In the same moment that Meng Hao was looking around contentedly at his Immortal’s cave in the Nine Seas God World, far far away, something happened in the starry sky. That place… was not located in the Mountain and Sea Realm. Furthermore, it was a location outside of the 33 Heavens. It was located… in a different starry sky.
Visible was a projection of an ancient land mass. It was so enormous that it was impossible to describe, and it hung there in the void, emanating constant and endless pressure.
Within this projected world was… a huge coffin, as well as nine beautiful, colorful butterflies.
Surrounding the coffin was an endless sea of people, all prostrating themselves in worship.
In front of the crowds of people were three young women who were indescribably beautiful. Their eyes were filled with both hope and reminiscence as they looked at the coffin, and then down at the land beneath their feet.
Doomsday Wonderland In front of the three young women was an old man wearing a black robe. At his back was the illusory image of an ancient tree. Currently, his two hands were held aloft, and he was shouting loudly up into the air. It sounded like some sort of curse, although it was impossible to hear exactly what he was saying.
It didn’t take long, however, for a mass of black mist to appear in front of him. It roiled and seethed, emanating a strong aura of death.
“I found it… almost. If it is used just one more time, I’ll be able to locate it!” After a long moment, the old man coughed up a mouthful of blood, and his body seemed to wither. The tree behind him also withered, as if he had just spent a huge amount of life force to speak those words.
It wasn’t just him who paid the price to speak the words. Everyone in the sea of people around him also spit up mouthfuls of blood. The nine butterflies trembled, and of the four wings they each possessed, two fell off.
In another location within the same void in which that world projection existed, was yet another boundlessly majestic projection of a world.
Within that world existed a huge statue of a man!
In that world, there were nine suns!!
At the foot of the statue was a young man wearing a white robe. If you looked closely, you would see… that he looked exactly like the statue!!
He shook his head and smiled.
“Mother was right. Those who are reborn are always more eager than those who have already returned.” 1
Note from Er Gen: Lots of you readers guess the answer. Pretty awesome!
Note from Deathblade: Same with readers of the translation! I saw quite a few correct guesses. Unless you were secretly posting spoilers as “guesses,” in which case you have sown vile Karma and will be punished!!!!!
1. I saw speculation by Chinese fans about what this last line means, but nothing very definite. I’ll continue to do some research and if I find anything more I’ll post on twitter or in a chapter release. Chapter 1044: Initial Absorption of Paragon Blood!
The people of the Mountain and Sea Realm had no way of seeing what was happening outside of their Realm.
Back in the Nine Seas God World, in the valley between the two mountain ranges, the pool of water continued to build up above the shield. At the same time, a figure stepped out noiselessly from within the residence.
Meng Hao had sensed this person earlier, and as such, his expression did not change when the young boy walked out. He looked to be about seven or eight years old, wore a red robe, and had a completely expressionless face. As soon as he stepped out, he clasped hands and bowed to Meng Hao.
“What an incredible puppet,” Meng Hao murmured, walking up to the boy and looking him over. The boy looked almost as if he had been carved out of a lustrous piece of rare jade.
Meng Hao reached his hand out and pressed it down onto the puppet. Immediately, an additional puppet mnemonic appeared in his mind.
“This Immortal’s cave must be completely unique within the Nine Seas God World,” the thought. “Only a place like this could be suitable for such a puppet. Whenever I have to deal with cultivation resources, I can just sent him out to handle things.
“Furthermore, it looks like he has battle prowess equivalent to a stage 7 Immortal.”
Meng Hao was very pleased. This Immortal’s cave far exceeded any other Immortal’s cave he had ever lived in. Regardless of whether or not the pool of water was being fed by the waterfall, it was as blue and crystalline as ever. Furthermore, the pond itself was actually made, not from freshwater, but saltwater.
“How considerate of them,” he said. Then he waved his hand, instantly causing the 33 Demonic cultivators to fly out of his bag of holding and splash into the pool.
Before they could even react, he performed an incantation gesture and then waved his finger. Popping sounds rang out as all of the 33 Demonic cultivators were sealed. All of them reverted to their original forms, whereupon they spun and began to howl at Meng Hao in rage.
“Shut up!” he growled. His voice echoed out like thunder, instantly causing all of the Demonic cultivators to tremble. Moments later, everything was quiet. The Demonic cultivators now looked like sea beasts, but they were still glaring angrily at Meng Hao.
That was especially true of the gigantic shell, which had now cracked open to reveal a pair of venomous eyes staring out at him.
There was also a huge sea turtle who looked especially fierce.
In addition to those two, there was a big shrimp, a crab, a seahorse, and others. Meng Hao looked them over, and then a grotesque idea suddenly popped up in his head.
“This pool of water almost looks like a giant pot. If I heated the water up….” He swallowed, then quickly shoved the wicked idea away. However, it was in that moment that the Demonic cultivators, who had just quieted down moments ago, suddenly lost control and began to roar again. A few of them even tried to charge at Meng Hao in attack.
With a cold harrumph, Meng Hao waved his hand, causing all of them to tremble, as if great pressure were weighing down on them. It was impossible for them to escape from within the pool of water, so once again, the sound of vehement curses rose up into the air.
Ignoring them, Meng Hao waved his right finger, causing a strand of the Essence of Divine Flame to fly out from his Immortal meridians. It landed in the water, and in the blink of an eye, the water began to bubble.
Meng Hao cleared his throat and then somewhat embarrassedly said, “If you don’t keep your voices down, there are no guarantees that I won’t boil you up and have a taste!”
His words, combined with the fact that the water in the pool was rapidly getting hotter, caused the Demonic cultivators to tremble. They looked at Meng Hao, not with hatred, but rather… terror and shock.
They had never imagined that Meng Hao would actually boil them into a stew!
Seeing that the Demonic cultivators had quieted down, Meng Hao waved a hand, retracting the strand of the Essence of Divine Flame. The water temperature in the pool instantly began to lower.
“That’s better. Now!” he said earnestly. “Remember to be good and do as you’re told. You people owe me money and can’t pay it back. That was why you handed yourselves over to me. Now, I’m going to provide you with a master to help you learn how to achieve your goal, which is… to sell yourselves!” With that, he slapped his bag of holding, causing the parrot to shoot out in a beam of black light.
The tinkling sound of a bell could be heard, along with a torrent of squawks.
“Lord Fifth is out! Lord Fifth swears to never go back into that bag of holding! Lord Fifth is free! Lord Fifth is going to… Eee?!” Even in midst of its tirade, Lord Fifth suddenly looked down at all the Demonic cultivators in the pool of water.
The bell-form meat jelly was also in the midst of howling in rage, when suddenly it realized the parrot had grown silent. It, too, looked down at the Demonic cultivators.
After staring for a moment, the meat jelly, trying to be helpful, said, “Maybe they’re taking a bath together?”
The parrot flew around in a circle, looking closely at the situation and then roared: “Moron! Idiot! Can’t you see he’s making some seafood stew? They’re not taking a bath! Dammit! How come none of this seafood has fur!?!?”
Meng Hao cleared his throat and then addressed the meat jelly: “These are all bullies. You can count if you want, there are three. Three bullies. I caught them and brought them here for you to practice your divine ability of converting people!”
The meat jelly quivered with excitement as it counted. When it was done, it looked over at Meng Hao as if he were the best person in the whole world. In the meat jelly’s opinion, it had never met a master who treated it is well as Meng Hao did.
Meng Hao smiled slightly, as if the two of them were best friends. Then he glanced over at the parrot and glared threateningly.
“I’ll pay handsomely for every one of these seafood dishes that you can get to behave. For each one, I’ll find one extremely furry creature for you.
“If you can train them all, then later, I’ll split subsequent profits with you thirty/seventy!”
When the parrot heard the words ‘extremely furry’ it instantly got very excited. It suddenly began to visualize all sorts of extremely furry creatures, and that only increased its enthusiasm. It immediately agreed to Meng Hao’s proposal.
Meng Hao promptly ignored the parrot and meat jelly as they began to torment the Demonic cultivators. He was sure that, considering how strong they were, getting the Demonic cultivator seafood dishes in line wasn’t an impossibility for them.
“Then there’s that wench Su Yan,” he thought. “I’ll wait a few more days and then hand her over to the parrot and meat jelly for education. I just can’t believe that she’ll continue to hold out after that.” Having made up his mind, he entered the residence.
The residence itself wasn’t very large. However, there was a stone door on the second floor. Behind the stone door were three chambers, each of which were relatively large.
After examining them, Meng Hao muttered to himself for a moment. Then, eyes glittering, he slapped his bag of holding, causing 30 black beetles to fly out, ten for each chamber.
Glancing thoughtfully at the Ghost Eyes on their backs, he thought, “I heard Su Yan call these things Ghost Eye Beetles….
“They like eating spirit-immortal stones. Well then, I might as well give them some more to eat… and see what kind of Ghost Eye appears in the end!” He had come up with this idea some time ago, so, clenching his teeth, he didn’t hesitate any further. He hated losing spirit-immortal stones, but he also knew that on the path of cultivation, you had to lose some to win some.
He waved his hand, causing thirty spirit-immortal stones to fly out into the three chambers. Instantly, the Ghost Eye Beetles went mad, clawing their way forward to grab the stones.
He threw out one stone per beetle in order to prevent them from fighting too much. After all, he only had 500 Ghost Eye Beetles, and wanted to avoid a situation in which they killed each other.
It didn’t take long for the Ghost Eye Beetles to consume the spirit-immortal stones, after which they sat there, motionless. However, their auras grew wildly stronger and their bodies grew tougher, as if they were in the process of absorbing energy from the stones they had swallowed.
After a moment of consideration, he decided that since the Ghost Eye Beetles were taking some time to absorb energy, he would make use of the puppet boy. Summoning him over, he handed some spirit-immortal stones over and then left some divine will instructions that the puppet continue to feed the stones to the beetles as necessary. Then he left the stone chambers and sat down cross-legged on the second floor of the residence.
He took a deep breath, and determination gleamed in his eyes as he extended his right hand. Immediately a bag of holding appeared, which he scanned with divine sense. He saw quite a collection of spirit stones and Immortal jade, as well as an incense burner.
The incense burner had an ancient feel to it, as though its aura was filled with years of time.
“This thing must be the Immortal artifact that Patriarch Granny Nine mentioned,” he thought. Ignoring it for the moment, he excitedly searched through the bag of holding to find the most precious item it contained.
A jade vial!
The vial was only the size of a pinky finger, and it contained… a drop of red fluid. It was none other than… Paragon’s blood!!
He carefully retrieved the vial from the bag of holding, then placed it onto his palm. Panting, he thought back to the Three Great Daoist Societies’ trial by fire, and how he had taken first place. For some reason it seemed like a very, very long time ago.
“I finally got my prize! But I wonder… which Paragon did this blood come from? Was it the white-robed Sea Dream, or was it Immortal Ancient? Or could it be from… Paragon Nine Seals?” He took a deep breath, and without any further hesitation, opened the jade vial. Instead of pouring the Paragon’s blood out, he slowly sent his divine sense into the vial.
Almost as soon as his divine sense made contact with the Paragon’s blood, a bloody mist rose up. In the blink of an eye, it swept back through his divine sense toward him. He was shocked, but he didn’t waver. Gritting his teeth, he sat in place without moving.
That strand of blood mist bored into his eyes, ears, nose, and mouth. In the same moment, he closed the jade vial, ensuring that the rest of the Paragon’s blood remained inside. His action just now had used up only about thirty percent.
However, even that thirty percent of the drop of Paragon’s blood transformed into a massive power that surged madly through his body.
Blue veins popped out on his face, and his whole body shook. The blood mist transformed into millions of strands which bored into his Immortal meridians. Gradually, the vague power of a Dao Fruit began to form.
Moments later, it collapsed, battering around inside of Meng Hao’s body.
Shaken, he quickly produced a Nirvana Fruit and pushed it into his forehead. In that moment, the tens of millions of strands inside of him all seemed to have found their exit.
His body shook, and his aura exploded upward. All of his Immortal qi was unleashed. His energy surged as the Nirvana Fruit apparently began to fuse into his blood vessels and qi passageways.
If he absorbed it completely, that would indicate that he had fused successfully with the Nirvana Fruit. That would also mean… that he would rise up in his position in the Immortal Realm, and would be be incredibly close to being able to remain in the Immortal Emperor Realm… eternally! Chapter 1045: ROCKED!
Time passed one breath at a time. He had long since passed the usual time limit for the Nirvana Fruit. However, after enough time had passed for an incense stick to burn, he still sat there, Nirvana Fruit fully absorbed. He opened his eyes, grabbed the jade vial, and was about to open it, but then hesitated.
The hundreds of thousands of strands inside of him were growing dimmer, and would rapidly vanish. Unfortunately, the Nirvana Fruit still wasn’t completely fused with him, not even by half. Abyss System In terms of percentages, then as of this moment, the Nirvana Fruit seemed to be about one percent fused.
“Even if I completely absorbed this entire sample of Paragon’s blood,” he thought, “then at most, I could achieve a four percent absorption….
“It’s not that the Paragon’s blood isn’t strong, nor that it’s fake. Rather…. this drop of blood is simply too diluted. Who knows how many dilutions it’s gone through.” He sighed inwardly. He knew that even if the Three Great Daoist Societies did have complete specimens of Paragon’s blood, they would still be incredibly scarce.
There was no way they would give him a complete drop. It was true that he was in the Echelon. However, taking a broad view, it was impossible to say whether or not another Echelon member might come along in the future. Although the Three Great Daoist Societies valued him, they couldn’t possibly give him undiluted Paragon’s blood.
Even a highly diluted drop could still be considered a precious treasure! From the very beginning, all they had agreed to give him was some Paragon’s blood. They had never said that it would be complete.
“If I could get a complete, full drop, then I’m certain that after absorbing it, I would then be able to completely fuse with the Nirvana Fruit, and I would truly be an Immortal Emperor!” Desire gleamed in Meng Hao’s eyes as he thought about the possibility of being able to eternally retain a cultivation base that exceeded the Immortal Realm Paragon.
Meng Hao took a deep breath, and his eyes shone brightly.
“Not complete…. Well then, I’ll just have to create my own complete drop of Paragon’s blood!” Gritting his teeth, he slowly pulled the copper mirror out of his bag of holding. He was of course concerned about how much it might cost him. In fact, he wasn’t even sure if the copper mirror was powerful enough to duplicate the Paragon’s blood.
