a month waiting in eager anticipation, during which time neither the Saint-Emperor nor the Vile-Emperor even made public appearances.
A few more days went by, and finally, the Saint-Emperor returned. When he did, he sent his divine sense out into Saint-Emperor City and summoned the court officials for an audience.
It was impossible to tell what he was thinking, but there was definitely something grim to his expression. IMPRISON THAT WITCH As the officials gathered in the imperial palace, they could see that, and began to get nervous.
Even Bai Xiaochun was acting especially cautious. Thankfully, he hadn’t done anything to arouse public wrath recently, which made him a bit more confident.
The Saint-Emperor currently stood in front of the Dragon Throne, looking around at the gathered cultivators. He didn’t bother with the warm expression he usually wore. It almost seemed like he had taken off a mask to reveal his true expression. His eyes were cold, and his cultivation base emitted powerful fluctuations that weighed down heavily on all of the cultivators in the imperial palace.
Gu Tianjun and the other celestials exchanged glances, their hearts pounding with sensations of foreboding.
The imperial palace was completely silent as the Saint-Emperor looked at his subordinates, and mentally reviewed everything he had done in the past half month. Unfortunately, no matter what he did, no clues had turned up.
As far as the damaged fan went, although it contained good fortune, it was nothing that the Saint-Emperor cared too much for. Furthermore, the black rock was a bad omen that he didn’t want to have much to do with.
However, it demanded an investigation. Only after performing that investigation had he returned and summoned his subordinates to make arrangements to send people to the fan!
“Gu Tianjun. Sima Yunhua.” In response to his words, Gu Tianjun and the scholarly celestial both stepped forward and clasped hands respectfully.
“I would like to trouble the two of you to take a trip to the damaged fan up in the sky. If there is good fortune to be had, the two of you will have a chance to get it.” As Gu Tianjun and Sima Yunhua both looked up, the Saint-Emperor suddenly transmitted some words into their minds that only they could hear.
“Furthermore, you will check to see whether the damaged fan has anything to do with the gigantic sovereign! A chunk of the sovereign’s flesh and blood fell in the form of a stone, which landed in the Eternal Sea and then vanished.”
In response to his words, serious expressions overtook the faces of Gu Tianjun and Sima Yunhua.
Bai Xiaochun maintained full vigilance as this happened. Although he wasn’t sure what the Saint-Emperor had just said to Gu Tianjun and Sima Yunhua, he had the feeling that it had something to with the fan, which only seemed to grow more and more mysterious.
As he pondered the situation, the Saint-Emperor began to list the names of some of the demigods who would assist Gu Tianjun and Sima Yunhua in their venture. Eventually, his gaze came to fall on Bai Xiaochun, who was trying to remain hidden toward the back of the crowd. Thinking about all of the official requests he had received half a month ago, the Saint-Emperor snorted coldly in his heart.
“Duke Heavenspan has become a celestial, so therefore, has earned the title of King Heavenspan. He will also participate in this mission.”
Bai Xiaochun’s heart leapt into his throat. A few days ago, he would have been excited by this opportunity, but now, he had a very ill premonition.
“Saint-Emperor, Your Majesty, um, I’ve been feeling a bit under the weather lately and–“
At this point, the Saint-Emperor turned and began to walk off.
“The matter’s settled!” he said with decisiveness that could sever nails and chop iron. “In three days, I’ll personally send all of you off!”
Next Chapter Bai Xiaochun scowled miserably as the Saint-Emperor walked off. By now, he could see that there was more to this damaged fan mission than met the eye.
That was especially true considering that the Saint-Emperor had essentially gone missing for half a month. Clearly, that had something to do with the fan. When you added in the grim look in the Saint-Emperor’s eyes, it caused Bai Xiaochun to feel very nervous.
Of course, the surrounding court officials were all delighting in Bai Xiaochun’s potential misfortune. By now, all of them were very clear about how well Bai Xiaochun could cause disasters. Whether it was the heavenly dragonfish, the lotus seed, or the lotus roots, all of them were convinced that if Bai Xiaochun stayed in Saint-Emperor City, it would definitely cause chaos.
As far as they were concerned, the Saint-Emperor was being very wise, intelligent, and courageous to send Bai Xiaochun away.
However, none of them allowed their true feelings to show on their faces. Some of them took the initiative to call out greetings to Bai Xiaochun, and even chat with him.
“Congratulations, King Heavenspan! You’re a celestial now. Ha ha, how careless of me to have forgotten to congratulate you earlier! Please, I hope you take no offense!”
“Oh how the Saint-Emperor dotes on you, King Heavenspan! And how jealous I am that you get to search for good fortune in that treasure from beyond the heavens!”
“Best wishes, Heavenly King. I’m sure you’ll meet with instant success, and achieve great benefits!”
After clasping hands and offering such words, the cultivators would leave, chuckling sarcastically in their hearts.
Only Heavenly Marquis Liu seemed to think that the Saint-Emperor had made a bad decision, based on everything he knew about Bai Xiaochun. However, he also felt as though there was more to the story than he understood, and in the end, just sighed and left.
The truth was that the little turtle had come to be a source of much frustration. Although he had been in high spirits because of the incident with the lotus roots, considering he had no evidence to support his claims that Bai Xiaochun was at fault, he didn’t dare to say anything publicly.
After everyone left, Bai Xiaochun stood there miserably for a long moment, before finally shaking his head and heading back to his blessed land. There, he sat down and began to mull over the situation further.
“I’m a celestial, which makes me a lot stronger than before. But for some reason, the Saint-Emperor is in a really bad mood. Furthermore, that damaged fan is definitely going to be very dangerous.” The more he thought about it, the less at ease he felt about the Saint-Emperor’s orders. Furthermore, his final words had been spoken with extreme decisiveness, and also in very threatening fashion. Clearly, if Bai Xiaochun didn’t follow orders, he would be gravely punished.
“Maybe instead of being so cautious, I should go all out from the beginning?” After some more thought, he gritted his teeth and nodded. It wasn’t that he suddenly didn’t fear death. Rather, considering that he would be part of a large group of people, as long as he was careful and didn’t get greedy, his celestial cultivation base should be enough to protect him.
If he had been sent in alone, then he wouldn’t have agreed to go inside the fan no matter what.
“Well, since I’m going, I need to make sure I’m fully prepared.” His hair was already getting disheveled from all the worry. Not wanting to waste any time, he went out and began to spend all the resources he had built up during his time in Saint-Emperor City to start making the proper preparations. Talismans. Magical items. Medicinal pills. He bought all sorts of things.
Meanwhile, word was spreading both within Saint-Emperor City, and in the rest of the dynasty at large, that the Saint-Emperor was sending three celestials into the damaged fan.
There were many people who weren’t in the know that, upon finding out the names of the celestials who would be going to the damaged fan, reached out in the hopes of coming along. The Saint-Emperor didn’t stop that from happening. In fact, it wasn’t just the celestials who this happened to. Even demigod experts such as Preceptor Seadeep began to get groups of followers, all of whom would theoretically have a chance to benefit from going on the mission.
Word spread, and the fact that the mission was rumored to be very dangerous only made some people more interested than before. After all, many people in the cultivation world believed that rewards came only with risk. Therefore, a few days later, when the bells tolled in the imperial palace, Gu Tianjun, Sima Yunhua, as well as the six demigods, including Preceptor Seadeep, each arrived with teams to back them up, teams that had dozens of devas in them.
Everyone was gathered, except for Bai Xiaochun.
Bai Xiaochun had just hurried out of his blessed land. Looking back over his shoulder at the place where he had lived for over a year, he sighed.
“I’m not sure when I’ll be back….” Slapping his bag of holding, he produced several suits of leather armor. If he had had more multi-colored flame, he would have performed more spirit enhancements. But right now, he couldn’t afford to even perform twentyfold enhancements on all of them.
As he walked along, he put on all of the armor, each piece of which was branded with a defensive magical symbol….
Still not happy, he checked around quickly to make sure no one was watching, and then took out his turtle-wok and hung it on his chest like a breastplate. Then he covered it with leather armor. From a distance, his normally thin frame now looked much the opposite. He almost looked like a big ball rolling along. In addition to all of that, he had a black helmet that glowed with the light of a defensive spell formation, as well as a second, larger wok that he strapped on his back.