However, determination filled his face as he looked at the copper mirror for a moment, then placed the vial of Paragon’s blood on its surface. Immediately, the vial began to sink down into the mirror.
Then, the mirror suddenly went berserk in a way it never had before. It shook wildly, flying out of Meng Hao’s hands and up into the air. Brilliant beams of light shot out in all directions, along with a shocking aura.
In the blink of an eye, the entire residence was inundated by a terrifying aura, which began to spread further out. If nothing was done about the spreading of this aura, it would go on to fill the entire Nine Seas God World, and the entire Ninth Sea. From there it would spread out to fill all of the Ninth Mountain and Sea, and eventually… the entirety of the Mountain and Sea Realm!
Outside the residence, the parrot was flying proudly through the air, looking extremely excited at the prospect of how happy its life would be after it exchanged all of the seafood for furry beasts.
Having reached this point in its train of thought, it immediately turned to all of the Demonic cultivators and roared: “Now listen well to Lord Fifth! All of you-“
However, before it could even finish speaking, a tremor suddenly ran through its body, as if some incredible power had suddenly sucked it dry. It withered rapidly, causing it to gape in shock. It suddenly turned to look toward Meng Hao and the residence, clearly astonished. Then it let out the most shrill, anxious squawk that it had ever uttered since it had begun to follow Meng Hao.
It was usually quite calm and collected. It had never reacted this strongly to anything, not even when it ran into the most luxuriantly furred or feathered creatures. It seemed so nervous that it might collapse at any moment, as if the sky were about to fall or the entire world was about to explode.
“He’s still alive!!” the parrot shrieked. Then it shot toward the residence at top speed, looking completely flustered. It went so fast that numerous feathers were stripped off of it, falling to the ground. Its body shivered with unprecedented terror.
Inside the residence, Meng Hao’s eyes widened at the intensity of the aura, an aura that seemed to either ignore or trample upon all natural laws. It was vastly domineering, as if the Heavens and the starry sky both might be crushed by its terrifying energy.
Suddenly, he could hear a pulsating voice murmuring from within the mirror. It was archaic, seemingly stretching out from ancient times, causing his mind to reel. All of a sudden, countless images flickered in his eyes.
Of all those various images, there were only three that he could see clearly. The rest were flickering blurs. However, the three images he could see caused his scalp to go numb, and his expression to fill with a look of disbelief and utter astonishment.
The first image was that of the Heavens and a starless sky. It was a picture of chaos. There were no heavenly bodies, only emptiness. Then, a beam of light appeared, shooting along at top speed. Within the flickering light, shockingly… was the copper mirror!!
As it flew along, the surface of the mirror flickered. Immediately a heavenly body appeared off to the side. It proceeded along, one after another heavenly body appeared without pause.
In the end its flickering… caused the starry sky to appear, as if it were creating whole worlds!!
The Saint-Emperor smiled, and in response to the Vile-Emperor’s coldness, spoke in the warmest of voices. “It’s been a long time since any damaged treasures fell into the Eternal Immortal Domains from the void. If it weren’t for the vortex created by Bai Xiaochun upon becoming a celestial, it would never even have come. The Saint-Emperor Dynasty can claim credit for this damaged fan. Based on that, do you really think I’ll let you have six spots? Impossible!”
The Vile-Emperor chuckled coldly. Ignoring the Saint-Emperor, he focused on the incoming fan, which was now little more than a streak of light.
Anyone other than these two who were this close to the fan would likely have been killed. But they were archaeans, and were therefore qualified to observe it from this close distance.
Closer and closer….
After a few breaths of time passed, the huge fan slammed into the continent-sized hand of the gigantic sovereign, causing a massive rumbling sound to fill the Eternal Immortal Domains!
It was louder than heavenly thunder, and caused the five immortal domains to tremble. The Eternal Sea churned and heaved wildly.
Bai Xiaochun hovered in midair as the deafening sound rolled out, looking up in the direction of the enormous sovereign’s right hand. There, teetering back and forth… was an enormous, damaged fan!
He could sense something otherworldly about the fan, and the aura which spread out from it into the Eternal Immortal Domains reminded Bai Xiaochun very much of what it felt like to be in the presence of the Saint-Emperor.
“That’s….” Not too far off, Gu Tianjun and the other celestials were also in the air, shaken as they stared up at the fan.
“An archaean magical item….”
“That aura… is described in certain ancient records. It’s the aura of the Immortal from before the great destruction!!”
It wasn’t just Gu Tianjun and the other celestials who were shaken. The celestials in the Vile-Emperor Dynasty were equally stunned. Even Gongsun Wan’er, who was in a distant location at the moment, was taken aback.
There were also many demigod experts within the Eternal Immortal Domains who were now staring up at the enormous damaged fan, their eyes burning with passion.
The enormous hand was not harmed by the fan slamming into it, and in fact, didn’t even move at all in response. But as for the fan, it was severely damaged by the force of the impact. Cracks spread out on its already damaged surface, and then, chunks and rubble began to fall down off it, becoming like blazing meteorites that rained down onto the Eternal Immortal Domains.
There were millions of chunks of such rubble, all of which shot down with shocking speed and energy.
In that very moment, both the Saint-Emperor and the Vile-Emperor took action. Their hands blurred with incantation gestures, causing two immense fields of light to shoot out.
One field was blackish violet, the other was made of five colors, and wherever they went, they transformed the falling rubble into ash. Afterward, both of the emperors sent divine sense out to touch the huge fan.
Although the huge fan was severely damaged, both the face and the frame of the fan remained intact. As for the image depicted on the face of the fan, it was that of an entire world.
“It’s a world treasure. Sadly, it’s energy is fading. Who knows how many things it struck on its journey through the stars. It’s already crumbling and worthless.” Both the Vile-Emperor and the Saint-Emperor shook their heads as they continued to scan the fan.
In the end, they confirmed that the fan did not, in fact, have any of the aura of a sovereign on it. It only contained archaean fluctuations, much the same as the two of them emanated. In fact, it was a bit weaker than that.
Had the fan been a sovereign-level treasure, they would have been very excited, and would have gone to investigate it themselves. But it was not such a treasure, making it of little interest to the two emperors.
However, even as they retracted their divine sense, something else happened. Among all of the countless bits of falling rubble that were being destroyed by the divine abilities they had just unleashed, there was a mountain-sized building. When the building was shattered, a lump of decaying black stone shot out from it! The black rock was vastly smaller than the building around it. But as the building fell apart, the rock completely ignored the beams of light sent out by the Saint-Emperor and the Vile-Emperor, and continued downward toward the Eternal Immortal Domains.
As it descended, it burst into intensely hot flames!
The suddenness of the development caused the faces of the Vile-Emperor and the Saint-Emperor to fall. Both of them could tell that the rock didn’t come from the fan… it came from the enormous sovereign who loomed over the Eternal Immortal Domains!
“Dammit!” Eyes radiating anxiety, the Saint-Emperor burst into motion, heading directly toward the black rock. The Vile-Emperor also began to advance. However, at the same time, he performed an incantation gesture with his right hand, and then pushed it out toward the Saint-Emperor.
The Saint-Emperor immediately vanished, reappearing some distance away with a look of rage on his face.
“What are you doing, Vile-Emperor?!?!”
“What am I doing? Either one of us could use a chunk of that sovereign’s flesh for augury purposes. It could contain secrets about how to break through to the Sovereign Realm! You think I’ll just let you have it?!” Chuckling coldly, he began to rush toward the chunk of black stone.
Killing intent sprang up in the eyes of the Saint-Emperor as he too began to rush toward the rock again. Moments later, the two of them began to launch Daoist magics back and forth against each other as the black rock continued to speed downward. As it did, the rock suddenly split open and began to spew out a dark liquid, as well as something that sounded like a howling voice!
Then, a boom rang out as the rock and the liquid slammed into the surface of the Eternal Sea. As a massive wave rolled out, the rock began to sink down to the bottom of the sea.
The Vile-Emperor and the Saint-Emperor rushed down into the sea to follow it, causing more massive waves to roll out across the surface of the water. Even the immortal domains trembled as a result of what was happening.
Thankfully, the process didn’t last for very long. Moments later, both of the emperors emerged from the sea, grim looks on their faces as they exchanged murderous glances.
“You’d better compensate me for this, Saint-Emperor!”
“It got away! You should be the one compensating me!” They stared at each other icily for a few breaths of time, then turned and left the Eternal Sea to return to their respective immortal domains to search for clues about where the black rock was.
No one except for the two emperors knew exactly what it was they were searching for. After all, few people qualified to have been able to observe what happened with the black meteorite. Furthermore, the aura emanating from the teetering fan up above had completely attracted the attention of the celestials and demigods!
Much talk spread through the immortal domains of the two dynasties during the following weeks.
“Back when the Saint-Emperor Dynasty was surrounded and about to be defeated by the Vile-Emperor Dynasty, the Saint-Emperor suddenly reached the Archaean Realm. It was all because he found a palace that had been floating in the void for countless years!”
“No one knows exactly what he found inside of that palace, but after coming out from it, he was in the Archaean Realm!”
“According to the ancient records I’ve read, every ten thousand years or so, a ruined object from beyond the heavens will fall into the Eternal Immortal Domains. They’re always objects of good fortune for us cultivators!”
Quite a few cultivators began to eye the damaged fan with deep hope.
Demigods and celestials alike were all convinced that there was an archaean aura in the fan, which indicated… that there was a high likelihood that it could provide assistance in reaching the Archaean Realm!
Bai Xiaochun heard a lot of talk about the fan. Furthermore, now that he was a celestial, he had access to ancient records that most other cultivators could never peruse.
“According to the legends, that enormous sovereign destroyed all of the tens of thousands of realms that once existed in the starry sky….
“In that moment, the entire starry sky turned dark as countless worlds were exterminated. Nothing remained alive. The only things left behind were endless wilds and ruins, never-ending amounts of dust and bone….
“Occasionally, some of those ruins will float past the Eternal Immortal Domains…. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, they become good fortune for the cultivators of the Eternal Immortal Domains!”
After studying the jade slip carefully, Bai Xiaochun was quite certain about the origin and nature of the fan.
“An archaean aura…. a damaged world treasure!” He looked up at the huge fan with excitement. From the way it was visibly teetering back and forth, anyone could see that before long, it would fall off the sovereign’s hand and then continue on its way through the starry sky!
For unknown reasons, neither the Saint-Emperor nor the Vile-Emperor seemed inclined to try to keep the fan. Nor did they issue any orders for their subordinates to explore it and search for good fortune. And without their help, not even celestials could possibly reach the fan!
The celestials from the two dynasties spent half a month waiting in eager anticipation, during which time neither the Saint-Emperor nor the Vile-Emperor even made public appearances.
A few more days went by, and finally, the Saint-Emperor returned. When he did, he sent his divine sense out into Saint-Emperor City and summoned the court officials for an audience.
It was impossible to tell what he was thinking, but there was definitely something grim to his expression. IMPRISON THAT WITCH As the officials gathered in the imperial palace, they could see that, and began to get nervous.
Even Bai Xiaochun was acting especially cautious. Thankfully, he hadn’t done anything to arouse public wrath recently, which made him a bit more confident.
The Saint-Emperor currently stood in front of the Dragon Throne, looking around at the gathered cultivators. He didn’t bother with the warm expression he usually wore. It almost seemed like he had taken off a mask to reveal his true expression. His eyes were cold, and his cultivation base emitted powerful fluctuations that weighed down heavily on all of the cultivators in the imperial palace.
Gu Tianjun and the other celestials exchanged glances, their hearts pounding with sensations of foreboding.
The imperial palace was completely silent as the Saint-Emperor looked at his subordinates, and mentally reviewed everything he had done in the past half month. Unfortunately, no matter what he did, no clues had turned up.
As far as the damaged fan went, although it contained good fortune, it was nothing that the Saint-Emperor cared too much for. Furthermore, the black rock was a bad omen that he didn’t want to have much to do with.
However, it demanded an investigation. Only after performing that investigation had he returned and summoned his subordinates to make arrangements to send people to the fan!
“Gu Tianjun. Sima Yunhua.” In response to his words, Gu Tianjun and the scholarly celestial both stepped forward and clasped hands respectfully.
“I would like to trouble the two of you to take a trip to the damaged fan up in the sky. If there is good fortune to be had, the two of you will have a chance to get it.” As Gu Tianjun and Sima Yunhua both looked up, the Saint-Emperor suddenly transmitted some words into their minds that only they could hear.
“Furthermore, you will check to see whether the damaged fan has anything to do with the gigantic sovereign! A chunk of the sovereign’s flesh and blood fell in the form of a stone, which landed in the Eternal Sea and then vanished.”
In response to his words, serious expressions overtook the faces of Gu Tianjun and Sima Yunhua.
Bai Xiaochun maintained full vigilance as this happened. Although he wasn’t sure what the Saint-Emperor had just said to Gu Tianjun and Sima Yunhua, he had the feeling that it had something to with the fan, which only seemed to grow more and more mysterious.
As he pondered the situation, the Saint-Emperor began to list the names of some of the demigods who would assist Gu Tianjun and Sima Yunhua in their venture. Eventually, his gaze came to fall on Bai Xiaochun, who was trying to remain hidden toward the back of the crowd. Thinking about all of the official requests he had received half a month ago, the Saint-Emperor snorted coldly in his heart.
“Duke Heavenspan has become a celestial, so therefore, has earned the title of King Heavenspan. He will also participate in this mission.”
Bai Xiaochun’s heart leapt into his throat. A few days ago, he would have been excited by this opportunity, but now, he had a very ill premonition.
“Saint-Emperor, Your Majesty, um, I’ve been feeling a bit under the weather lately and–“
At this point, the Saint-Emperor turned and began to walk off.
“The matter’s settled!” he said with decisiveness that could sever nails and chop iron. “In three days, I’ll personally send all of you off!”
Next Chapter Bai Xiaochun scowled miserably as the Saint-Emperor walked off. By now, he could see that there was more to this damaged fan mission than met the eye.
That was especially true considering that the Saint-Emperor had essentially gone missing for half a month. Clearly, that had something to do with the fan. When you added in the grim look in the Saint-Emperor’s eyes, it caused Bai Xiaochun to feel very nervous.
Of course, the surrounding court officials were all delighting in Bai Xiaochun’s potential misfortune. By now, all of them were very clear about how well Bai Xiaochun could cause disasters. Whether it was the heavenly dragonfish, the lotus seed, or the lotus roots, all of them were convinced that if Bai Xiaochun stayed in Saint-Emperor City, it would definitely cause chaos.
As far as they were concerned, the Saint-Emperor was being very wise, intelligent, and courageous to send Bai Xiaochun away.
However, none of them allowed their true feelings to show on their faces. Some of them took the initiative to call out greetings to Bai Xiaochun, and even chat with him.
“Congratulations, King Heavenspan! You’re a celestial now. Ha ha, how careless of me to have forgotten to congratulate you earlier! Please, I hope you take no offense!”
“Oh how the Saint-Emperor dotes on you, King Heavenspan! And how jealous I am that you get to search for good fortune in that treasure from beyond the heavens!”
“Best wishes, Heavenly King. I’m sure you’ll meet with instant success, and achieve great benefits!”
After clasping hands and offering such words, the cultivators would leave, chuckling sarcastically in their hearts.
Only Heavenly Marquis Liu seemed to think that the Saint-Emperor had made a bad decision, based on everything he knew about Bai Xiaochun. However, he also felt as though there was more to the story than he understood, and in the end, just sighed and left.
The truth was that the little turtle had come to be a source of much frustration. Although he had been in high spirits because of the incident with the lotus roots, considering he had no evidence to support his claims that Bai Xiaochun was at fault, he didn’t dare to say anything publicly.
After everyone left, Bai Xiaochun stood there miserably for a long moment, before finally shaking his head and heading back to his blessed land. There, he sat down and began to mull over the situation further.
“I’m a celestial, which makes me a lot stronger than before. But for some reason, the Saint-Emperor is in a really bad mood. Furthermore, that damaged fan is definitely going to be very dangerous.” The more he thought about it, the less at ease he felt about the Saint-Emperor’s orders. Furthermore, his final words had been spoken with extreme decisiveness, and also in very threatening fashion. Clearly, if Bai Xiaochun didn’t follow orders, he would be gravely punished.
“Maybe instead of being so cautious, I should go all out from the beginning?” After some more thought, he gritted his teeth and nodded. It wasn’t that he suddenly didn’t fear death. Rather, considering that he would be part of a large group of people, as long as he was careful and didn’t get greedy, his celestial cultivation base should be enough to protect him.
If he had been sent in alone, then he wouldn’t have agreed to go inside the fan no matter what.
“Well, since I’m going, I need to make sure I’m fully prepared.” His hair was already getting disheveled from all the worry. Not wanting to waste any time, he went out and began to spend all the resources he had built up during his time in Saint-Emperor City to start making the proper preparations. Talismans. Magical items. Medicinal pills. He bought all sorts of things.
Meanwhile, word was spreading both within Saint-Emperor City, and in the rest of the dynasty at large, that the Saint-Emperor was sending three celestials into the damaged fan.
There were many people who weren’t in the know that, upon finding out the names of the celestials who would be going to the damaged fan, reached out in the hopes of coming along. The Saint-Emperor didn’t stop that from happening. In fact, it wasn’t just the celestials who this happened to. Even demigod experts such as Preceptor Seadeep began to get groups of followers, all of whom would theoretically have a chance to benefit from going on the mission.
Word spread, and the fact that the mission was rumored to be very dangerous only made some people more interested than before. After all, many people in the cultivation world believed that rewards came only with risk. Therefore, a few days later, when the bells tolled in the imperial palace, Gu Tianjun, Sima Yunhua, as well as the six demigods, including Preceptor Seadeep, each arrived with teams to back them up, teams that had dozens of devas in them.
Everyone was gathered, except for Bai Xiaochun.
Bai Xiaochun had just hurried out of his blessed land. Looking back over his shoulder at the place where he had lived for over a year, he sighed.
“I’m not sure when I’ll be back….” Slapping his bag of holding, he produced several suits of leather armor. If he had had more multi-colored flame, he would have performed more spirit enhancements. But right now, he couldn’t afford to even perform twentyfold enhancements on all of them.
As he walked along, he put on all of the armor, each piece of which was branded with a defensive magical symbol….
Still not happy, he checked around quickly to make sure no one was watching, and then took out his turtle-wok and hung it on his chest like a breastplate. Then he covered it with leather armor. From a distance, his normally thin frame now looked much the opposite. He almost looked like a big ball rolling along. In addition to all of that, he had a black helmet that glowed with the light of a defensive spell formation, as well as a second, larger wok that he strapped on his back.
Anyone from the River-Defying Sect would find this sight very familiar. But these were the Eternal Lands, and thus, everyone who saw him was stunned. The guards outside the imperial palace hardly recognized him.
And when he arrived in the palace square, Gu Tianjun, Sima Yunhua, Preceptor Seadeep, and all of the others who were already there waiting were all visibly stunned. Only when he trundled to a stop next to them did people finally get around to reacting.
“Uh… why is he wearing so much stuff…?”
“Heavens! This Bai Xiaochun has enough defensive magical items to protect a hundred-man army!!”
“Look at that helmet! It’s so hot today, isn’t he uncomfortable…?”
“Forget the helmet. Look at that wok! Unbelievable! Where did he even get it?”
“The militia here have tanks and artillery,” said Big Ivan.
The Madman stopped talking. There was a fleet of eight cars, each of which could carry eight people. However, they brought along a lot of luggage and so each car could only sit four to six people.
The engines of the eight vehicles roared, and with the momentum of Godzilla on the road, they rushed north along the highway.
One thousand kilometers later, the road conditions became vastly different.
The infrastructure in the Siberian region was very primitive. The city and its surrounding area had pretty decent infrastructure, and the roads were well-maintained. As they penetrated the more deserted area, the road seemed to disappear very soon.
In that vast region, there were no roads connecting the cities and towns. From that, it could be deduced that Russia’s finances were in an embarrassing state. Compared with the United States and China, the regional development was far from decent.
Had they been driving a regular car, they would have probably been hopelessly stuck after leaving the highway. However, in their current vehicles, even without roads in the taiga, the ride was still a smooth one.
On that day, the road did not disappear right after they exited the city. It was only after five hours on the road, when they were far from the city, that they really entered the wild Siberia. That was when they faced the situation of having no proper road to travel on.
Of course, if they went directly to the Evenkiysky Autonomous District, it would not be completely road-less. Li Du and his group had wanted to go through the wilderness area to try their luck at bumping into some ivory hunters to ask them about news of the Black Snake.
A satellite positioning system had been installed in the car. After switching it on, road directions appeared. They continued their journey down the deserted path.
However, they were in bad luck. Although the sun had been shining brightly in the morning, the sky suddenly turned gloomy in the afternoon.
Li Du asked, “Will it snow?”
Hudi, who was in the same car, wore a serious expression. After staring out of the car window for a few minutes, he said, “No, it looks like the wind will be strong, but there won’t be snow.”
Li Du heaved a sigh of relief and said, “Thank God. The road conditions are poor enough even without rain or snow.”
At that point, they were already very far away from the nearest city. The car had entered a flat taiga area of small gravel terrain and muddy slush. The car had to pull through the road conditions.
Peering out of the window, Li Du did not see many trees nearby. Instead, he only saw some fluffy balls of various sizes rolling around on the ground.
Prior to the trip, he had done his research and now knew what the fluffy balls were.
Those were bunches of tumbleweed, also known as the Prickly Russian Thistle. It was an annual herbaceous plant with a height ranging from 10 to 100 cm, defined as a semi-shrub or shrub.
As the name suggested, tumbleweed could be lifted by the wind. The plants were shaped like balls, large grass balls with dry, fine foliage.
Most people referred to the plant as a “nomad”. It was more common in the Siberian wilderness. When the drought came, the plants would detach their roots from the soil, roll into a coil and be carried by the wind until they arrived somewhere with abundant water, There, they would re-root to survive.
home and bored so I wrote bored 5000 times It was a plant with a strong will to live. As long as the environment was not too extreme, it would usually survive. As the wind brought the plants to new areas, they would likely find a place suitable for them to grow new roots and germinate.
Li Du only glanced briefly at the tumbleweed. Such plants were common in the wilderness and were nothing special.
However, he learned of the power of those plants not long after.
The car carried on for around another hour in the gloomy weather when the wind started to grow stronger.
The first to be affected were the tumbleweed balls. They flew in all directions with the wind and from time to time would smash against the car.
Of course, as they were light, they did not cause any harm to the car. However, they did impair their vision from inside the vehicle. Besides, the tumbleweed was curved and had many rough bristles on the outer surface, hence the balls would stick to each other once they came together.
Just like that, when the wind grew stronger, they would be blown together and clump into one. Then its volume would be enlarged, and the grass ball of less than one meter in diameter would turn into a huge monster of five, six, or even ten meters!
Seeing that strange phenomenon, Li Du took a deep breath and said, “D*mn, why are there so many of these things?”
Hudi became anxious and said, “Bad luck. We have entered into a region where there is plenty of tumbleweeds. Hurry up and tell everyone to stop the cars and prepare to hide from the wind…”
The wind had already gotten much stronger, not only flinging the tumbleweed around also moving pebbles and clumps of earth.
While the tumbleweed was gentle and light, it was of no harm. However, it was entirely different with the pebbles and earth clods!
‘Pitter-patter, pitter-patter!’ The gravel and icy mud hit against the windows like a drum, while clumps of tumbleweed rolled towards the car. Old Driver did not dare to steer the wheel. The ground was too slippery, the wind was fierce. Turning the car could cause it to flip.
There was nothing they could do but drive on and let the clumps of tumbleweed bump head-on against the car. Otherwise, they risked losing their way.
As a result, no one in the car could see anything anymore. Li Du immediately spoke into the walkie-talkie, “We have met with trouble, folks. How is it going with you guys?”
Steve’s voice sounded, “The situation is not ideal… buzz-buzz… our car is stuck in a mud hole…buzz…buzz…”
The line went dead.
In the car behind, Brother Wolf said, “Boss, stop the car, we will catch up… buzz…buzz. Can hear… buzz.. we are at… buzz…”
“F*ck!” Li Du cursed.
Driver said, “We can’t stop the car! Brother Wolf, do not stop the car! Otherwise, the wind will blow up the muddy water and flood the exhaust pipe. The car will not start again!”
The walkie-talkie became silent. Li Du looked at the signal and noticed that it was gone.
Hudi gritted his teeth and said, “We can’t count on the others anymore. We have to resolve this ourselves. Continue to drive forward, drive slow and I will study the terrain from the back rear window.”
The walkie-talkie rang out again. It was Hawking. “There’s a temporary campsite around here. Try to find it, everyone. Let’s split up and search for it. We can hide from the wind there. Don’t be afraid, such wind is very common in Siberia in the spring. It’s no biggie.”
Li Du’s car was in the direst situation. The car was head-on with the clumps of tumbleweed. They were driving without the ability to see anything in front of them.
He asked Hudi, “Do you know this temporary campsite?”
Hudi replied, “I think I have seen it. Drive slowly and let’s look out for it.”
Driver said coldly, “Even if I wanted to drive fast, I can’t, buddy.”
The car continued slowly and the wind blew with a strength that Li Du had never witnessed before. Even the tornado he experienced in Mexico was nothing compared to this.
The wind blew stronger and stronger and the tumbleweed on the car were all blown away. The people in the car relaxed, but outside, the sky started to darken rapidly. A dust storm was coming!
Spring was a very dry season in Siberia. The earth was coated with broken pebbles and frozen mud. Beneath lay the dry earth.
When the pebbles and mud bits were blown off, the strong wind would blow up the dry earth and create a dust storm.
“D*mn it!” Li Du said helplessly.
Ah Ow and the rest peered out from the window. The weather had frightened them and their tails were all resting in between their legs. All of them were paying attention to Li Du, however, and following orders.
In the dark dust storm, Hudi continued to try his best to evaluate the surroundings. Finally, his face broke into a smile as he pointed to the front and said, “Go in the ten o’clock direction, there’s a temporary campsite!” Chapter 36 – Lower Your Sword!

I turned around and saw Ageless Beauty staring at me with a pair of cold eyes. At the moment of my death, I heard some cold words, “This is what you get for going against Tyrant of Western Chu.”
My body became limp, and I went into the soul status. I respawned in a nearby graveyard, which was near the NPC guard post that I encountered before. Going to the Black-Blooded cave should only take around 10 minutes, but, while ‘saving’ Ageless from danger, I killed a musketeer, and my name became red. Because of that, I dropped an extra level when I died, dropping from 27 straight down to 25. Sigh. What a huge loss!
I stood alone at the graveyard, and checked my item and equipment. I seemed to have dropped my white-tiered cloth wrist and leg guards, but luckily I didn’t drop my Ancient Shining Spear, or else that really would have made my heart break. Also, some other non-essential equipment from my bag also dropped. A red-named player’s item drop rate was really huge.
I clenched my first, and thought back. Ageless Beauty was definitely part of Liu Ying’s group. That guy, to make me take the bait, he used Ageless and Wind Chaser to create such a scene, and Wind Chaser even sacrificed 2 levels for Ageless to gain my trust and empathy. All in all, it was a betrayal, sigh…
Without any rage, I smiled slightly, and took my Ancient Spear. In my soul form, I headed towards the Black-Blooded cave. At the same time, I opened my pet window, and my mood switched instantly. Not towards anger, but towards ecstasy, because in my pet window, I had an extra pet, a Fire Skeleton with lingering flames around it!
I waved my hand over it, and the stats of the Fire Skeleton popped in front of my face, which made me even happier–
The line of words floated in front of me, and I felt like my whole body had been electrocuted. Damn, this luck. This might be the first pet that had 100% excellence. Looking at this Fire Skeleton’s attack, HP, and the 100% excellence, wasn’t this a godly pet? In fact, compared to my previous sales of the Silver-Feathered Bird, Killer Bee etc, this Fire Skeleton was on another level!
Great, even though I didn’t finish my mission this time, it was fine. This Fire Skeleton would sell for at least 100 gold coins! I was rich!
I made my way back, and returned to the 3rd level of the cave. Looking from afar, I noticed that Tyrant of Western Chu, Ageless Beauty and Wind Chaser etc. were grouping together to clear out the Fire Skeletons, slowly advancing towards the staircase going to the 4th level.