Anyone from the River-Defying Sect would find this sight very familiar. But these were the Eternal Lands, and thus, everyone who saw him was stunned. The guards outside the imperial palace hardly recognized him.
And when he arrived in the palace square, Gu Tianjun, Sima Yunhua, Preceptor Seadeep, and all of the others who were already there waiting were all visibly stunned. Only when he trundled to a stop next to them did people finally get around to reacting.
“Uh… why is he wearing so much stuff…?”
“Heavens! This Bai Xiaochun has enough defensive magical items to protect a hundred-man army!!”
“Look at that helmet! It’s so hot today, isn’t he uncomfortable…?”
“Forget the helmet. Look at that wok! Unbelievable! Where did he even get it?”
“The militia here have tanks and artillery,” said Big Ivan.
The Madman stopped talking. There was a fleet of eight cars, each of which could carry eight people. However, they brought along a lot of luggage and so each car could only sit four to six people.
The engines of the eight vehicles roared, and with the momentum of Godzilla on the road, they rushed north along the highway.
One thousand kilometers later, the road conditions became vastly different.
The infrastructure in the Siberian region was very primitive. The city and its surrounding area had pretty decent infrastructure, and the roads were well-maintained. As they penetrated the more deserted area, the road seemed to disappear very soon.
In that vast region, there were no roads connecting the cities and towns. From that, it could be deduced that Russia’s finances were in an embarrassing state. Compared with the United States and China, the regional development was far from decent.
Had they been driving a regular car, they would have probably been hopelessly stuck after leaving the highway. However, in their current vehicles, even without roads in the taiga, the ride was still a smooth one.
On that day, the road did not disappear right after they exited the city. It was only after five hours on the road, when they were far from the city, that they really entered the wild Siberia. That was when they faced the situation of having no proper road to travel on.
Of course, if they went directly to the Evenkiysky Autonomous District, it would not be completely road-less. Li Du and his group had wanted to go through the wilderness area to try their luck at bumping into some ivory hunters to ask them about news of the Black Snake.
A satellite positioning system had been installed in the car. After switching it on, road directions appeared. They continued their journey down the deserted path.
However, they were in bad luck. Although the sun had been shining brightly in the morning, the sky suddenly turned gloomy in the afternoon.
Li Du asked, “Will it snow?”
Hudi, who was in the same car, wore a serious expression. After staring out of the car window for a few minutes, he said, “No, it looks like the wind will be strong, but there won’t be snow.”
Li Du heaved a sigh of relief and said, “Thank God. The road conditions are poor enough even without rain or snow.”
At that point, they were already very far away from the nearest city. The car had entered a flat taiga area of small gravel terrain and muddy slush. The car had to pull through the road conditions.
Peering out of the window, Li Du did not see many trees nearby. Instead, he only saw some fluffy balls of various sizes rolling around on the ground.
Prior to the trip, he had done his research and now knew what the fluffy balls were.
Those were bunches of tumbleweed, also known as the Prickly Russian Thistle. It was an annual herbaceous plant with a height ranging from 10 to 100 cm, defined as a semi-shrub or shrub.
As the name suggested, tumbleweed could be lifted by the wind. The plants were shaped like balls, large grass balls with dry, fine foliage.
Most people referred to the plant as a “nomad”. It was more common in the Siberian wilderness. When the drought came, the plants would detach their roots from the soil, roll into a coil and be carried by the wind until they arrived somewhere with abundant water, There, they would re-root to survive.
home and bored so I wrote bored 5000 times It was a plant with a strong will to live. As long as the environment was not too extreme, it would usually survive. As the wind brought the plants to new areas, they would likely find a place suitable for them to grow new roots and germinate.
Li Du only glanced briefly at the tumbleweed. Such plants were common in the wilderness and were nothing special.
However, he learned of the power of those plants not long after.
The car carried on for around another hour in the gloomy weather when the wind started to grow stronger.
The first to be affected were the tumbleweed balls. They flew in all directions with the wind and from time to time would smash against the car.
Of course, as they were light, they did not cause any harm to the car. However, they did impair their vision from inside the vehicle. Besides, the tumbleweed was curved and had many rough bristles on the outer surface, hence the balls would stick to each other once they came together.
Just like that, when the wind grew stronger, they would be blown together and clump into one. Then its volume would be enlarged, and the grass ball of less than one meter in diameter would turn into a huge monster of five, six, or even ten meters!
Seeing that strange phenomenon, Li Du took a deep breath and said, “D*mn, why are there so many of these things?”
Hudi became anxious and said, “Bad luck. We have entered into a region where there is plenty of tumbleweeds. Hurry up and tell everyone to stop the cars and prepare to hide from the wind…”
The wind had already gotten much stronger, not only flinging the tumbleweed around also moving pebbles and clumps of earth.
While the tumbleweed was gentle and light, it was of no harm. However, it was entirely different with the pebbles and earth clods!
‘Pitter-patter, pitter-patter!’ The gravel and icy mud hit against the windows like a drum, while clumps of tumbleweed rolled towards the car. Old Driver did not dare to steer the wheel. The ground was too slippery, the wind was fierce. Turning the car could cause it to flip.
There was nothing they could do but drive on and let the clumps of tumbleweed bump head-on against the car. Otherwise, they risked losing their way.
As a result, no one in the car could see anything anymore. Li Du immediately spoke into the walkie-talkie, “We have met with trouble, folks. How is it going with you guys?”
Steve’s voice sounded, “The situation is not ideal… buzz-buzz… our car is stuck in a mud hole…buzz…buzz…”
The line went dead.
In the car behind, Brother Wolf said, “Boss, stop the car, we will catch up… buzz…buzz. Can hear… buzz.. we are at… buzz…”
“F*ck!” Li Du cursed.
Driver said, “We can’t stop the car! Brother Wolf, do not stop the car! Otherwise, the wind will blow up the muddy water and flood the exhaust pipe. The car will not start again!”
The walkie-talkie became silent. Li Du looked at the signal and noticed that it was gone.
Hudi gritted his teeth and said, “We can’t count on the others anymore. We have to resolve this ourselves. Continue to drive forward, drive slow and I will study the terrain from the back rear window.”
The walkie-talkie rang out again. It was Hawking. “There’s a temporary campsite around here. Try to find it, everyone. Let’s split up and search for it. We can hide from the wind there. Don’t be afraid, such wind is very common in Siberia in the spring. It’s no biggie.”
Li Du’s car was in the direst situation. The car was head-on with the clumps of tumbleweed. They were driving without the ability to see anything in front of them.
He asked Hudi, “Do you know this temporary campsite?”
Hudi replied, “I think I have seen it. Drive slowly and let’s look out for it.”
Driver said coldly, “Even if I wanted to drive fast, I can’t, buddy.”
The car continued slowly and the wind blew with a strength that Li Du had never witnessed before. Even the tornado he experienced in Mexico was nothing compared to this.
The wind blew stronger and stronger and the tumbleweed on the car were all blown away. The people in the car relaxed, but outside, the sky started to darken rapidly. A dust storm was coming!
Spring was a very dry season in Siberia. The earth was coated with broken pebbles and frozen mud. Beneath lay the dry earth.
When the pebbles and mud bits were blown off, the strong wind would blow up the dry earth and create a dust storm.
“D*mn it!” Li Du said helplessly.
Ah Ow and the rest peered out from the window. The weather had frightened them and their tails were all resting in between their legs. All of them were paying attention to Li Du, however, and following orders.
In the dark dust storm, Hudi continued to try his best to evaluate the surroundings. Finally, his face broke into a smile as he pointed to the front and said, “Go in the ten o’clock direction, there’s a temporary campsite!” Chapter 36 – Lower Your Sword!

I turned around and saw Ageless Beauty staring at me with a pair of cold eyes. At the moment of my death, I heard some cold words, “This is what you get for going against Tyrant of Western Chu.”
My body became limp, and I went into the soul status. I respawned in a nearby graveyard, which was near the NPC guard post that I encountered before. Going to the Black-Blooded cave should only take around 10 minutes, but, while ‘saving’ Ageless from danger, I killed a musketeer, and my name became red. Because of that, I dropped an extra level when I died, dropping from 27 straight down to 25. Sigh. What a huge loss!
I stood alone at the graveyard, and checked my item and equipment. I seemed to have dropped my white-tiered cloth wrist and leg guards, but luckily I didn’t drop my Ancient Shining Spear, or else that really would have made my heart break. Also, some other non-essential equipment from my bag also dropped. A red-named player’s item drop rate was really huge.
I clenched my first, and thought back. Ageless Beauty was definitely part of Liu Ying’s group. That guy, to make me take the bait, he used Ageless and Wind Chaser to create such a scene, and Wind Chaser even sacrificed 2 levels for Ageless to gain my trust and empathy. All in all, it was a betrayal, sigh…
Without any rage, I smiled slightly, and took my Ancient Spear. In my soul form, I headed towards the Black-Blooded cave. At the same time, I opened my pet window, and my mood switched instantly. Not towards anger, but towards ecstasy, because in my pet window, I had an extra pet, a Fire Skeleton with lingering flames around it!
I waved my hand over it, and the stats of the Fire Skeleton popped in front of my face, which made me even happier–
The line of words floated in front of me, and I felt like my whole body had been electrocuted. Damn, this luck. This might be the first pet that had 100% excellence. Looking at this Fire Skeleton’s attack, HP, and the 100% excellence, wasn’t this a godly pet? In fact, compared to my previous sales of the Silver-Feathered Bird, Killer Bee etc, this Fire Skeleton was on another level!
Great, even though I didn’t finish my mission this time, it was fine. This Fire Skeleton would sell for at least 100 gold coins! I was rich!
I made my way back, and returned to the 3rd level of the cave. Looking from afar, I noticed that Tyrant of Western Chu, Ageless Beauty and Wind Chaser etc. were grouping together to clear out the Fire Skeletons, slowly advancing towards the staircase going to the 4th level.
My corpse was within the group of people, silently laying there. A system notification said that I could revive right now, but I instantly clicked the ‘No’ button. If I revived right now I would get slaughtered instantly!
Looking at my corpse. Ageless Beauty frowned slightly, and said, “Xiao Yao Zi Zai must really hate me right now…”
Wind Chaser spun around and said, “Don’t worry about it. The moment this person entered Ba Huang City he has been obstructing [Wrath of the Heroes]’ plans. Hmph, he deserves to die!”
Yan Suo held her dagger and said “This…Xiao Yao Zi Zai, is he really Li Xiao Yao, a first year in our Liu Hua university?”
“Yeah, you should be able to check the archives. Li Xiao Yao, a newcomer in the Chinese department’s class 1.”
Yan Suo still seemed very worried.
Liu Ying held his sword and walked towards her. He embraced her, “Xu Yue, why are you so worried? Remember, you are my woman, you need to forever stand by me! Is it that…you’ve fallen for that little brat?”
Yan Suo’s little mouth opened, but she said nothing. After a short while, she suddenly hit Liu Ying’s chest and smiled, “What kind of joke is that? I fall for Li Xiao Yao? Impossible. Although he’s very handsome, I don’t like weak people. Don’t tell me that it’s not clear to you who I like?”
Liu Ying laughed, lowered his head and kissed Ageless’ lips. “After we finish this map, we’ll properly enjoy ourselves! Haha!”
Yan Suo’s face became red, and she continue stay in Liu Ying’s embrace.
While holding a gun, Piggy ran towards them, “Cough, Boss. We need to hurry and kill off the monsters so we can enter the 4th level quick right? I feel like Xiao Yao’s soul has already come back, or maybe he’s even watching at this moment. Are you trying to anger him to death by showing all this love? You know what they say, the more love you show, the faster you die…”
Liu Ying raised his eyebrows, and shouted into the empty space behind him, “Li Xiao Yao, do you see this? She’s mine, don’t even think about touching her you little brat!”
I clenched my fists and stood there without moving. A gentleman’s revenge could wait 10 years! Doomsday Pillars I must have patience.
After half an hour or so, the 40+ people from [Wrath of the Heroes] completely wiped out the Fire Skeletons, and they even got a few Green-ranked equipment from the drops. All of them were excited, and praised this cave.
The moment before entering the 4th level, Tyrant of Western Chu glanced at my corpse, and said, “You three, stay here to look over his corpse. The rest follow with me into the 4th level, the boss in the cave should still be there, don’t let him ruin our boss hunting!”
One knight and two musketeers stayed next to my corpse.
I chose not to revive, and I followed them in my soul form into the 4th level of the cave. The 4th level was occupied by Black-blood zombies, level 33 monsters with very high attack damage. But Liu Ying had brought 40+ people, all over level 20 and promoted, so killing the Black-blood zombies was a piece of cake.
I stood in the corridor of the 4th floor, and looked from afar. Mm, behind the crowds of Black-blooded zombies, there was a grey shadow sitting quietly. He was holding a staff, with loose hair, and his whole face was black. He didn’t look anything like a human nor a ghost, extremely frightening. Hovering over him were some eye-catching words–
[Mage Bi Ke]（Gold-ranked Boss）
The Goddess Dion was startled as she looked at Yi Ping with melancholy eyes before she answered softly, “It is…”
But she quickly regained her composure to say, “Let’s us be on our way.”
They did not talk further after this.
When they had entered through the gates of the Verdant Palace, Yi Ping first impression was that it was only too imposing and that no words could describe its grandness.
The Goddess Dion said quietly, “We have almost reached. After this is the Antiquity Hall of the Universe.”
There were hundreds of Desolate Immortals in the grand hall when Yi Ping had entered it. All the Desolate Immortals were all talking among themselves.
Upon Yi Ping’s approach, almost all of them stopped their conversations and were looking into his direction!
Yi Ping immediately felt uneasy at the many eyes that were upon him and he wondered why they were all looking at him with such weird expression?
All of a sudden the Great Lord Shenmu had hastily walked from the crowd as he laughed jovially, “So our most important guest of honor is here. Quick summon the Great Lord Xuan Yuan now!”
He turned around to laugh loudly, “Open your eyes! He is the one that have fought against the two bitches earlier! What do we call him? He is the hero of the Verdant Palace!”
At the loud announcement of the Great Lord Shenmu, all the Desolate Immortals quickly greeted Yi Ping at the same time, causing the grand hall to explode with their outbursts!
The Great Lord Shenmu laughed jovially as he patted Yi Ping on his shoulder, “Look! You are so popular already!”
Yi Ping smiled weakly, “Not at all…”
“Not at all? So someone gains his popularity because of someone here decides to call us bitches?” A familiar feminine said unhappily.
Immediately the Great Lord Shenmu and the rest of the crowd fell into dead silent as the Dark Goddess Xia Hsien and the Heaven Goddess Zero walked into the grand hall!
The Dark Goddess Xia Hsien stared coldly at the Great Lord Shenmu as she continued, “Eh, do you dare to say it again in front of my face again?”
The Great Lord Shenmu began to fluster as he said quickly, “I don’t mean it…”
The Dark Goddess Xia Hsien interrupted coldly, “You don’t mean it or you don’t dare to say it?”
Many of the Desolate Immortals were caught in a dilemma. They had never seen the Great Lord Shenmu looked this flustered before.
One of the Desolate Immortals quickly said aloud, “This is the domain of the Great Lord Xuan Yuan and the Great Lord Shenmu. Do you think that with your current immortal positioning, you are even fit to address the Great Lord Shenmu in this manner?”
Perhaps he thought he could score some points with the Great Lord Shenmu by speaking on his behalf but instead of gaining appreciation, the Great Lord Shenmu turned to look at him angrily before he said rudely. “Do you think you are even fit to address the two Great Goddesses?”
That Desolate Immortal immediately turned ashen as he quickly lowered his head awkwardly!
The Dark Goddess Xia Hsien raised her eyebrows in surprise as she looked at the Great Lord Shenmu before she said coldly, “I am glad you still have some saving grace after all.”
The Heaven Goddess Zero looked at Yi Ping with a smile, “So you are a hero of the Verdant Palace now? What a pity that you have chosen to be their lackeys!”