My corpse was within the group of people, silently laying there. A system notification said that I could revive right now, but I instantly clicked the ‘No’ button. If I revived right now I would get slaughtered instantly!
Looking at my corpse. Ageless Beauty frowned slightly, and said, “Xiao Yao Zi Zai must really hate me right now…”
Wind Chaser spun around and said, “Don’t worry about it. The moment this person entered Ba Huang City he has been obstructing [Wrath of the Heroes]’ plans. Hmph, he deserves to die!”
Yan Suo held her dagger and said “This…Xiao Yao Zi Zai, is he really Li Xiao Yao, a first year in our Liu Hua university?”
“Yeah, you should be able to check the archives. Li Xiao Yao, a newcomer in the Chinese department’s class 1.”
Yan Suo still seemed very worried.
Liu Ying held his sword and walked towards her. He embraced her, “Xu Yue, why are you so worried? Remember, you are my woman, you need to forever stand by me! Is it that…you’ve fallen for that little brat?”
Yan Suo’s little mouth opened, but she said nothing. After a short while, she suddenly hit Liu Ying’s chest and smiled, “What kind of joke is that? I fall for Li Xiao Yao? Impossible. Although he’s very handsome, I don’t like weak people. Don’t tell me that it’s not clear to you who I like?”
Liu Ying laughed, lowered his head and kissed Ageless’ lips. “After we finish this map, we’ll properly enjoy ourselves! Haha!”
Yan Suo’s face became red, and she continue stay in Liu Ying’s embrace.
While holding a gun, Piggy ran towards them, “Cough, Boss. We need to hurry and kill off the monsters so we can enter the 4th level quick right? I feel like Xiao Yao’s soul has already come back, or maybe he’s even watching at this moment. Are you trying to anger him to death by showing all this love? You know what they say, the more love you show, the faster you die…”
Liu Ying raised his eyebrows, and shouted into the empty space behind him, “Li Xiao Yao, do you see this? She’s mine, don’t even think about touching her you little brat!”
I clenched my fists and stood there without moving. A gentleman’s revenge could wait 10 years! Doomsday Pillars I must have patience.
After half an hour or so, the 40+ people from [Wrath of the Heroes] completely wiped out the Fire Skeletons, and they even got a few Green-ranked equipment from the drops. All of them were excited, and praised this cave.
The moment before entering the 4th level, Tyrant of Western Chu glanced at my corpse, and said, “You three, stay here to look over his corpse. The rest follow with me into the 4th level, the boss in the cave should still be there, don’t let him ruin our boss hunting!”
One knight and two musketeers stayed next to my corpse.
I chose not to revive, and I followed them in my soul form into the 4th level of the cave. The 4th level was occupied by Black-blood zombies, level 33 monsters with very high attack damage. But Liu Ying had brought 40+ people, all over level 20 and promoted, so killing the Black-blood zombies was a piece of cake.
I stood in the corridor of the 4th floor, and looked from afar. Mm, behind the crowds of Black-blooded zombies, there was a grey shadow sitting quietly. He was holding a staff, with loose hair, and his whole face was black. He didn’t look anything like a human nor a ghost, extremely frightening. Hovering over him were some eye-catching words–
[Mage Bi Ke]（Gold-ranked Boss）
The Goddess Dion was startled as she looked at Yi Ping with melancholy eyes before she answered softly, “It is…”
But she quickly regained her composure to say, “Let’s us be on our way.”
They did not talk further after this.
When they had entered through the gates of the Verdant Palace, Yi Ping first impression was that it was only too imposing and that no words could describe its grandness.
The Goddess Dion said quietly, “We have almost reached. After this is the Antiquity Hall of the Universe.”
There were hundreds of Desolate Immortals in the grand hall when Yi Ping had entered it. All the Desolate Immortals were all talking among themselves.
Upon Yi Ping’s approach, almost all of them stopped their conversations and were looking into his direction!
Yi Ping immediately felt uneasy at the many eyes that were upon him and he wondered why they were all looking at him with such weird expression?
All of a sudden the Great Lord Shenmu had hastily walked from the crowd as he laughed jovially, “So our most important guest of honor is here. Quick summon the Great Lord Xuan Yuan now!”
He turned around to laugh loudly, “Open your eyes! He is the one that have fought against the two bitches earlier! What do we call him? He is the hero of the Verdant Palace!”
At the loud announcement of the Great Lord Shenmu, all the Desolate Immortals quickly greeted Yi Ping at the same time, causing the grand hall to explode with their outbursts!
The Great Lord Shenmu laughed jovially as he patted Yi Ping on his shoulder, “Look! You are so popular already!”
Yi Ping smiled weakly, “Not at all…”
“Not at all? So someone gains his popularity because of someone here decides to call us bitches?” A familiar feminine said unhappily.
Immediately the Great Lord Shenmu and the rest of the crowd fell into dead silent as the Dark Goddess Xia Hsien and the Heaven Goddess Zero walked into the grand hall!
The Dark Goddess Xia Hsien stared coldly at the Great Lord Shenmu as she continued, “Eh, do you dare to say it again in front of my face again?”
The Great Lord Shenmu began to fluster as he said quickly, “I don’t mean it…”
The Dark Goddess Xia Hsien interrupted coldly, “You don’t mean it or you don’t dare to say it?”
Many of the Desolate Immortals were caught in a dilemma. They had never seen the Great Lord Shenmu looked this flustered before.
One of the Desolate Immortals quickly said aloud, “This is the domain of the Great Lord Xuan Yuan and the Great Lord Shenmu. Do you think that with your current immortal positioning, you are even fit to address the Great Lord Shenmu in this manner?”
Perhaps he thought he could score some points with the Great Lord Shenmu by speaking on his behalf but instead of gaining appreciation, the Great Lord Shenmu turned to look at him angrily before he said rudely. “Do you think you are even fit to address the two Great Goddesses?”
That Desolate Immortal immediately turned ashen as he quickly lowered his head awkwardly!
The Dark Goddess Xia Hsien raised her eyebrows in surprise as she looked at the Great Lord Shenmu before she said coldly, “I am glad you still have some saving grace after all.”
The Heaven Goddess Zero looked at Yi Ping with a smile, “So you are a hero of the Verdant Palace now? What a pity that you have chosen to be their lackeys!”
Yi Ping knew that she was trying to provoke him but he was calm. He was usually not bothered with petty meddles. But if it was a fight then maybe he would really be interested but he was not the type to pick a fight because he liked to fight.
The Great Lord Shenmu asked weakly, “May I know what brings our two Great Goddesses here?”
The Heaven Goddess Zero looked a little annoyed that Yi Ping had remained expressionless but she answered nonetheless to the Great Lord Shenmu, “We are here to attend the grand unison of the Great Lord Xuan Yuan naturally. Why else should we be here for?”
The Great Lord Shenmu groaned, “The Firmament Citadel has never ever sent any representatives to the Verdant Palace. I am just so surprised.”
The Heaven Goddess Zero hummed coldly, “Things may change. After all, if we did not come today then we may never know what you are calling us behind our back!”
The Great Lord Shenmu smiled weakly as he said, “Please be seated then!”
When he had pointed to a corner, a lingering fragrance had entered the great hall and said sweetly, “Hey. Look who here? It is the two bitches from the Firmament Citadel!”
Everyone in the grand hall, including Yi Ping and the Great Lord Shenmu were startled by the sweet voice.
The Dark Goddess Xia Hsien and the Heaven Goddess Zero were equally startled as they turned around just in time to witness the Alluring Goddess Theresa walking into the grand hall!
The crowd was even more startled to see the Alluring Goddess Theresa than the Dark Goddess Xia Hsien and the Heaven Goddess Zero!
The Dark Goddess Xia Hsien hummed coldly, “I have thought who is here. So it is the Queen of the Bitches that is here!”
The Alluring Goddess Theresa laughed alluringly, “Ye, ye! Your queen is here now. Hurry and bow before me!”
The Dark Goddess Xia Hsien laughed jovially, “Are you so shameless? If I really bow to you then I will have to address you as that title.”
The Heaven Goddess Zero smiled, “Then it will be such a great loss of face for you!”
The Alluring Goddess Theresa smiled faintly, “If you dare, I don’t mind. After all, I have two little bitches here for company.”
The Great Lord Shenmu interrupted politely, “I don’t know that the Alluring Goddess Theresa will be here today or else I will surely give you a grand welcome.”
The Alluring Goddess Theresa smiled sweetly, “Alas, I have never liked to attend this type of occasion. But…”
She shot a glance at the Dark Goddess Xia Hsien and the Heaven Goddess Zero as she said coldly, “If they can be here for the first time then why can’t I come as well?”
The Great Lord Shenmu was render almost speechless as he muttered, “Yes, yes. Come, come…”
The Dark Goddess Xia Hsien said all of a sudden, “Since the Alluring Goddess Theresa is here to attend the unison ceremony then we shall not impose ourselves anymore…”
The Great Lord Shenmu panicky said, “It is alright. You…can stay…not imposing at all…”
Yi Ping smiled weakly. It was because it was only too obvious to him that the Great Lord Shenmu wanted the Dark Goddess Xia Hsien to stay as long as possible.
The Dark Goddess Xia Hsien pointed at Yi Ping all of a sudden, “Why are you smiling like this? How dare you take liberties with us yesterday and now this!”
She turned to look at the Great Lord Shenmu, “Everyone knows what had happened in the street yesterday and now you have witnessed his outrageous smile. Great Lord Shenmu, if you still value the close ties between the Verdant Palace and the Firmament Citadel then surrender him to us!”
Yi Ping smiled bitterly to himself. Even he could see plainly that they were here for him and that attending the unison ceremony was just their lame excuse…
The Heaven Goddess Zero smiled as she looked intently at Yi Ping, “Do you dare to come with us? We promise that we won’t eat you up.”
She added quickly as she looked at the Great Lord Shenmu and the Alluring Goddess Theresa as she whispered, “It will be more dangerous if you are in their company.”
The Alluring Goddess Theresa said coldly, “We are not deaf, you know. Fancy you slandering us right in front of us.”
The Dark Goddess Xia Hsien said firmly, “I am not asking you. I am asking him!”
The Great Lord Shenmu said with equal firmness, “He is a guest of the Verdant Palace. You can’t take him away just like this!”
The Heaven Goddess Zero interrupted, “But he don’t look like a guest. More like a captive of the Verdant Palace, am I right?”
The Alluring Goddess Theresa smiled faintly as she looked at the Great Lord Shenmu, “What a tricky question. Only idiots will answer that…”
But the Great Lord Shenmu had already answered, “Of course not!…”
The Heaven Goddess Zero laughed softly, “Good! The Fall of the World Since he is a guest and not a captive of the Verdant Palace then he is free to leave as he wishes. You have heard the Great Lord Shenmu!”
The Great Lord Shenmu was startled as he quickly protested, “No, that is not what I mean…”
The Heaven Goddess Zero immediately reached out for Yi Ping as she smirked coldly, “Then good! I am taking him away now!”
But before Yi Ping could move away from her, the Alluring Goddess Theresa had intercepted the Heaven Goddess Zero with a quick hand attack as she laughed along. “Wait a minute! I am taking him away as well!”
The Heaven Goddess Zero retaliated with several quick fists as she said coldly, “I beg your pardon again! We have claimed him first!”
The Dark Goddess Xia Hsien had also joined in the fight as she raised her fists against the Alluring Goddess Theresa, “You claim to be the number one fighter so two of us versus you isn’t so shameful, isn’t it?”
In the next instant, dozens of shadow fists were flurried in all directions as the three maidens began to fight in earnest!
Yi Ping quickly exclaimed aloud, “Wait! Stop it! Great Lord Shenmu, you are not stopping them?”
The Great Lord Shenmu smiled weakly, “I only know how to fight and I don’t know how to stop them…”
Yi Ping was exasperated as he quickly dashed into their midst as he displayed the Asper Continuum, immediately displaying dozens of shadowy palms around him!
The three maidens quickly increased the pace of their attacks and they were all fighting Yi Ping at the same time now!
The Alluring Goddess Theresa smiled, “Hero, don’t think that because I want you, I will be inclined to show mercy. That won’t be the case. That is because…”
All of a sudden there were five brilliant white lights as she switched her palm to a claw attack, imploding thunderously and dispersing Yi Ping’s Asper Continuum!
Yi Ping was secretly startled, “She can break my strokes in such a short time?”
No sooner was Yi Ping caught off guarded, the Dark Goddess Xia Hsien and the Heaven Goddess Zero had struck him on his chest at the same time with a thunderous impact, sending him to fly backward!
The Heaven Goddess Zero giggled softly at the same time she had struck Yi Ping, “Oh sorry! I can’t resist taking some advantage! Is it painful?”
As Yi Ping got up, he could feel his chest trembling with pain!
It seemed that the blows that he had received were tremendous indeed. It was a lucky thing that he had attained the Ninth Positioning Rank or else the blows that he had just received would surely have damaged his golden body!
The Dark Goddess Xia Hsien gave him an eye candy as she smiled, “Sister, he is not so tough after all. I have thought that he is really good!”
The Heaven Goddess Zero smiled as she looked coldly at everyone in the grand hall, “That is because I have underestimated him earlier but it seems that he is really nothing special at all!”
The Alluring Goddess Theresa laughed, “Oh well! Since he is nothing special at all, why don’t you give him to me instead?”
She winked at Yi Ping, “You didn’t think that you alone can handle the three of us?”
Yi Ping smiled weakly as he quickly said, “Not at all. I wouldn’t dare!”
He thought to himself, “At least I have stopped them from fighting temporary. But the three of them together are really formidable. I can’t find a loophole in their moves at all…”
The Alluring Goddess Theresa turned to look maliciously at the Dark Goddess Xia Hsien and the Heaven Goddess Zero as she smiled, “Alas! It seems that we can’t play a little longer. It seems that the host is finally here!”
Indeed barely had she said that, the Great Lord Xuan Yuan had walked into the grand hall. He was garbed in red and scarlet finery. He appeared none the pleased as he stared coldly at the Alluring Goddess Theresa, the Dark Goddess Xia Hsien and the Heaven Goddess Zero!
The entire grand hall fell into deep disquiet as hundreds of Desolate Immortals quickly greeted the Great Lord Xuan Yuan!