Yi Ping knew that she was trying to provoke him but he was calm. He was usually not bothered with petty meddles. But if it was a fight then maybe he would really be interested but he was not the type to pick a fight because he liked to fight.
The Great Lord Shenmu asked weakly, “May I know what brings our two Great Goddesses here?”
The Heaven Goddess Zero looked a little annoyed that Yi Ping had remained expressionless but she answered nonetheless to the Great Lord Shenmu, “We are here to attend the grand unison of the Great Lord Xuan Yuan naturally. Why else should we be here for?”
The Great Lord Shenmu groaned, “The Firmament Citadel has never ever sent any representatives to the Verdant Palace. I am just so surprised.”
The Heaven Goddess Zero hummed coldly, “Things may change. After all, if we did not come today then we may never know what you are calling us behind our back!”
The Great Lord Shenmu smiled weakly as he said, “Please be seated then!”
When he had pointed to a corner, a lingering fragrance had entered the great hall and said sweetly, “Hey. Look who here? It is the two bitches from the Firmament Citadel!”
Everyone in the grand hall, including Yi Ping and the Great Lord Shenmu were startled by the sweet voice.
The Dark Goddess Xia Hsien and the Heaven Goddess Zero were equally startled as they turned around just in time to witness the Alluring Goddess Theresa walking into the grand hall!
The crowd was even more startled to see the Alluring Goddess Theresa than the Dark Goddess Xia Hsien and the Heaven Goddess Zero!
The Dark Goddess Xia Hsien hummed coldly, “I have thought who is here. So it is the Queen of the Bitches that is here!”
The Alluring Goddess Theresa laughed alluringly, “Ye, ye! Your queen is here now. Hurry and bow before me!”
The Dark Goddess Xia Hsien laughed jovially, “Are you so shameless? If I really bow to you then I will have to address you as that title.”
The Heaven Goddess Zero smiled, “Then it will be such a great loss of face for you!”
The Alluring Goddess Theresa smiled faintly, “If you dare, I don’t mind. After all, I have two little bitches here for company.”
The Great Lord Shenmu interrupted politely, “I don’t know that the Alluring Goddess Theresa will be here today or else I will surely give you a grand welcome.”
The Alluring Goddess Theresa smiled sweetly, “Alas, I have never liked to attend this type of occasion. But…”
She shot a glance at the Dark Goddess Xia Hsien and the Heaven Goddess Zero as she said coldly, “If they can be here for the first time then why can’t I come as well?”
The Great Lord Shenmu was render almost speechless as he muttered, “Yes, yes. Come, come…”
The Dark Goddess Xia Hsien said all of a sudden, “Since the Alluring Goddess Theresa is here to attend the unison ceremony then we shall not impose ourselves anymore…”
The Great Lord Shenmu panicky said, “It is alright. You…can stay…not imposing at all…”
Yi Ping smiled weakly. It was because it was only too obvious to him that the Great Lord Shenmu wanted the Dark Goddess Xia Hsien to stay as long as possible.
The Dark Goddess Xia Hsien pointed at Yi Ping all of a sudden, “Why are you smiling like this? How dare you take liberties with us yesterday and now this!”
She turned to look at the Great Lord Shenmu, “Everyone knows what had happened in the street yesterday and now you have witnessed his outrageous smile. Great Lord Shenmu, if you still value the close ties between the Verdant Palace and the Firmament Citadel then surrender him to us!”
Yi Ping smiled bitterly to himself. Even he could see plainly that they were here for him and that attending the unison ceremony was just their lame excuse…
The Heaven Goddess Zero smiled as she looked intently at Yi Ping, “Do you dare to come with us? We promise that we won’t eat you up.”
She added quickly as she looked at the Great Lord Shenmu and the Alluring Goddess Theresa as she whispered, “It will be more dangerous if you are in their company.”
The Alluring Goddess Theresa said coldly, “We are not deaf, you know. Fancy you slandering us right in front of us.”
The Dark Goddess Xia Hsien said firmly, “I am not asking you. I am asking him!”
The Great Lord Shenmu said with equal firmness, “He is a guest of the Verdant Palace. You can’t take him away just like this!”
The Heaven Goddess Zero interrupted, “But he don’t look like a guest. More like a captive of the Verdant Palace, am I right?”
The Alluring Goddess Theresa smiled faintly as she looked at the Great Lord Shenmu, “What a tricky question. Only idiots will answer that…”
But the Great Lord Shenmu had already answered, “Of course not!…”
The Heaven Goddess Zero laughed softly, “Good! The Fall of the World Since he is a guest and not a captive of the Verdant Palace then he is free to leave as he wishes. You have heard the Great Lord Shenmu!”
The Great Lord Shenmu was startled as he quickly protested, “No, that is not what I mean…”
The Heaven Goddess Zero immediately reached out for Yi Ping as she smirked coldly, “Then good! I am taking him away now!”
But before Yi Ping could move away from her, the Alluring Goddess Theresa had intercepted the Heaven Goddess Zero with a quick hand attack as she laughed along. “Wait a minute! I am taking him away as well!”
The Heaven Goddess Zero retaliated with several quick fists as she said coldly, “I beg your pardon again! We have claimed him first!”
The Dark Goddess Xia Hsien had also joined in the fight as she raised her fists against the Alluring Goddess Theresa, “You claim to be the number one fighter so two of us versus you isn’t so shameful, isn’t it?”
In the next instant, dozens of shadow fists were flurried in all directions as the three maidens began to fight in earnest!
Yi Ping quickly exclaimed aloud, “Wait! Stop it! Great Lord Shenmu, you are not stopping them?”
The Great Lord Shenmu smiled weakly, “I only know how to fight and I don’t know how to stop them…”
Yi Ping was exasperated as he quickly dashed into their midst as he displayed the Asper Continuum, immediately displaying dozens of shadowy palms around him!
The three maidens quickly increased the pace of their attacks and they were all fighting Yi Ping at the same time now!
The Alluring Goddess Theresa smiled, “Hero, don’t think that because I want you, I will be inclined to show mercy. That won’t be the case. That is because…”
All of a sudden there were five brilliant white lights as she switched her palm to a claw attack, imploding thunderously and dispersing Yi Ping’s Asper Continuum!
Yi Ping was secretly startled, “She can break my strokes in such a short time?”
No sooner was Yi Ping caught off guarded, the Dark Goddess Xia Hsien and the Heaven Goddess Zero had struck him on his chest at the same time with a thunderous impact, sending him to fly backward!
The Heaven Goddess Zero giggled softly at the same time she had struck Yi Ping, “Oh sorry! I can’t resist taking some advantage! Is it painful?”
As Yi Ping got up, he could feel his chest trembling with pain!
It seemed that the blows that he had received were tremendous indeed. It was a lucky thing that he had attained the Ninth Positioning Rank or else the blows that he had just received would surely have damaged his golden body!
The Dark Goddess Xia Hsien gave him an eye candy as she smiled, “Sister, he is not so tough after all. I have thought that he is really good!”
The Heaven Goddess Zero smiled as she looked coldly at everyone in the grand hall, “That is because I have underestimated him earlier but it seems that he is really nothing special at all!”
The Alluring Goddess Theresa laughed, “Oh well! Since he is nothing special at all, why don’t you give him to me instead?”
She winked at Yi Ping, “You didn’t think that you alone can handle the three of us?”
Yi Ping smiled weakly as he quickly said, “Not at all. I wouldn’t dare!”
He thought to himself, “At least I have stopped them from fighting temporary. But the three of them together are really formidable. I can’t find a loophole in their moves at all…”
The Alluring Goddess Theresa turned to look maliciously at the Dark Goddess Xia Hsien and the Heaven Goddess Zero as she smiled, “Alas! It seems that we can’t play a little longer. It seems that the host is finally here!”
Indeed barely had she said that, the Great Lord Xuan Yuan had walked into the grand hall. He was garbed in red and scarlet finery. He appeared none the pleased as he stared coldly at the Alluring Goddess Theresa, the Dark Goddess Xia Hsien and the Heaven Goddess Zero!
The entire grand hall fell into deep disquiet as hundreds of Desolate Immortals quickly greeted the Great Lord Xuan Yuan!
The Great Lord Shenmu smiled uneasily as he said, “My lord, it is my fault that I can’t stop them from creating an unrest.”
The Great Lord Xuan Yuan touched the hilt of his sword as he said slowly and coldly, “This is my domain. If anyone thinks that they can create a din in my domain then I shall not be polite. If you want to beat the dog then you have to see who the master is…”
The malevolent air that was in the grand hall was suddenly eerie and even Yi Ping could feel a great sense of uneasiness. It was as though the Great Lord Xuan Yuan would explode in anger at any time. He was beginning to fear for the Alluring Goddess Theresa, the Dark Goddess Xia Hsien and the Heaven Goddess Zero!
The Great Lord Xuan Yuan continued to say coldly, “No matter whom you think you are…”
“So who is the dog and who is the master?” The Dark Goddess Xia Hsien asked all of a sudden. Her eyes and smiles were full of innocent and she was altogether earnest!
Yi Ping and everyone in the grand hall were shocked by her direct defiant!
Yi Ping secretly began to admire this Dark Goddess Xia Hsien even as he feared for her as he thought, “She really have guts. No wonder the Great Lord Shenmu admires her so much. Even I am impressed by her…”
All of a sudden the floor beneath the Great Lord Xuan Yuan began to crackle as the malevolent air of the Great Lord Xuan Yuan began to increase rapidly!
The Alluring Goddess Theresa smiled sweetly as she played with her fingers, “It seems that that the Great Lord Xuan Yuan is really angry, very angry. Soon we have two unfortunate souls here!”
The Dark Goddess Xia Hsien giggled softly, “We shall see indeed!”
The Heaven Goddess Zero laughed softly, “Indeed!”
Yi Ping was perplexed as he thought, “Don’t they know that they are in a dire straits now? With just the two of them, they are not the match of the Great Lord Xuan Yuan! And moreover, they can’t possibly fight so many Desolate Immortals at the same time!”
The Great Lord Xuan Yuan said coldly as the entire hall seemingly grown very dark, “Indeed!”
Ch241 End Chapter 242: The Great Lord Shenmu
Yi Ping thought to himself, “No, this Dark Goddess Xia Hsien looks like a smart person. She won’t be so foolish and reckless to provoke the Great Lord Xuan Yuan. But I have no desire to witness whatever plans they have in mind. It may be a result that I don’t want to witness…”
Rody nodded his head. “There is no time left. I will have to adapt. Nicole… I am just worried that His Majesty could see through my disguise.”
Nicole pondered deeply before she said. “He should not be able to. His Majesty has hardly met Seth and should not be able to see through your disguise. I have also already taught you the basic courtesy. There should not be a big flaw. I only worry…”
Nicole sighed. “I am afraid that His Majesty the Emperor actually dislikes my brother.”
“Why?” Rody frowned.
Looking strange, Nicole answered. “Because of Jojo!” She continued before Rody could speak. “Originally, I did not know about my brother and Jojo’s relationship but I think that secret could not be kept from His Majesty. Did you know? His Majesty is really attracted to Jojo. Jojo has been in the Imperial Capital for a very long time. Although she was the Empress’s sister, His Majesty did not bestow the ‘Princess’ title to her. This is probably because he wants to have Jojo ….”
Rody made a wry smile. “So you are saying that His Majesty may know about Seth and Jojo’s relationship and may hate me very much?”
Nicole shook her head and forced a smile. “That is also one of the problems I am worried about. However, His Majesty is unlikely to raise such matters openly. Today, the most important thing is to solve the problem of your dispute with the Great Moon Kingdom’s envoy… In other words, whatever the punishment is given to you, you will have to bear it.”
Rody gave a cold smile. “What else can they do? How can they push the responsibility to Bayan? He is His Majesty’s nephew!”
Nicole sighed and did not say anything. She only concentrated on fixing Rody’s uniform. Rody also not did not say anything because he knows that nothing that he says would help him. He can only take a step at a time.
Before leaving, Rody thought for a moment and asked a servant to bring him the lightsaber hanging on the wall in his room. Although he did not know how to use that saber, having it somehow makes him calm. Even though he could move right now, that earlier fight had used up all of his energy, especially that last attack which almost made him collapse. Although he feels better right now, he was still unable to fight. He just wants to carry that saber to build up his courage to defend himself if needed.
Nicole led Rody out to board the carriage. According to her intention, she wanted to accompany Rody. However, the deputy commander Gordon refused her request.
“His Majesty the Emperor said he only wants to meet Young Master Seth. Miss Nicole, please stay at home.” Gordon said lightly. Noticing the fearful look on Nicole’s face, Gordon’s heart went soft and then whispered to Nicole. “Miss Nicole, do not worry. His Majesty already seems to know what happened when he gave me the order. However, His Majesty seems to be in a good mood and did not seem angry. Nothing should happen to Young Master Seth.”
Nicole froze for a moment and looked at Gordon, surprised. She could not understand why Gordon was on her side.
Gordon showed a solemn look and nodded to Nicole. He softly said. “I was one of the Duke’s subordinates many years ago.”
Nicole calmed down and nodded her head in gratitude.
When Rody got onto the carriage, Gordon gave an order and the twenty odd knights got on their horses. Chapter 50: Glory and Disgrace

The Imperial Palace was built in the center of the Empire, more than 400 years ago when the Empire was founded. It was an enormous structure built using granite shipped from the north. From the Empire’s few centuries’ worth of history, Rody learned that the Empire had gone through many hardships and wars. Rody was unable to remember them all.
During the Empire’s 49th year, the Empire was at war with the Northern Roland Continent and entered a moment of crisis. The granite palace became the last military stronghold. Both sides had about 200,000 soldiers and they fought at the fort of the palace for a total of 17 days. Finally, the third Duke of the Tulip Family led 100,000 soldiers that helped to repel the enemy and defend the palace.
During the Empire’s 109th year, there was an internal strife. The emperor was assassinated by a rebellious minister. The rebellious minister then put a prince there and controlled him like a puppet. After that, the sixth Duke of Tulip Family ran away from the Imperial Capital. Fifteen days later, he came back to the Imperial Capital with 9,000 soldiers. They took six days to break through the city walls and later fought 20,000 rebels for two days and two nights. The duke personally killed the rebellious leader, Davis and continued to attack the Imperial City with thousands of soldiers. Due to that war, the river near the walls turned red with blood for a full two weeks, before returning to its original color.
During the Empire’s 209th year, after the internal strife the most outstanding emperor in the whole of Empire’s history, Abbas the Great ascended the throne. Abbas was the Empire’s greatest emperor in their 400 years of history. However, during his reign he was also the emperor that killed the most people. Abbas had the support of the Tulip Family and killed more than 1,000 of the ministers and kinsmen that opposed his rule. That included his younger brother and his uncle. About 100 years later, the Empire once again experienced a bloody baptism. On that night, the whole Empire was filled with shrilled screams and the stench of the blood. After a heavy downpour, the whole Empire was covered in red.
During the 30 years of Abbas the Great’s reign, he created the Empire’s formidable cavalry. The cavalry was well known in the mainland as the Lightning God Legion. Under Abbas’ great leadership and the Tulip Family’s outstanding commands, the cavalry conquered the entire continent. Only in the mainland at the Northwest Grasslands, was there a strong and unknown resistance from the nomads who refused to be ruled by the Empire. Abbas the Great then implemented firm strategies. “In all parts of the mainland where the sun shines, everyone must respect the imperial law and authority! The obedient ones will be rewarded while the rebellious ones will be mercilessly punished.” Finally, the marshal of the Empire massacred 60,000 foreign troops and captured their leader, Halifax. Abbas the Great then ordered for this foreign leader to be publicly trampled by horses until he died.
At last, the whole continent finally unified and became the Empire’s territory. As a result, the Empire in the south and Roland in the north, separated by the straits, were in quite a confrontational setup. Also in that era, the Great Sage Dandong was born. He became Abbas the Great’s most powerful assistant as he single handedly planned a series of reforms, giving the Empire a lot of vigor. Also in that palace, Abbas the Great renamed the Empire as the Radiant Empire1. The name of the Radiant Empire reverberated through the whole continent.