The Great Lord Shenmu smiled uneasily as he said, “My lord, it is my fault that I can’t stop them from creating an unrest.”
The Great Lord Xuan Yuan touched the hilt of his sword as he said slowly and coldly, “This is my domain. If anyone thinks that they can create a din in my domain then I shall not be polite. If you want to beat the dog then you have to see who the master is…”
The malevolent air that was in the grand hall was suddenly eerie and even Yi Ping could feel a great sense of uneasiness. It was as though the Great Lord Xuan Yuan would explode in anger at any time. He was beginning to fear for the Alluring Goddess Theresa, the Dark Goddess Xia Hsien and the Heaven Goddess Zero!
The Great Lord Xuan Yuan continued to say coldly, “No matter whom you think you are…”
“So who is the dog and who is the master?” The Dark Goddess Xia Hsien asked all of a sudden. Her eyes and smiles were full of innocent and she was altogether earnest!
Yi Ping and everyone in the grand hall were shocked by her direct defiant!
Yi Ping secretly began to admire this Dark Goddess Xia Hsien even as he feared for her as he thought, “She really have guts. No wonder the Great Lord Shenmu admires her so much. Even I am impressed by her…”
All of a sudden the floor beneath the Great Lord Xuan Yuan began to crackle as the malevolent air of the Great Lord Xuan Yuan began to increase rapidly!
The Alluring Goddess Theresa smiled sweetly as she played with her fingers, “It seems that that the Great Lord Xuan Yuan is really angry, very angry. Soon we have two unfortunate souls here!”
The Dark Goddess Xia Hsien giggled softly, “We shall see indeed!”
The Heaven Goddess Zero laughed softly, “Indeed!”
Yi Ping was perplexed as he thought, “Don’t they know that they are in a dire straits now? With just the two of them, they are not the match of the Great Lord Xuan Yuan! And moreover, they can’t possibly fight so many Desolate Immortals at the same time!”
The Great Lord Xuan Yuan said coldly as the entire hall seemingly grown very dark, “Indeed!”
Ch241 End Chapter 242: The Great Lord Shenmu
Yi Ping thought to himself, “No, this Dark Goddess Xia Hsien looks like a smart person. She won’t be so foolish and reckless to provoke the Great Lord Xuan Yuan. But I have no desire to witness whatever plans they have in mind. It may be a result that I don’t want to witness…”
Rody nodded his head. “There is no time left. I will have to adapt. Nicole… I am just worried that His Majesty could see through my disguise.”
Nicole pondered deeply before she said. “He should not be able to. His Majesty has hardly met Seth and should not be able to see through your disguise. I have also already taught you the basic courtesy. There should not be a big flaw. I only worry…”
Nicole sighed. “I am afraid that His Majesty the Emperor actually dislikes my brother.”
“Why?” Rody frowned.
Looking strange, Nicole answered. “Because of Jojo!” She continued before Rody could speak. “Originally, I did not know about my brother and Jojo’s relationship but I think that secret could not be kept from His Majesty. Did you know? His Majesty is really attracted to Jojo. Jojo has been in the Imperial Capital for a very long time. Although she was the Empress’s sister, His Majesty did not bestow the ‘Princess’ title to her. This is probably because he wants to have Jojo ….”
Rody made a wry smile. “So you are saying that His Majesty may know about Seth and Jojo’s relationship and may hate me very much?”
Nicole shook her head and forced a smile. “That is also one of the problems I am worried about. However, His Majesty is unlikely to raise such matters openly. Today, the most important thing is to solve the problem of your dispute with the Great Moon Kingdom’s envoy… In other words, whatever the punishment is given to you, you will have to bear it.”
Rody gave a cold smile. “What else can they do? How can they push the responsibility to Bayan? He is His Majesty’s nephew!”
Nicole sighed and did not say anything. She only concentrated on fixing Rody’s uniform. Rody also not did not say anything because he knows that nothing that he says would help him. He can only take a step at a time.
Before leaving, Rody thought for a moment and asked a servant to bring him the lightsaber hanging on the wall in his room. Although he did not know how to use that saber, having it somehow makes him calm. Even though he could move right now, that earlier fight had used up all of his energy, especially that last attack which almost made him collapse. Although he feels better right now, he was still unable to fight. He just wants to carry that saber to build up his courage to defend himself if needed.
Nicole led Rody out to board the carriage. According to her intention, she wanted to accompany Rody. However, the deputy commander Gordon refused her request.
“His Majesty the Emperor said he only wants to meet Young Master Seth. Miss Nicole, please stay at home.” Gordon said lightly. Noticing the fearful look on Nicole’s face, Gordon’s heart went soft and then whispered to Nicole. “Miss Nicole, do not worry. His Majesty already seems to know what happened when he gave me the order. However, His Majesty seems to be in a good mood and did not seem angry. Nothing should happen to Young Master Seth.”
Nicole froze for a moment and looked at Gordon, surprised. She could not understand why Gordon was on her side.
Gordon showed a solemn look and nodded to Nicole. He softly said. “I was one of the Duke’s subordinates many years ago.”
Nicole calmed down and nodded her head in gratitude.
When Rody got onto the carriage, Gordon gave an order and the twenty odd knights got on their horses. Chapter 50: Glory and Disgrace

The Imperial Palace was built in the center of the Empire, more than 400 years ago when the Empire was founded. It was an enormous structure built using granite shipped from the north. From the Empire’s few centuries’ worth of history, Rody learned that the Empire had gone through many hardships and wars. Rody was unable to remember them all.
During the Empire’s 49th year, the Empire was at war with the Northern Roland Continent and entered a moment of crisis. The granite palace became the last military stronghold. Both sides had about 200,000 soldiers and they fought at the fort of the palace for a total of 17 days. Finally, the third Duke of the Tulip Family led 100,000 soldiers that helped to repel the enemy and defend the palace.
During the Empire’s 109th year, there was an internal strife. The emperor was assassinated by a rebellious minister. The rebellious minister then put a prince there and controlled him like a puppet. After that, the sixth Duke of Tulip Family ran away from the Imperial Capital. Fifteen days later, he came back to the Imperial Capital with 9,000 soldiers. They took six days to break through the city walls and later fought 20,000 rebels for two days and two nights. The duke personally killed the rebellious leader, Davis and continued to attack the Imperial City with thousands of soldiers. Due to that war, the river near the walls turned red with blood for a full two weeks, before returning to its original color.
During the Empire’s 209th year, after the internal strife the most outstanding emperor in the whole of Empire’s history, Abbas the Great ascended the throne. Abbas was the Empire’s greatest emperor in their 400 years of history. However, during his reign he was also the emperor that killed the most people. Abbas had the support of the Tulip Family and killed more than 1,000 of the ministers and kinsmen that opposed his rule. That included his younger brother and his uncle. About 100 years later, the Empire once again experienced a bloody baptism. On that night, the whole Empire was filled with shrilled screams and the stench of the blood. After a heavy downpour, the whole Empire was covered in red.
During the 30 years of Abbas the Great’s reign, he created the Empire’s formidable cavalry. The cavalry was well known in the mainland as the Lightning God Legion. Under Abbas’ great leadership and the Tulip Family’s outstanding commands, the cavalry conquered the entire continent. Only in the mainland at the Northwest Grasslands, was there a strong and unknown resistance from the nomads who refused to be ruled by the Empire. Abbas the Great then implemented firm strategies. “In all parts of the mainland where the sun shines, everyone must respect the imperial law and authority! The obedient ones will be rewarded while the rebellious ones will be mercilessly punished.” Finally, the marshal of the Empire massacred 60,000 foreign troops and captured their leader, Halifax. Abbas the Great then ordered for this foreign leader to be publicly trampled by horses until he died.
At last, the whole continent finally unified and became the Empire’s territory. As a result, the Empire in the south and Roland in the north, separated by the straits, were in quite a confrontational setup. Also in that era, the Great Sage Dandong was born. He became Abbas the Great’s most powerful assistant as he single handedly planned a series of reforms, giving the Empire a lot of vigor. Also in that palace, Abbas the Great renamed the Empire as the Radiant Empire1. The name of the Radiant Empire reverberated through the whole continent.
Twenty-three years ago, the Empire once again went through a historical moment. It was its first defeat and humiliation after a few hundred years. The foreigners from the Northwest Grasslands raised their banners and declared independence. They then formed the Great Moon Kingdom. On top of that, the commander of the army who was Tulip Family’s head died of illness. Eventually, the Empire’s Central Cavalry were defeated by the Great Moon Kingdom’s armored cavalry. As they were defeated, the Empire had to acknowledge the Great Moon Kingdom’s independence. Trial Husband After that, the Empire and the Great Moon Kingdom signed an agreement in the hall constructed by Abbas the Great, agreeing to the division of their lands.
Rody sat in the carriage and occasionally gazed out of the window, looking towards the palace in the distance. He recalled seeing the picture of the palace in history books. He did not know what his fate would be when he arrived there.
Rody stared at the palace which was getting closer. As night drew nearer, he had a peculiar feeling.
This is the heart of the Empire!
The palace was surrounded by about 60 miles of wall, completely constructed with huge rocks. Its height and thickness were about the same as the wall of the Imperial Capital but its strength was much stronger. Standing on the wall were the Imperial Guards wearing golden armors and holding spears. There was also a brightly colored banner with a thorny flower, flapping in the wind. This wall was originally something built in haste during the war. A few hundred years later, an ancient emperor renovated the wall. The original castle-like wall was given a magnificent coating to make it similar to the Imperial Palace. The original iron gate was replaced with a golden gate, the symbol of the Imperial Family’s dignity.
As the carriage passed through the gate, Rody could not help but mentally try to calculate as to how many years of a commoner’s expenses could be covered by the cost of the gate’s platinum gold coating.
Under the guidance of the Imperial Guards, the carriage stopped at the entrance of the inner city of the Imperial Palace. At this point, Rody had to get off the carriage. Nobody except His Majesty the Emperor was allowed to ride a carriage into the inner city.
Twelve fully armed guards led the way. Rody eventually reached the audience hall. The thick and heavy door made of wood and iron was already open. Following Gordon’s instructions, Rody slowly walked into the audience hall alone.
The 16 huge pillars in the audience hall looked dignified. The audience hall was surrounded and illuminated by large candles, made of cattle fat. The illumination was so bright that it seemed as if it was daytime. When Rody stepped onto the floor, it gave out a soft sound. Rody noticed that the floor of the audience hall was made out of gold. On both sides of the audience hall, rows of guards in armor stood. They only revealed their eyes and they had axes in their hands. They looked straight in front and did not glance at Rody.
“Hmph,… gold. The Imperial Palace is really like what the legend said… like a cage.” Rody could not help but think to himself.
Gordon pointed to the door at the end of the hall and whispered, “His Majesty is in there waiting for you.” He hesitated for a moment before saying again, “Young Master Seth, please give me your sword.”
Rody knew he could not refuse. He gave the lightsaber to Gordon. Gordon nodded his head and passed on the sword to one of the guards at the door before walking with Rody towards the back.
The two guards, at the side of the entrance, carefully interrogated Gordon. Only when Gordon produced the command plate did they allow Rody to enter.
The door slowly opened and Rody immediately felt a chill.
It was a side hall, which was actually the real center of the Empire. It was noted in the Empire’s history, that all the important policies and strategies were agreed and fixed here by the emperor and his ministers.
The inside of the hall was mostly empty. Enchanting Martial Doctor He felt a strange sense of relief from the ceiling that gave off a gentle and chilling light. Rody knew that this was an illuminating spell. There were no decorations or furnishings in the middle of the room. There was only a huge and long table in the wide, open hall. At the end of the table, there was a long and thin silhouette.
He wore a long white robe and had long black hair tied up behind his head. His face looked abnormally fair as if it was devoid of color. He carefully looked at Rody with eyes which looked like two bright gems. Although the person was just quietly standing there, Rody could feel a tremendous kind of invisible pressure.
Rody immediately bowed his head and knelt down. He spoke loudly, “I am Tulip Family’s Seth Rudolph. I present myself to His Majesty the Emperor!”
The white robed person in the distance seemed motionless. He gently nodded but he did seem to have intention of allowing Rody to stand up.
The current Radiant Empire Emperor quietly looked at Rody. His gaze was as if he could see through Rody. Rody did not know how long he had knelt. He could feel the cold sweat flowing down his back. After a while, he heard a clear and resounding voice.
“Seth! I have a difficult problem. I hope you can solve it for me!”
1 The original name, guāngmíng dìguó meant Light Empire or Bright Empire but it sounds awkward as the name of a kingdom so I picked Radiant instead. Chapter 51: Entrusted Important Task

Rody slowly raised his head and felt the other party’s sharp gaze. He did not know why but that gaze made his hair stand.
“Seth, come here!”
Rody swallowed his saliva and slowly stood up. He then walked a few steps forward.
The person in front of him was the Empire’s emperor, Abbas XI! In his heart, Rody felt unimpressed.
Why does he not look very spirited?
Based on Rody’s perception, the emperor as a descendant of Abbas the Great should be wearing golden armor. The emperor should be stalwart and give off a majestic impression. However, the middle-aged man in front of him looked pale and his thin body was hidden under the white robe. He gave people a deep, eerie impression.
Hmph! Looks like being an emperor is not necessarily a joyous affair. Look at his appearance, his forehead is full of wrinkles. He must be frowning constantly.
Rody stood in front of the emperor, about ten steps away. He did not dare to go any nearer.
Abbas XI finally looked away and lightly sighed.
“Seth, how long has it been since I last saw you? Hmm… It should be a good few years? It was when your father passed away. At that time you were still a child,” Abbas XI spoke in a somewhat sad tone.
Rody kept his mouth shut and lowered his head.
“In just a few years, you have become robust. Much better than your father during those years,” Abbas XI spoke as he walked slowly towards Rody. He extended his hand to pat Rody’s shoulder and said, “I know your sense of unease. Today’s incident has already been reported to me.”
Rody thought for a moment and was finding the right words to say when the emperor stopped him with a gesture.
“I know what you want to say. Bayan already told me about it. However, I know that his stories were filled with exaggerations. Hmph, I am not old and confused yet but this incident actually happened. You actually injured the guy so, you must also understand the consequences.”
Rody nodded. Nicole reminded him earlier not to say too much. The more he said the more mistakes he could make.
Abbas XI looked at Rody’s eyes with some interest. He gave a cold smile and slowly asked, “Why do you not speak? I heard that your temperament is not like this. You are well known as an extremely audacious person.
Rody took a deep breath and slowly raised his head. He looked directly at the emperor’s eyes and solemnly said, “Your Majesty, I do not know what to say. For Your Majesty to summon me, there must already be a decision.”
Abbas XI looked surprise momentarily before he slightly frowned and pondered. He asked slowly, “Do you know about the war between the Empire and the Great Moon Kingdom?”
Rody thought to himself. Although the news of the fight had been concealed, it could not have been concealed from those in the upper strata. Otherwise, Nicole would not have found out about it. For His Majesty to ask Rody this question, it would mean that he was aware of Rody’s knowledge about the situation. That would mean that it was useless for him to pretend. As a result, it would be better for him to gracefully acknowledge by nodding his head.
“Very good,” Abbas XI nodded his head. “You are pretty smart to know that you cannot lie to me,” his tone was awe-inspiring. Soon, he changed his tone and asked again, “As the heir of the Tulip Family, what do you think of the Imperial Army in this case?”
Rody thought for a moment and loudly proclaimed, “The Tulip Family is willing to go to war and risk their lives to defend the dignity of the Empire!”
Those words were also taught to him by Nicole. Whatever it was, those words would definitely not offend His Majesty.
Sure enough, a trace of satisfactory smile appeared on Abbas XI’s pale face. “Unfortunately, you are still young and have not inherited the title. Otherwise, I really hope you can be of service to me. I also hope that the unbeatable history of the Tulip family would continue through you! Great Moon Kingdom, hmph! Merely a group of uncivilized foreign barbarians!” His Majesty exposed his resentment from his last few words.
Rody sneered in his heart.
Barbarians? A group of barbarians fought to the extent that your personally appointed commander of the Northwest Legion was so badly defeated?
Of course, Rody did not say those words out loud. He swallowed his saliva and silently said, “Your Majesty is brilliant!” Rody kept his criticisms to himself.
Abbas XI also sighed as if he was aware of his own outburst. He lowered his voice and spoke, “The Empire has just been defeated and the morale is low. I summoned you here so that you can help me with one thing.”
Rody immediately remembered Nicole’s words and hurriedly proclaim his boundless loyalty. He knelt with one knee and earnestly looked at His Majesty in a 45o angle while cursing in his heart.
This preposterous Empire’s family heir is really stifling!
Abbas XI stared at Rody seeming satisfied and spoke, “I have decided to bring forward your succession ceremony. Three days from now, I will personally host your succession ceremony. If you can pass the Imperial Examination, I will officially announce your inheritance of the Tulip Family’s title and you will become the new Duke Rudolph. After that, I will have a more important mission for you!”
Rody did not say anything but he gave the Emperor a dignified look. He knew that at this moment, he must definitely not show a surprised face.
As expected, Abbas XI nodded when he saw Rody maintaining his calm and loudly proclaimed, “If you successfully inherit the title, I will appoint you as the Northwest Inspection Special Envoy and I will order you to immediately go to the Northwest Region to aid General Ruben of the Northwest Legion to take charge of military affairs.”
“Ah?” Even though Rody tried to maintain his calm, when he heard those words, he was unable to conceal it.
Go to the front lines? Northwest Inspection Special Envoy? That is the title of the Imperial Envoy.
Although Rody had never been a government official, he had been to the Imperial Academy and knew the meaning of being a special envoy.
It meant that at exceptional moments, he would have full control of military affairs in the Northwest Region. During critical moments, he could even overwrite the orders of the original First Commander of the Northwest Legion.
Abbas XI sighed.
“I know that you are still too young and you should not bear this burden. However, this is now a difficult time for the Empire. The Tulip Family is the ‘God of War’ and flagship of the Empire. Now is the time where the Empire needs the Tulip Family the most.” The emperor’s dignified gaze soften and his voice also lowered, “Even though I want you to go to the Northwest, I do not really expect you to change the situation immediately. After all, you are still young and do not have much experience. What I need are your banners! When the soldiers are defeated, I want your family banner to come up and stabilize the morale of the army. Seth, I do not need you to do too many things! I just need you to go to the front lines! As long as your family banner is up, the morale of the soldiers will be secured. Do you understand my intentions?”
“I understand!” Rody breathed a sigh of relief.
He was not afraid of fighting on the front lines. As a warrior, he had already plan to join the military and become a solider. Nonetheless, at his tender age, he was inevitably apprehensive to be suddenly entrusted with an important task. However, the emperor was clear in his commands and did not expect him to actually command the army. He just wanted Rody to go out and show himself to the soldiers. The fact was, utilizing the legend of the undefeated Tulip Family was a good tactic to sustain the morale of the army.
When Abbas XI saw Rody’s nervousness, he smiled and said, “I believe that the Tulip Family would not disappoint me. That is why I hope that you can live up to my expectations.”
Rody took a deep breath, slowly knelt down and said, “Yes.”
Since all was said and done, the emperor nodded indicating that Rody could now leave. Rody slowly stood up and showed his respect before leaving.
When he reached the entrance, the emperor suddenly spoke again.
“Seth, I heard that you got close with Jojo recently… I hope that you will not be distracted by anything else at this time.”
Rody turned stiff as he secretly scoffed. He slowly turned and said. “I understand.”
Hmph! To fight with the emperor for a woman. I do not have such interests!
When he left the audience hall, Rody first looked for Gordon to take the light saber back. After that, he got on the carriage without a word.
When Rody got home, Nicole was surprised that he returned so early. By the time Rody related about his meeting with the Emperor, Nicole’s face was full of solemn expression.
“His Majesty did not blame you?”
Rody sighed. “I also felt strange. His Majesty lightly spoke about it before changing the subject.”
All the disciples chanted in high spirits. They would always remember the events of today in their hearts. In the thousands of years of history of Glory Sect, this was the first time something as such had happened. Looking at the dead bodies of their fellow brothers in the vicinity, all of them were driven with an unspeakable rage.
This was a trial for them, a mental trial to overcome.
Looking at the disciples surrounding him, Zhang Ergou was filled with motivation as well. As long as they were united, there was definitely no obstacle they couldn’t overcome.
Outside the Main Hall…
When Zhang Ergou and the others arrived, they saw the Grandmaster being protected by a Senior Elder on his side, and hurried their footsteps.
The Jiuxiao Sect disciples were yet to be eliminated. Those disciples they had killed off were those of weaker cultivation bases. The stronger ones had retreated to the entrance of Glory Sect. There, they were awaiting Grandmaster Han to take down the strongest powerhouse of Glory Sect before gathering for a final push, destroying Glory Sect once and for all.
These were evil men whose hearts had already been twisted long before. They lived to kill and murder. Towards Grandmaster Han’s change of heart, they were excited beyond words.
In their world right now, only a single word existed.
Kill. Kill. KILL!
Anyone who dissented? Kill.
Anyone who resisted? Kill.
Just killing everyone in their way.
Killing was the way to power.
The skies were crackling and rumbling with flashes of lightning right now. With the void ripping apart continuously, everything looked ominous, as if doomsday were approaching.
The energy grids of Heaven and Earth were changing right now as well, seeming about to crumble.
In the sky right now, the Senior Elders of Glory Sect and Jiuxiao Sect were engaged in a fierce battle. This massive amount of energy and power was causing an endless number of shockwaves. It was so devastating that the Heavens could barely withstand their powers.
A fight between two greater celestial full cultivation beings might not amount to much, but a fight between dozens of greater celestial full cultivation beings while making use of the energy grid lines was enough to almost destroy the entire world.
“So…strong! Is this the power of beings who could comprehend and utilize the energy grid lines?” Mie Qiongqi squinted his eyes and looked over. To a genius like him, the existence of energy grid lines was no secret at all. Even though he was astounded by the ferocity of the battles before him, it was not to a state where he was entirely stumped. After all, he knew in his heart that he would reach this state one day as well.
However, the sight before them was totally foreign to some disciples. Ever since they entered the sect, they hadn’t even seen a single fight between two greater celestial beings. To them, this was no longer a battle between humans, but a battle between Gods.
Within the voids, the energy grid line chains turned and spun non-stop. Like a coiling dragon, they disappeared into the voids in an instant and reappeared brightly in the next instance.
Suddenly, the skies reverberated. Within the void, a bright flash of light appeared, slashing the void thinly apart. The energy current within it began to swirl rapidly like a tornado, threatening to suck everything within.
Like a meteor, a figure shot down rapidly from the skies.
“That’s…Senior Elder Wuya!” Focusing their gazes, Zhang Ergou and the others were taken aback completely.
Senior Elder Wuya’s body crashed right before their very eyes. His body was stained with blood, and his breathing was feeble. That usual healthy face of his was now ghastly pale.
“Elder…!” Zhang Ergou and the others dashed forward to help Wuya up.
“Grandmaster, Han Yongyi has descended down the dark path. He’s way too strong now!” Senior Elder Wuya spat out a few mouthfuls of fresh blood. His body had a few more wounds on him. He must have sustained these injuries during the fight up in the skies.
Yan Hongyu was frowning as his face was extremely stern right now. Even his Junior Brother Wuya has been defeated. Just how strong was this Han Yongyi?
Junior Brother Wuya’s strength wasn’t too far off from his. To think that even he had fallen to Han Yongyi’s hands. Now that he was bearing a large injury, he most likely wouldn’t be Han Yongyi’s match either.
Han Yongyi floated menacingly in the air right now. He wasn’t too bothered with the surrounding battles. His gaze was fixated right below.
That bloodthirsty and demonic gaze sent shivers down the spine of every single Glory Sect disciple.
“Protect the Grandmaster and Elder!” Zong Hentian roared as he stood in front of Grandmaster Yan and Senior Elder Wuya without a single fear.
“HAHA!” Han Yongyi laughed manically. His eyes shone with murderous intent as he was covered in a black aura, howling like a dragon of darkness.
“You can go and die!” Han Yongyi growled in wrath as he sent a mighty palm strike down from the skies.
The palm strike was filled with devastating force, so frightening that it left everyone feeling desolate.
“HAHAHAHA!” Han Yongyi continued laughing in a frenzy.
“Grandmaster…!” All of the Senior Elders in the skies expressed a look of concern. But with a powerful enemy on each of their toes, none of them could leave their current positions!
The outcome looked to be determined. There was no way out of this.
Suddenly, Mie Qiongqi roared in fury. His muscles expanded rapidly, and his aura burst out into the skies. Darting forward, he received the blow by himself.
‘Unkillable Indestructible…!’ Mie Qiongqi screamed in pain, his blood spraying out everywhere. The cataclysmic power of this blow was so immense that Mie Qiongqi’s True Energy within his body was in a state of chaos. The boost to his body from Unkillable Indestructible was the only reason he was even able to barely hang on alive right now.
“So what if you’re a greater celestial…? I, Mie Qiongqi, shall slay the Heavens today…!” Incensed, his scream was filled with boundless hatred and hunger for battle.
“We’ll assist you…!” Suddenly, all the geniuses within Glory Sect leaped up without a single bit of fear.
Omg please let nothing happen to any of them. Not anyone from Saint Devil Sect, not even Grandmaster Yan or Wuya. Please gosh.
By the way, in the author’s raw notes, he mentioned that he cried thinking to his own ending of this story that will come in X-months time. In his words, this book is filled with people who will fight and grow with him. But gosh doesnt that just mean we’ll have more people we care about being killed off? D:

‘Heaven Slaying Sword!’
‘Descent of the War Diety!’
‘Palm of Buddha’s Land!’
‘Power of the Heavens and Earth!’
One by one, Meng Hao, Jian Wudi, Lu Yan, Zong Hentian and Mie Qiongqi unleashed their strongest blows to deflect that descending palm strike from the sky.
“How can I allow my junior brothers to face this alone? Even if I were to lose it all today, I, Zhang Ergou, have to assist them!” Zhang Ergou’s blood was pumping with adrenaline. Flicking his robes, all sorts of f*cked up pills flew up towards the sky as well.
However, the moment these pills came into contact with Han Yongyi’s powerful aura, they dissipated into nothingness, leaving zero impact.
Towards this, Zhang Ergou could only sigh helplessly.
“Seems like I’m just too trash after all.” Zhang Ergou was a little forlorn. To think that these pills he had cultivated with his heart and soul would just disappear into nothing before even coming into contact with the enemy. He was pretty disappointed indeed.
However, looking at the look of respect from the other junior brothers around him, Zhang Ergou was secretly glad as well. Looking at the distance, he couldn’t help but worry. His Junior Brother Mie was about to head into a treacherous situation after all.
“What are you guys here for? I can do it alone!” Mie Qiongqi had a strong ego. Looking at these people who had leaped forth to lend a hand, he was somewhat displeased.
“Senior Brother Mie, now that the sect’s in danger, we can’t allow you to steal all the glory to yourself!” Meng Hao forced out a smile on his face.
“What are we still chattering on about! The enemy ahead is already hard enough to deal with!” Jian Wudi seemed to be gliding through the sky as his eyes were focused forward.
‘All of you are my stepping stones! I won’t allow you to die right here!” Lu Yan said proudly.
“Good guts, junior brothers, good guts.” Taking a glance, Mie Qiongqi laughed coldly as well.
“Hmph. A small bunch of clowns and they dare to vie for light against a brightly shining moon like me?” In the skies, Han Yongyi’s face was filled with disdain, ‘I’ll show you that it’s courting death for a bunch of ants to dare to fight against the Heavens!”
“Hmph, even though I may be at a lesser celestial full cultivation base right now, I, Mie Qiongqi, shall see just how strong a greater celestial is then!”
With a maddened roar, Unkillable Indestructible began to churn furiously as a devastating aura began to be emitted. An illusion of an ancient figure appeared behind Mie Qiongqi momentarily as well. With a maddened growl, it sent out boundless amount of energy as well.
“Duel the Heavens and Destroy the Earth!”
Jian Wudi’s sword style was bent on destroying the Heavens and Earth, as his immense Sword Will took on the form of an elderly man, who dashed up towards the skies.
Lu Yan shouted out. His body gleamed brightly as a figure of a Buddha sitting cross-legged with his palms closed together flew towards the strike, while chanting mysterious scriptures.