Twenty-three years ago, the Empire once again went through a historical moment. It was its first defeat and humiliation after a few hundred years. The foreigners from the Northwest Grasslands raised their banners and declared independence. They then formed the Great Moon Kingdom. On top of that, the commander of the army who was Tulip Family’s head died of illness. Eventually, the Empire’s Central Cavalry were defeated by the Great Moon Kingdom’s armored cavalry. As they were defeated, the Empire had to acknowledge the Great Moon Kingdom’s independence. Trial Husband After that, the Empire and the Great Moon Kingdom signed an agreement in the hall constructed by Abbas the Great, agreeing to the division of their lands.
Rody sat in the carriage and occasionally gazed out of the window, looking towards the palace in the distance. He recalled seeing the picture of the palace in history books. He did not know what his fate would be when he arrived there.
Rody stared at the palace which was getting closer. As night drew nearer, he had a peculiar feeling.
This is the heart of the Empire!
The palace was surrounded by about 60 miles of wall, completely constructed with huge rocks. Its height and thickness were about the same as the wall of the Imperial Capital but its strength was much stronger. Standing on the wall were the Imperial Guards wearing golden armors and holding spears. There was also a brightly colored banner with a thorny flower, flapping in the wind. This wall was originally something built in haste during the war. A few hundred years later, an ancient emperor renovated the wall. The original castle-like wall was given a magnificent coating to make it similar to the Imperial Palace. The original iron gate was replaced with a golden gate, the symbol of the Imperial Family’s dignity.
As the carriage passed through the gate, Rody could not help but mentally try to calculate as to how many years of a commoner’s expenses could be covered by the cost of the gate’s platinum gold coating.
Under the guidance of the Imperial Guards, the carriage stopped at the entrance of the inner city of the Imperial Palace. At this point, Rody had to get off the carriage. Nobody except His Majesty the Emperor was allowed to ride a carriage into the inner city.
Twelve fully armed guards led the way. Rody eventually reached the audience hall. The thick and heavy door made of wood and iron was already open. Following Gordon’s instructions, Rody slowly walked into the audience hall alone.
The 16 huge pillars in the audience hall looked dignified. The audience hall was surrounded and illuminated by large candles, made of cattle fat. The illumination was so bright that it seemed as if it was daytime. When Rody stepped onto the floor, it gave out a soft sound. Rody noticed that the floor of the audience hall was made out of gold. On both sides of the audience hall, rows of guards in armor stood. They only revealed their eyes and they had axes in their hands. They looked straight in front and did not glance at Rody.
“Hmph,… gold. The Imperial Palace is really like what the legend said… like a cage.” Rody could not help but think to himself.
Gordon pointed to the door at the end of the hall and whispered, “His Majesty is in there waiting for you.” He hesitated for a moment before saying again, “Young Master Seth, please give me your sword.”
Rody knew he could not refuse. He gave the lightsaber to Gordon. Gordon nodded his head and passed on the sword to one of the guards at the door before walking with Rody towards the back.
The two guards, at the side of the entrance, carefully interrogated Gordon. Only when Gordon produced the command plate did they allow Rody to enter.
The door slowly opened and Rody immediately felt a chill.
It was a side hall, which was actually the real center of the Empire. It was noted in the Empire’s history, that all the important policies and strategies were agreed and fixed here by the emperor and his ministers.
The inside of the hall was mostly empty. Enchanting Martial Doctor He felt a strange sense of relief from the ceiling that gave off a gentle and chilling light. Rody knew that this was an illuminating spell. There were no decorations or furnishings in the middle of the room. There was only a huge and long table in the wide, open hall. At the end of the table, there was a long and thin silhouette.
He wore a long white robe and had long black hair tied up behind his head. His face looked abnormally fair as if it was devoid of color. He carefully looked at Rody with eyes which looked like two bright gems. Although the person was just quietly standing there, Rody could feel a tremendous kind of invisible pressure.
Rody immediately bowed his head and knelt down. He spoke loudly, “I am Tulip Family’s Seth Rudolph. I present myself to His Majesty the Emperor!”
The white robed person in the distance seemed motionless. He gently nodded but he did seem to have intention of allowing Rody to stand up.
The current Radiant Empire Emperor quietly looked at Rody. His gaze was as if he could see through Rody. Rody did not know how long he had knelt. He could feel the cold sweat flowing down his back. After a while, he heard a clear and resounding voice.
“Seth! I have a difficult problem. I hope you can solve it for me!”
1 The original name, guāngmíng dìguó meant Light Empire or Bright Empire but it sounds awkward as the name of a kingdom so I picked Radiant instead. Chapter 51: Entrusted Important Task

Rody slowly raised his head and felt the other party’s sharp gaze. He did not know why but that gaze made his hair stand.
“Seth, come here!”
Rody swallowed his saliva and slowly stood up. He then walked a few steps forward.
The person in front of him was the Empire’s emperor, Abbas XI! In his heart, Rody felt unimpressed.
Why does he not look very spirited?
Based on Rody’s perception, the emperor as a descendant of Abbas the Great should be wearing golden armor. The emperor should be stalwart and give off a majestic impression. However, the middle-aged man in front of him looked pale and his thin body was hidden under the white robe. He gave people a deep, eerie impression.
Hmph! Looks like being an emperor is not necessarily a joyous affair. Look at his appearance, his forehead is full of wrinkles. He must be frowning constantly.
Rody stood in front of the emperor, about ten steps away. He did not dare to go any nearer.
Abbas XI finally looked away and lightly sighed.
“Seth, how long has it been since I last saw you? Hmm… It should be a good few years? It was when your father passed away. At that time you were still a child,” Abbas XI spoke in a somewhat sad tone.
Rody kept his mouth shut and lowered his head.
“In just a few years, you have become robust. Much better than your father during those years,” Abbas XI spoke as he walked slowly towards Rody. He extended his hand to pat Rody’s shoulder and said, “I know your sense of unease. Today’s incident has already been reported to me.”
Rody thought for a moment and was finding the right words to say when the emperor stopped him with a gesture.
“I know what you want to say. Bayan already told me about it. However, I know that his stories were filled with exaggerations. Hmph, I am not old and confused yet but this incident actually happened. You actually injured the guy so, you must also understand the consequences.”
Rody nodded. Nicole reminded him earlier not to say too much. The more he said the more mistakes he could make.
Abbas XI looked at Rody’s eyes with some interest. He gave a cold smile and slowly asked, “Why do you not speak? I heard that your temperament is not like this. You are well known as an extremely audacious person.
Rody took a deep breath and slowly raised his head. He looked directly at the emperor’s eyes and solemnly said, “Your Majesty, I do not know what to say. For Your Majesty to summon me, there must already be a decision.”
Abbas XI looked surprise momentarily before he slightly frowned and pondered. He asked slowly, “Do you know about the war between the Empire and the Great Moon Kingdom?”
Rody thought to himself. Although the news of the fight had been concealed, it could not have been concealed from those in the upper strata. Otherwise, Nicole would not have found out about it. For His Majesty to ask Rody this question, it would mean that he was aware of Rody’s knowledge about the situation. That would mean that it was useless for him to pretend. As a result, it would be better for him to gracefully acknowledge by nodding his head.
“Very good,” Abbas XI nodded his head. “You are pretty smart to know that you cannot lie to me,” his tone was awe-inspiring. Soon, he changed his tone and asked again, “As the heir of the Tulip Family, what do you think of the Imperial Army in this case?”
Rody thought for a moment and loudly proclaimed, “The Tulip Family is willing to go to war and risk their lives to defend the dignity of the Empire!”
Those words were also taught to him by Nicole. Whatever it was, those words would definitely not offend His Majesty.
Sure enough, a trace of satisfactory smile appeared on Abbas XI’s pale face. “Unfortunately, you are still young and have not inherited the title. Otherwise, I really hope you can be of service to me. I also hope that the unbeatable history of the Tulip family would continue through you! Great Moon Kingdom, hmph! Merely a group of uncivilized foreign barbarians!” His Majesty exposed his resentment from his last few words.
Rody sneered in his heart.