The sight of this seemingly unstoppable palm strike being stopped was enough to have the Glory Sect disciples watching in amazement.
Despite his serious injuries, Yan Hongyu let out a smile inside his heart. ‘Power be to Glory Sect indeed.’ Now that Glory Sect possessed so many geniuses within their midst, there was no way it should go down just like this.
“Hmph, trash…!” Han Yongyi snorted coldly in the skies. Suddenly, thunder started rumbling as the power level of the palm strike increased as well.
A sudden explosion appeared as Lu Yan’s Buddha figure started breaking apart, and he spat out a mouthful of fresh blood. As for Jian Wudi’s Sword Will, it started twisting and contorting until it turned into ashes as well.
“So…strong…!” Everyone was aghast as they exclaimed. The power level of someone in the realm of a greater celestial full cultivation was seriously way too strong, wasn’t it?!?
There was simply no room for resistance!
In the face of true power, even these geniuses were rendered helpless.
“I’ll fight you till the bitter end! Ancient Destruction!” Only one was left defending against the palm strike. Blood was gushing out from all parts of Mie Qiongqi’s body as he screamed. With that, his aura grew even stronger. It was as if that ancient illusory figure behind him was bent on surpassing everything in this world in acknowledgment of its eternity.
“Interesting fella indeed. What a pity that the skills are wasted on someone like you.” With another snort of contempt, Han Yongyi set loose yet another burst of energy.
“Urgh…!!!” With the increase of power once more, Mie Qiongqi could not stop spitting out blood. The ancient figure started to disintegrate as well. In the face of absolute power, even heaven-defying skills were no match for it.
“Junior Brother…!” Zhang Ergou shouted out worriedly as he rushed forth to help up his fallen junior brother.
Usually cold and nonchalant to everything else, Mie Qiongqi’s eyes were darting nonstop right now, as though he could break apart at any moment. “Senior Brother, I’ve tried…my best…I didn’t lose…Saint Devil Sect’s…face…”
‘Junior brother, don’t speak anymore! Please! You’ve been strong for all of us! Even if Master were here right now, he wouldn’t blame you at all! Not in the least bit!” Looking at Mie Qiongqi’s current state, tears flowed down uncontrollably from Zhang Ergou’s face. Even though this junior brother might have been pretty cold usually, he was still respectful when he needed to be.
“No…Master tasked me to…protect Saint Devil Sect…Even if…I…die…I mustn’t let…Master down!!!’ At the end of his sentence, those feeble eyes of Mie Qiongqi reignited with passion once more. The dissipated energy from his body erupted out as well.
“Junior Brother!” Looking at Mie Qiongqi, Zhang Ergou exclaimed out in shock.
Floating up into the skies again, Mie Qiongqi reared his head back and screamed, “I shall protect Saint Devil Sect down to the last drop of my blood! No one shall dare to invade us! Ever!”
“Junior Brother, enough! It’s enough! Please don’t go anymore! You’ll die!” Zhang Ergou yelled after Mie Qiongqi.
“NO! DOWN TILL MY LAST DROP OF BLOOD! I MUST ENSURE SAINT DEVIL SECT’S SAFETY!” Mie Qiongqi’s determination was burning at its peak right now.
“Destruction of Worlds!” Mie Qiongqi bellowed. The True Energy within his body spiked up massively. Spraying in all directions, his blood painted the entire ground.
“Hmph. A creature who doesn’t fear death indeed.” Han Yongyi chuckled coldly. He sent out another palm strike. Just from the feel of it, this palm strike was way more intense than the previous one.
“Even if my spirit and soul shall shatter, I’ll die for Saint Devil Sect’s safety!” At this point, Mie Qiongqi emanated an aura he had never felt before. This was energy that was borrowed from the void.
‘Chances of survival: 5.15%. No plan available other than the reserved one.’ Zero’s reply made Angele lose all hope.
Angele wasn’t surprised at the result, but it seemed as if he would have to use the reserved plan as his last resort. He had plans on increasing his growth speed using the special energy, also deciding to save the energy for future research. However, he probably had to use it now, otherwise, he would just have himself killed here. Angele wanted to at least slow them down.
‘Commence the plan,’ Angele said. He was lying on the ground and staring at the sky. Several clouds moved slowly and a black bird flew over while chirping.
‘The sky looks like a pure gem…’ Angele thought.
‘Wait, gem?’ Angele stopped thinking for a second as he remembered the magical word.
“Manss!” Angele didn’t think too much and yelled out the word.
Suddenly, intense green light covered him and made him look like a shining sun – a scene strange enough for one to witness.
“Enchanted item! Back off!” The two bandits looked surprised that they even backed off right away. It was as though they had seen something horrifying.
Time ceased its incessant passing as everything turned black and white. The bandit was frozen in his motion with one of his feet still in the air. The leaves that were falling off the tree hadn’t reached the ground. One mounted bandit was still aiming his crossbow at Angele. The golden sunlight turned into a black and white flash. No sounds could be heard, and even then, the wind that should’ve been blowing came to a halt.
Angele laid on the ground quietly. Green light perpetually emanated out of his body. Everything around him had come to a stop, such that the only thing in motion was nothing. Angele could somewhat smell something fishy, reminding him of the smell of the sea. He felt his body being covered by gentle wind.
‘Warning! Warning! Radiation is infecting your body. Stored energy is being consumed quickly… 10%, 9%, 8%, 7%…’ Zero kept reporting. Angele finally realized that he was still alive, and then he stood up quickly. Successive ripples flowing like the waves of the sea was the current state of the green light on his body. Then, he walked toward the two bandits.
Suddenly, the monochromatic state of black and white returned to its former hue, and even the movements of all things returned. The footsteps of the bandits, the noise of wind blowing through the trees, and the chirping of birds – all came back like nothing happened. The green light dissipated from Angele’s body, and the world was once again dyed in its original color.
The two bandits were still retreating, but their heads suddenly dropped to the ground and rolled backward. Blood spurted out of their necks, and the remains of their existence dropped to the ground.
“That was the power of… wizards?” Angele was completely dumbstruck and he couldn’t believe what he just did. He looked at the two decapitated heads that had their eyes still open.
‘Energy level reduced to zero.’ Zero reported. Angele thought for a moment that he’d only been dreaming however fleeting of a moment it was. Still, he lowered his body quickly, evading three crossbow bolts that flew over his head. He retrieved his daggers and threw it toward the remaining mounted bandits. One of the mounted bandits screamed in response to being struck while the other three fled on their horses with fear in tow.
Angele looted the money pouch on the two dead bandits and headed back to the caravan. He felt his body paralyzed, unable to feel pain from all the wounds he had. However, he felt pain coming constantly from his brain. His vision was already too blurry, yet he ran onward to the direction of the caravan to return.
Angele thought that the power he wielded was different to the one he had before, but he was more confounded at the fact that time had been frozen still. The power was too great and mysterious that it made him feel more fearful. He kept on running, uncertain of how much time had passed. Finally, from Angele’s hazy vision, he saw someone he was familiar with.
“Angele! God!” The baron’s voice was shaky.
Angele saw the surprised expression of the baron after he slumped on the latter’s arms. The baron looked very nervous, and even people around them were screaming. Angele felt the pain in his brain getting worse. He saw his own reflection in the baron’s eyes.
Blood was coming out of Angele’s orifices. His face was pale, eyes unfocused. The chip was sending information to him, but he could only hear nothing. The pain coming from his brain hindered him from thinking.
Fifteen days later.
In the endless plain, three black carriages were slowly advancing through the grass like ants. The wind was blowing across like the billowing waves of the sea. In the carriage at the forefront, a teenager with brown hair was looking outside the window. His body was covered with gray bandages and his face looked pale.
“Angele, are you feeling any better?” A man asked with a deep voice.
“Much better, Father. I think I will fully recover shortly.” Angele nodded and said.
“That’s good. Next time, I am not letting you fight alone.” The baron looked relieved as he said this.
Angele smiled with mixed feelings. It had been 15 days since they left the forest. He was in a coma for two days, but he slowly awakened. According to the chip, his muscle was badly injured, and he lost a lot of blood. The bone in his both arms were fractured, and also had moderate concussion and stroke.
People in this world had general better physiques than the ones on Earth. It only took Angele 15 days to recover from such injury, instead of taking at least two months in the hospital on Earth. He was recovering very fast with the fruits of his daily training giving him assistance. Angele put his hand on the edge of the window and looked at the beautiful scenery. Although in reality, he was checking some information on the chip. He spent a long time trying to find out what actually happened that day.
He had a general idea about the situation. The ring was found on Dice’s body, but he never used it before he died. If he had used the energy, Angele would’ve been dead for sure. He spent several days on analyzing the energy consumption and compared it to the moderate use he did before. Angele finally understood why Dice did not activate the ring.
‘The radiation energy can only be used if the owner already has a certain amount of similar energy in the body, and it could only be activated using the command. The first time, the ring only brought some green light and agility enhancement, but it was nothing like that after. I guess the ring must have some sort of system to limit its power output.’ Angele thought.
Angele used the radiation power to increase his attribute, and his chip helped him store a certain amount of the power in his body, which fitted the condition for using the ring. The chip extracted all the power and broke the limitation set on the ring. That day, he successfully activated the power by yelling the proper command. The radiation power was released from the chip in full and consumed it all. The result was strong but horrifying.
‘Dice probably had only obtained it recently, or else he could’ve used the power before he died. Obviously, he could not activate it himself, so he kept it with him to store some radiation power into his body to fulfill the requirement of utilizing the ring.’ Angele guessed.
‘I finally understand why Dice didn’t use the ring. The horrifying power damaged my muscle that day, probably due to the freezing of time. My speed was boosted to an impossible level, making me faster than time itself. Why did everything become black and white though? Maybe it was the radiation that changed the color around.’ The carriage was moving slowly with Angele still making conjectures.
‘Zero, show me the light spectrum that day.’ Angele ordered.
‘The color of the sunlight was removed by the radiation energy, leaving nothing but white. The shadows remained black, so you could only see black and white.’ Zero reported and showed a graph of light spectrum to him. The columns on the graph kept changing to demonstrate the changes during that time.
‘Why were there green lights on my body?’ Angele asked.
‘You were the source of those lights.’ Zero reported. It could analyze Angele’s questions quickly, so it instantly sent the conclusions to him.
Angele nodded his head slowly, finally having a general idea of the power. However, he used up the stored radiation energy.
‘If the chip did not extract the energy, I wouldn’t be able to use the ring myself. It requires the owner to have the similar energy as the ring, which means the owner must be a source of such energy already. People with such energy must be the Wizards.’ Angele thought as he grabbed the ring on his necklace.
‘It’s most likely the case that the ring can only be activated by wizards. The two bandits spoke of it being an enchanted item. It might be the name for treasures such as this.’ Angele looked at the ring carefully while using his finger to rub the emerald gently. Chapter 30: Sequela (1)
Translator: Leo Editor: DarkGem/Frappe
Angele played with the emerald ring for a while and tied it back to his necklace. He tried to hide the whole thing inside his clothes. The carriages were moving forward ever so slowly, constantly bumping by the small stones on the road.
The baron sat opposite to Angele in the leading carriage while holding a black canteen full of wine.
“It’s nice that we found a river to wash ourselves and our clothes. Otherwise, the whole caravan would not smell good.” The baron drank some wine from the canteen and laughed after.
“Our water supply is still limited. It would be lucky for us if we could find another river in ten days. I can now smell the sweat from everyone the caravan.” Angele laughed too.
“Well, according to the map, we are already on a shortcut to another river.” The baron tried his best to find the best route. Angele looked at his father’s tired face. The baron was still strong, but the wounds and the sequela were affecting his mental state. He had lost everything and all his friends had betrayed him not so long ago.
Angele sighed. He knew Knight Audis’s betrayal was a big shock to the baron, but there wasn’t much he could do. Only time could heal the baron’s broken heart.
“Father, I am going to check the other carriages.” Angele said with a light tone.
“Sure, just don’t do any intense activities.” The baron nodded before saying. Angele nodded in response and looked at the baron’s face for a second. He opened the door and jumped off the carriage.
The sunlight poured into the carriage after Angele opened the door, making the baron’s hair look darker than before. He was looking at somewhere far outside the window as though he was reminiscing about the past. Angele somehow felt a bit sad after looking at his father, so he just walked towards the second carriage quickly.
“Hi, Young Master Angele.” One of the guards greeted.
“Want some fresh air, eh?” Another one greeted him. Angele liked those guards more than the post knights and he trusted them more. Angele nodded and smiled before jumping onto the second carriage. Maggie’s mother, Mrs. Jacklyn, was driving the carriage. This middle-aged woman was not attractive anymore, and Angele could see the wrinkles over her face. She looked like any other women in their mid-forties.
In The Dragon Ball Universe With The Summoning System “Young Master Angele, you are here.” Mrs. Jacklyn smiled and greeted.
“Yea, are they ready?” Angele opened the door and asked.
“I heard they’re prepared.” Mrs. Jacklyn answered.
“Good.” Angele nodded and got inside the carriage.
The carriage was big, about the size of a large RV on Earth. It was like a large bedroom. Maggie, Celia and seven other people – 10 in total including Mrs. Jacklyn – could easily stay in the carriage together.
Angele had been surprised when he first saw one of those carriages, but he understood the reason when he realized that the size of a horse here was twice that of the ones on Earth. In the carriage, Maggie and Celia were organizing plucked flowers in the corner. They also caught insects and picked up fruits on the way. Those insects and fruits were piled up at the corner, emphasizing their colorful features. As Angele glanced around, he also saw other people sitting in other corners.
Besides Maggie and Celia, there were Maggie’s father, Celia’s mother, and three other children of the baron: two boys and one girl. The children were playing with some ants. A pharmacist named Henry was also on the carriage sleeping with a tired face. Cecilia, who was covered with a blanket, was sleeping as well in the corner.
The three children were Angele’s brothers and sister, but they lowered their heads to greet when they saw Angele going in. I still love you dear brother-in-law It was their show of respect to him, especially when they were made aware of how strong Angele was after the recent events.
“Angele!” Celia and Maggie put down the purple roots in their hands and came over to greet him.
“How’s the collection going?” Angele had a glance on the random things in the corner.
“As you ordered, we collected hundreds of different plants and insects these days. Everything is here besides the toxic ones.” Maggie proudly answered before Celia could even talk.