Barbarians? A group of barbarians fought to the extent that your personally appointed commander of the Northwest Legion was so badly defeated?
Of course, Rody did not say those words out loud. He swallowed his saliva and silently said, “Your Majesty is brilliant!” Rody kept his criticisms to himself.
Abbas XI also sighed as if he was aware of his own outburst. He lowered his voice and spoke, “The Empire has just been defeated and the morale is low. I summoned you here so that you can help me with one thing.”
Rody immediately remembered Nicole’s words and hurriedly proclaim his boundless loyalty. He knelt with one knee and earnestly looked at His Majesty in a 45o angle while cursing in his heart.
This preposterous Empire’s family heir is really stifling!
Abbas XI stared at Rody seeming satisfied and spoke, “I have decided to bring forward your succession ceremony. Three days from now, I will personally host your succession ceremony. If you can pass the Imperial Examination, I will officially announce your inheritance of the Tulip Family’s title and you will become the new Duke Rudolph. After that, I will have a more important mission for you!”
Rody did not say anything but he gave the Emperor a dignified look. He knew that at this moment, he must definitely not show a surprised face.
As expected, Abbas XI nodded when he saw Rody maintaining his calm and loudly proclaimed, “If you successfully inherit the title, I will appoint you as the Northwest Inspection Special Envoy and I will order you to immediately go to the Northwest Region to aid General Ruben of the Northwest Legion to take charge of military affairs.”
“Ah?” Even though Rody tried to maintain his calm, when he heard those words, he was unable to conceal it.
Go to the front lines? Northwest Inspection Special Envoy? That is the title of the Imperial Envoy.
Although Rody had never been a government official, he had been to the Imperial Academy and knew the meaning of being a special envoy.
It meant that at exceptional moments, he would have full control of military affairs in the Northwest Region. During critical moments, he could even overwrite the orders of the original First Commander of the Northwest Legion.
Abbas XI sighed.
“I know that you are still too young and you should not bear this burden. However, this is now a difficult time for the Empire. The Tulip Family is the ‘God of War’ and flagship of the Empire. Now is the time where the Empire needs the Tulip Family the most.” The emperor’s dignified gaze soften and his voice also lowered, “Even though I want you to go to the Northwest, I do not really expect you to change the situation immediately. After all, you are still young and do not have much experience. What I need are your banners! When the soldiers are defeated, I want your family banner to come up and stabilize the morale of the army. Seth, I do not need you to do too many things! I just need you to go to the front lines! As long as your family banner is up, the morale of the soldiers will be secured. Do you understand my intentions?”
“I understand!” Rody breathed a sigh of relief.
He was not afraid of fighting on the front lines. As a warrior, he had already plan to join the military and become a solider. Nonetheless, at his tender age, he was inevitably apprehensive to be suddenly entrusted with an important task. However, the emperor was clear in his commands and did not expect him to actually command the army. He just wanted Rody to go out and show himself to the soldiers. The fact was, utilizing the legend of the undefeated Tulip Family was a good tactic to sustain the morale of the army.
When Abbas XI saw Rody’s nervousness, he smiled and said, “I believe that the Tulip Family would not disappoint me. That is why I hope that you can live up to my expectations.”
Rody took a deep breath, slowly knelt down and said, “Yes.”
Since all was said and done, the emperor nodded indicating that Rody could now leave. Rody slowly stood up and showed his respect before leaving.
When he reached the entrance, the emperor suddenly spoke again.
“Seth, I heard that you got close with Jojo recently… I hope that you will not be distracted by anything else at this time.”
Rody turned stiff as he secretly scoffed. He slowly turned and said. “I understand.”
Hmph! To fight with the emperor for a woman. I do not have such interests!
When he left the audience hall, Rody first looked for Gordon to take the light saber back. After that, he got on the carriage without a word.
When Rody got home, Nicole was surprised that he returned so early. By the time Rody related about his meeting with the Emperor, Nicole’s face was full of solemn expression.
“His Majesty did not blame you?”
Rody sighed. “I also felt strange. His Majesty lightly spoke about it before changing the subject.”
All the disciples chanted in high spirits. They would always remember the events of today in their hearts. In the thousands of years of history of Glory Sect, this was the first time something as such had happened. Looking at the dead bodies of their fellow brothers in the vicinity, all of them were driven with an unspeakable rage.
This was a trial for them, a mental trial to overcome.
Looking at the disciples surrounding him, Zhang Ergou was filled with motivation as well. As long as they were united, there was definitely no obstacle they couldn’t overcome.
Outside the Main Hall…
When Zhang Ergou and the others arrived, they saw the Grandmaster being protected by a Senior Elder on his side, and hurried their footsteps.
The Jiuxiao Sect disciples were yet to be eliminated. Those disciples they had killed off were those of weaker cultivation bases. The stronger ones had retreated to the entrance of Glory Sect. There, they were awaiting Grandmaster Han to take down the strongest powerhouse of Glory Sect before gathering for a final push, destroying Glory Sect once and for all.
These were evil men whose hearts had already been twisted long before. They lived to kill and murder. Towards Grandmaster Han’s change of heart, they were excited beyond words.
In their world right now, only a single word existed.
Kill. Kill. KILL!
Anyone who dissented? Kill.
Anyone who resisted? Kill.
Just killing everyone in their way.
Killing was the way to power.
The skies were crackling and rumbling with flashes of lightning right now. With the void ripping apart continuously, everything looked ominous, as if doomsday were approaching.
The energy grids of Heaven and Earth were changing right now as well, seeming about to crumble.
In the sky right now, the Senior Elders of Glory Sect and Jiuxiao Sect were engaged in a fierce battle. This massive amount of energy and power was causing an endless number of shockwaves. It was so devastating that the Heavens could barely withstand their powers.
A fight between two greater celestial full cultivation beings might not amount to much, but a fight between dozens of greater celestial full cultivation beings while making use of the energy grid lines was enough to almost destroy the entire world.
“So…strong! Is this the power of beings who could comprehend and utilize the energy grid lines?” Mie Qiongqi squinted his eyes and looked over. To a genius like him, the existence of energy grid lines was no secret at all. Even though he was astounded by the ferocity of the battles before him, it was not to a state where he was entirely stumped. After all, he knew in his heart that he would reach this state one day as well.
However, the sight before them was totally foreign to some disciples. Ever since they entered the sect, they hadn’t even seen a single fight between two greater celestial beings. To them, this was no longer a battle between humans, but a battle between Gods.
Within the voids, the energy grid line chains turned and spun non-stop. Like a coiling dragon, they disappeared into the voids in an instant and reappeared brightly in the next instance.
Suddenly, the skies reverberated. Within the void, a bright flash of light appeared, slashing the void thinly apart. The energy current within it began to swirl rapidly like a tornado, threatening to suck everything within.
Like a meteor, a figure shot down rapidly from the skies.
“That’s…Senior Elder Wuya!” Focusing their gazes, Zhang Ergou and the others were taken aback completely.
Senior Elder Wuya’s body crashed right before their very eyes. His body was stained with blood, and his breathing was feeble. That usual healthy face of his was now ghastly pale.
“Elder…!” Zhang Ergou and the others dashed forward to help Wuya up.
“Grandmaster, Han Yongyi has descended down the dark path. He’s way too strong now!” Senior Elder Wuya spat out a few mouthfuls of fresh blood. His body had a few more wounds on him. He must have sustained these injuries during the fight up in the skies.
Yan Hongyu was frowning as his face was extremely stern right now. Even his Junior Brother Wuya has been defeated. Just how strong was this Han Yongyi?
Junior Brother Wuya’s strength wasn’t too far off from his. To think that even he had fallen to Han Yongyi’s hands. Now that he was bearing a large injury, he most likely wouldn’t be Han Yongyi’s match either.
Han Yongyi floated menacingly in the air right now. He wasn’t too bothered with the surrounding battles. His gaze was fixated right below.
That bloodthirsty and demonic gaze sent shivers down the spine of every single Glory Sect disciple.
“Protect the Grandmaster and Elder!” Zong Hentian roared as he stood in front of Grandmaster Yan and Senior Elder Wuya without a single fear.
“HAHA!” Han Yongyi laughed manically. His eyes shone with murderous intent as he was covered in a black aura, howling like a dragon of darkness.
“You can go and die!” Han Yongyi growled in wrath as he sent a mighty palm strike down from the skies.
The palm strike was filled with devastating force, so frightening that it left everyone feeling desolate.
“HAHAHAHA!” Han Yongyi continued laughing in a frenzy.
“Grandmaster…!” All of the Senior Elders in the skies expressed a look of concern. But with a powerful enemy on each of their toes, none of them could leave their current positions!
The outcome looked to be determined. There was no way out of this.
Suddenly, Mie Qiongqi roared in fury. His muscles expanded rapidly, and his aura burst out into the skies. Darting forward, he received the blow by himself.
‘Unkillable Indestructible…!’ Mie Qiongqi screamed in pain, his blood spraying out everywhere. The cataclysmic power of this blow was so immense that Mie Qiongqi’s True Energy within his body was in a state of chaos. The boost to his body from Unkillable Indestructible was the only reason he was even able to barely hang on alive right now.
“So what if you’re a greater celestial…? I, Mie Qiongqi, shall slay the Heavens today…!” Incensed, his scream was filled with boundless hatred and hunger for battle.
“We’ll assist you…!” Suddenly, all the geniuses within Glory Sect leaped up without a single bit of fear.
Omg please let nothing happen to any of them. Not anyone from Saint Devil Sect, not even Grandmaster Yan or Wuya. Please gosh.
By the way, in the author’s raw notes, he mentioned that he cried thinking to his own ending of this story that will come in X-months time. In his words, this book is filled with people who will fight and grow with him. But gosh doesnt that just mean we’ll have more people we care about being killed off? D:

‘Heaven Slaying Sword!’
‘Descent of the War Diety!’
‘Palm of Buddha’s Land!’
‘Power of the Heavens and Earth!’
One by one, Meng Hao, Jian Wudi, Lu Yan, Zong Hentian and Mie Qiongqi unleashed their strongest blows to deflect that descending palm strike from the sky.
“How can I allow my junior brothers to face this alone? Even if I were to lose it all today, I, Zhang Ergou, have to assist them!” Zhang Ergou’s blood was pumping with adrenaline. Flicking his robes, all sorts of f*cked up pills flew up towards the sky as well.
However, the moment these pills came into contact with Han Yongyi’s powerful aura, they dissipated into nothingness, leaving zero impact.
Towards this, Zhang Ergou could only sigh helplessly.
“Seems like I’m just too trash after all.” Zhang Ergou was a little forlorn. To think that these pills he had cultivated with his heart and soul would just disappear into nothing before even coming into contact with the enemy. He was pretty disappointed indeed.
However, looking at the look of respect from the other junior brothers around him, Zhang Ergou was secretly glad as well. Looking at the distance, he couldn’t help but worry. His Junior Brother Mie was about to head into a treacherous situation after all.
“What are you guys here for? I can do it alone!” Mie Qiongqi had a strong ego. Looking at these people who had leaped forth to lend a hand, he was somewhat displeased.
“Senior Brother Mie, now that the sect’s in danger, we can’t allow you to steal all the glory to yourself!” Meng Hao forced out a smile on his face.
“What are we still chattering on about! The enemy ahead is already hard enough to deal with!” Jian Wudi seemed to be gliding through the sky as his eyes were focused forward.
‘All of you are my stepping stones! I won’t allow you to die right here!” Lu Yan said proudly.
“Good guts, junior brothers, good guts.” Taking a glance, Mie Qiongqi laughed coldly as well.
“Hmph. A small bunch of clowns and they dare to vie for light against a brightly shining moon like me?” In the skies, Han Yongyi’s face was filled with disdain, ‘I’ll show you that it’s courting death for a bunch of ants to dare to fight against the Heavens!”
“Hmph, even though I may be at a lesser celestial full cultivation base right now, I, Mie Qiongqi, shall see just how strong a greater celestial is then!”
With a maddened roar, Unkillable Indestructible began to churn furiously as a devastating aura began to be emitted. An illusion of an ancient figure appeared behind Mie Qiongqi momentarily as well. With a maddened growl, it sent out boundless amount of energy as well.
“Duel the Heavens and Destroy the Earth!”
Jian Wudi’s sword style was bent on destroying the Heavens and Earth, as his immense Sword Will took on the form of an elderly man, who dashed up towards the skies.
Lu Yan shouted out. His body gleamed brightly as a figure of a Buddha sitting cross-legged with his palms closed together flew towards the strike, while chanting mysterious scriptures.
The sight of this seemingly unstoppable palm strike being stopped was enough to have the Glory Sect disciples watching in amazement.
Despite his serious injuries, Yan Hongyu let out a smile inside his heart. ‘Power be to Glory Sect indeed.’ Now that Glory Sect possessed so many geniuses within their midst, there was no way it should go down just like this.
“Hmph, trash…!” Han Yongyi snorted coldly in the skies. Suddenly, thunder started rumbling as the power level of the palm strike increased as well.
A sudden explosion appeared as Lu Yan’s Buddha figure started breaking apart, and he spat out a mouthful of fresh blood. As for Jian Wudi’s Sword Will, it started twisting and contorting until it turned into ashes as well.
“So…strong…!” Everyone was aghast as they exclaimed. The power level of someone in the realm of a greater celestial full cultivation was seriously way too strong, wasn’t it?!?
There was simply no room for resistance!
In the face of true power, even these geniuses were rendered helpless.
“I’ll fight you till the bitter end! Ancient Destruction!” Only one was left defending against the palm strike. Blood was gushing out from all parts of Mie Qiongqi’s body as he screamed. With that, his aura grew even stronger. It was as if that ancient illusory figure behind him was bent on surpassing everything in this world in acknowledgment of its eternity.
“Interesting fella indeed. What a pity that the skills are wasted on someone like you.” With another snort of contempt, Han Yongyi set loose yet another burst of energy.
“Urgh…!!!” With the increase of power once more, Mie Qiongqi could not stop spitting out blood. The ancient figure started to disintegrate as well. In the face of absolute power, even heaven-defying skills were no match for it.
“Junior Brother…!” Zhang Ergou shouted out worriedly as he rushed forth to help up his fallen junior brother.
Usually cold and nonchalant to everything else, Mie Qiongqi’s eyes were darting nonstop right now, as though he could break apart at any moment. “Senior Brother, I’ve tried…my best…I didn’t lose…Saint Devil Sect’s…face…”
‘Junior brother, don’t speak anymore! Please! You’ve been strong for all of us! Even if Master were here right now, he wouldn’t blame you at all! Not in the least bit!” Looking at Mie Qiongqi’s current state, tears flowed down uncontrollably from Zhang Ergou’s face. Even though this junior brother might have been pretty cold usually, he was still respectful when he needed to be.
“No…Master tasked me to…protect Saint Devil Sect…Even if…I…die…I mustn’t let…Master down!!!’ At the end of his sentence, those feeble eyes of Mie Qiongqi reignited with passion once more. The dissipated energy from his body erupted out as well.
“Junior Brother!” Looking at Mie Qiongqi, Zhang Ergou exclaimed out in shock.
Floating up into the skies again, Mie Qiongqi reared his head back and screamed, “I shall protect Saint Devil Sect down to the last drop of my blood! No one shall dare to invade us! Ever!”
“Junior Brother, enough! It’s enough! Please don’t go anymore! You’ll die!” Zhang Ergou yelled after Mie Qiongqi.
“NO! DOWN TILL MY LAST DROP OF BLOOD! I MUST ENSURE SAINT DEVIL SECT’S SAFETY!” Mie Qiongqi’s determination was burning at its peak right now.
“Destruction of Worlds!” Mie Qiongqi bellowed. The True Energy within his body spiked up massively. Spraying in all directions, his blood painted the entire ground.
“Hmph. A creature who doesn’t fear death indeed.” Han Yongyi chuckled coldly. He sent out another palm strike. Just from the feel of it, this palm strike was way more intense than the previous one.
“Even if my spirit and soul shall shatter, I’ll die for Saint Devil Sect’s safety!” At this point, Mie Qiongqi emanated an aura he had never felt before. This was energy that was borrowed from the void.