“You two did a great job.” Angele kneaded Maggie’s butt and also kissed Celia on her lips after praising the two of them. He didn’t care what the spectators would think anyway.
“You two can take a good rest now.” Angele put those plants and insects into a larger bag. He then jumped off the carriage and got into the last one. The last carriage’s coachman was Captain Mark, but no one else was in it. It was carrying all the supplies, such as food and water.
“Did my father come by recently? With Miss Katyusha?” Angele asked.
“The baron looked depressed recently, and Young Master, you should talk to him about it if you got time.” Mark shook his head and said. Angele nodded. Miss Katyusha was the mother of Celia; she was wise and sexy. There were many beautiful ladies in the castle, but only she chose to stay with the baron when the baron asked this time. The baron began to like her more after that, and they even had some good time in the third carriage on the way. After Angele became injured last time, the baron barely came to the third carriage with her.
“Father is a bit stressed recently. Don’t worry, he will get himself together.” Angele said.
“Yea…” Mark sighed and stopped talking after. Angele opened the door and got into the carriage. Besides the supplies, there was an empty space in the middle. Angele sat down by a wooden box and put down the bag in his hand. He took some purple leaves out of the bag and put them into his mouth. Angele’s face scrunched after chewing those leaves since it didn’t taste quite well. He looked disappointed after a while as he spat everything out on a piece of cloth he prepared earlier. Angele then grabbed a large green caterpillar that looked exactly like the ones on the earth, but it had two heads. It looked like a forked branch, but with its heads moving around in Angele’s heads and it having a lot of wrinkles on its skin, it looked very unappetizing.
Angele felt a bit sick. He applied a bit of strength on the caterpillar. The caterpillar died in a second and some of its green juice oozed out of its body. Angele dipped his finger in the juice and put it into his mouth.
“Crap!” Angele’s eyebrows scrunched, still looking disappointed. He kept trying different plants and insects, and it took him a while to empty the bag.
“Found two useful ones.” Angele said with a light tone. He put some black tree berries back into the bag and some triangle leaves as well.
He discovered about twenty different things that could increase his attributes, and he tried about thousands of different plants and insects. 4 out of 20 had no side-effects while the others all had something that would make Angele sick, so he only took the 4 with him. However, all the information was still stored in the chip including the useless ones. He merely wanted to keep adding things to his database that might be useful to him later on.
He spat out the remaining of the things he tried on a piece of cloth beside him, and dumped all of them onto the ground outside after.
‘How much information was recorded, Zero?’ Angele asked.
‘About 2341 types of plants, 49 types of insects, 21 types of animal tissues.’ Zero reported precisely.
“That’s a lot…” Angele took a deep breath and started thinking.
“Angele? Are you there?” Maggie’s voice came from outside.
“Come in.” Angele stopped thinking and said. A girl got inside the carriage quickly. Maggie’s body looked very attractive for her age, and yet only she was about 13 years old. Angele thought she looked like an 18-year-old girl on the earth. Additionally, she had decent sized breasts, attractive butt, and a slim waist. She was only wearing a gray one-piece and a pair of boots, but she still managed to show off what she was proud of. Her legs were fair and they looked shiny under the sunlight.
“Angele, I am here to change my clothes.” Maggie’s voice was very faint as she stood in front of Angele.
“Changing your clothes?” He whispered beside Maggie’s ear. Angele felt a bit aroused, but he still asked Maggie to sit in front of him.
“Yea… Changing my… underwear… if you are asking.” Maggie was blushing. Obviously, she wanted something else. Angele touched her long hair around her shoulder and smelled the fragrance on her.
“I will leave you here then.” Angele smiled and said in a light tone.
“Could you… do it for me?” Maggie shook her head, her expression very bashful. Chapter 31: Sequela (2)
Translator: Leo Editor: DarkGem/Frappe
Two months later. Somewhere in the endless Anser Plain.
Three black carriages with an insignia of an “eagle around thorns” engraved on both sides were moving slowly against the wind. The sun was in its highest as it was midday. Billowing clouds were obscuring the sky and even deterring the sunlight from pouring down the earth. Blustery was the wind that was blowing all over the grass throughout.
Angele was sitting in the leading carriage looking outside the window. It was as though he was thinking of something. He used the plants and insects he had collected to slowly boost his attributes, but the sequela from his last injury brought him inconvenience. Though his body was strengthening according to the data, his limbs sprained several times during recent practices. The doctor informed him that he had osteoporosis after check-up and would take about a month for him to recover.
Angele, who was wearing a black hunting suit, sat by the window of the carriage. He was learning to distinguish different sounds from the outside and catch the crucial information from the noises through the chip’s assistance. He foresaw many possible bandit attacks, which helped their caravan to tread upon a safer path.
They encountered several bandit groups, both big and small, but most of them were cleared by the baron. Larger bandit groups were all avoided because of the warnings given by Angele.
About five or six encounters with the bandits went terribly bad. In one of these encounters, one of Angele’s brothers took an arrow to his neck and died right away. That was the worst experience they had. During that fight, the bandits were robbing a noble convoy. They had mounted archers, and they were quite agile and proficient in executing the orders of their leader. Angele also took an arrow to himself as he witnessed the knights of the noble convoy being slain in an onslaught of countless arrows.
The knights had attempted to charge forward, but many of them died from the shower of arrows. Several guards in the noble convoy burst out their potential in the final exchange, successfully driving away the bandits. Angele’s caravan could’ve been wiped off the face of the earth if they were the ones targeted by those bandits.
On the way, Angele’s caravan passed by many remnants of battlefields that were full of corpses. He could imagine just how intense the fights were. The baron also saw the corpse of someone he once knew, a grand knight from the capital city. The people in their caravan had become very scared after seeing those gruesome scenes, but after about ten days, they finally calmed down,
Angele finally grasped the gist on how strong he actually was in this world. In the best fight he had, Angele slew 28 bandits with his bow and arrows and his sword all by himself. It was an impressive feat, but he still couldn’t deal with mounted archers. He killed about 15 bandits in the fight that also had mounted archers in their ranks. He kept doing damage to them until he took an arrow to his right arm. The mounted bandits were very fast and agile as they kept on dodging the arrows upon the horses, making Angele use all of his arrows. Angele wouldn’t have secured so many kills without the help of the chip.
They had also been attacked by soldiers masquerading as bandits. The leader of those soldiers was a knight, and he shot multiple arrows that took out eight guards in the baron’s caravan. He, however, was still slain with the coordinated attacks of the baron and Angele.
‘Knights in this world are like the generals in ancient China. Just one of them can deal with hundreds of regular soldiers, though they still need good equipments. Without it, they are weak and they cannot deal with great numbers of ranged weapons.’ Angele thought as he had now a better idea of knight-level warriors.
‘Well, basically, knights are strong people with better fighting skills. However, I am still not the best.’ Angele concluded, thinking that he wouldn’t be able to contribute to anything in a real war.
Next Chapter The crowd felt disbelief upon seeing the abnormal sign that hid the sky and covered the earth.
However, as the abnormal sign continued to hang in the sky, they soon had no choice but to believe it to be real.
Even though they were still shaken by it, the shock in their hearts was gradually suppressed.
They began to stop pondering why the abnormal sign would appear to focus on the circumstances within the Purple Star Variance Realm.
Soon, the crowd discovered that the person that mysterious blue-gowned old man was boasting about the entire time, Chu Feng, was not in the Purple Star Variance Realm at all.
In fact, not even the Chu Heavenly Clan was present in the Purple Star Variance Realm.
This made the crowd feel very puzzled.
My 100-Day Secret Marriage With The Boss Could it be that the Chu Heavenly Clan had not entered the Purple Star Variance Realm?
At the time when the crowd were confused, the upper echelon of the Purple Star Realm gave permission, and the people from the Purple Star Realm began to mention what had happened to the Chu Heavenly Clan.
Upon learning that the Chu Heavenly Clan had escaped from the Purple Star Variance Realm immediately after they encountered dangers, and that Chu Feng had pretended to be ill and never once showed himself, the crowd’s impression of Chu Feng fell enormously.
The Chu Heavenly Clan and Chu Feng soon became the target of the crowd’s criticism.
Even that blue-gowned old man who had proclaimed that Chu Feng was an extraordinary genius was being verbally attacked by the crowd.
The crowd felt that the blue-gowned old man was deliberately deceiving them.
They felt that Chu Feng was no genius at all, and the Chu Heavenly Clan was out-and-out trash.
It had been over a dozen days since the ten overlord powers entered the Purple Star Variance Realm.
It had been over twenty days since Chu Feng lost consciousness.
Finally, Chu Feng gradually regained his consciousness.
When he regained consciousness, the poisonous substance that had been affecting him disappeared completely, and his mental state was even better than before the poison flared up.
Furthermore, there was even a look of joy on Chu Feng’s face.
‘Truly never would I have expected to actually profit from a disaster,’ Chu Feng gasped in his heart.
He had indeed profited from a disaster.
When Chu Feng was first being tormented by the poisonous substance, he was unable to handle it because of how intense the poison was, so much so that he’d ended up losing consciousness.
During that period of time, Chu Feng lost his connection with everyone around him. Pain was the only sensation he felt.
However, later on, the world spiritist bloodline within him actually emerged to protect him. His bloodline began to fight the poison.
The confrontation between his bloodline power and the poisonous substance was intense, but not only did it not endanger Chu Feng’s life, but it instead slightly suppressed the poisonous substance’s power.
That said, the poisonous substance was simply too powerful. Acting on its own, while his bloodline power was able to suppress the poisonous substance, the effect was not particularly good.
That said, it still managed to allow him to gradually regain consciousness.
When Chu Feng realized that his world spiritist bloodline was able to take on the poisonous substance, he began to control his world spiritist bloodline to contend against it. He wanted to suppress the poisonous substance completely.
Nii-chan is The Best During this period of time, a strange thing happened.
Chu Feng felt that special existence again.
That existence was concealed deep in Chu Feng’s spirit world.
He had only sensed it when he’d broken through to Dragon Mark Saint-cloak World Spiritist.
That existence had the appearance of a dragon. Yet, it was not a dragon. It emitted a very sacred aura, and contained enormous power.
Most importantly, Chu Feng felt an enormous enticement from it.
When Chu Feng had first discovered it, he had wanted to link up with it. Yet, he was immediately attacked and was nearly paralyzed the moment he had touched it with his spirit power.
Ever since that happened, Chu Feng no longer dared to attempt to sense it, much less connect with it.
He never would’ve expected that mysterious existence to suddenly appear while he was controlling his bloodline to suppress the poisonous substance.
This brought great panic to Chu Feng.
However, a scene that surprised Chu Feng occurred.
That mysterious existence no longer only appeared faintly discernible, but instead approached Chu Feng of its own accord. Furthermore, it no longer had any hostility, and was instead filled with goodwill.
Because of that, Chu Feng realized that the mysterious existence could very possibly be planning to help him.
With that, Chu Feng decided to take a risk.
He decided to attempt to link up with the mysterious existence again.
Surprisingly, the attempt was a smooth success. He really managed to link up with that mysterious existence.
With the help of that mysterious existence, Chu Feng began to suppress the poisonous substance completely.
When the poisonous substance was completely suppressed, the mysterious existence actually fused with Chu Feng and became a part of his world spiritist bloodline.
When Chu Feng fully regained consciousness, he was able to sense how powerful that mysterious existence was.
That mysterious existence not only aided him in suppressing the poisonous substance, but it had also strengthened his entire body.
Ordinary Dragon Mark Saint-cloak World Spiritists only had a battle power on par with a rank one Utmost Exalted.
However, Chu Feng now possessed battle power on par with a rank two Utmost Exalted.
Adding on the Nine Dragons Saint Cloak and his bloodline power, Chu Feng’s world spirit techniques now possessed a battle power on par with a rank four Utmost Exalted.
The reason for this change was all because Chu Feng had assimilated with that mysterious power.
But, if it wasn’t for the poisonous substance torturing him that caused his bloodline power to protect him autonomously, then perhaps the mysterious power would not have come to his aid at the crucial time.
In turn, it would’ve been impossible for him to gain control over that mysterious power in such a short period of time.
“What’s going on?!”
However, right after Chu Feng regained consciousness, he immediately closed his eyes again.
The reason for that was because he sensed the existence of that mysterious power again.
Like the time when he first discovered it, that mysterious existence was still very imposing and divine, so filled with mysteriousness and only faintly discernible, like it could disappear at any moment.
“What’s happening? I’ve clearly grasped it. I’ve clearly fused with that power. Why would it suddenly appear here? Could I have failed? Could it have escaped from my body?” Chu Feng had a scare.
He thought that he had failed to grasp that power.
However, he soon discovered that the power he had grasped and assimilated was still inside his body.
But, since that mysterious power had assimilated with him, what was the mysterious power that appeared now?
“Wait, this mysterious existence is many times more powerful than the one I’ve assimilated with.”
“Even its shape is different. It’s more immense than the one I assimilated with.”
“Could this be a completely new power?”
“If that’s really the case, then if I’m able to assimilate with this new power, wouldn’t it mean that my battle power will increase again?”
“Could this be the true power of Dragon Mark Saint-cloak World Spiritists?”
“The battle power of Dragon Mark Saint-cloak World Spiritists is not confined to being on par to a rank one Utmost Exalted at all. Instead, they’re able to gain even stronger power?”
When this thought came to his mind, Chu Feng began to carefully examine things.
Finally, Chu Feng confirmed his guess.
This made him extremely excited.
Naturally, he wanted to grasp this even stronger power.
The battle power of his world spirit techniques had increased after he had grasped a single mysterious power.
Chu Feng wanted to know how far his world spirit techniques’ battle power would increase should he grasp another mysterious power.
Even though Chu Feng had reached a bottleneck in terms of his martial power, and was unable to make a breakthrough, he would be equally happy should he be able to increase his world spirit techniques’ battle power.
Faced with such enticement, Chu Feng decided to act.
Using his spirit power, he carefully attempted to connect with that mysterious power.
Furthermore, after experiencing the lesson from the first time around and the experience from assimilating with the mysterious power, Chu Feng felt that his bloodline power might possess great attraction toward the mysterious power.
As such, Chu Feng not only released his spirit power, but he also integrated his bloodline power into his spirit power. Using that, he attempted to connect with the even more powerful mysterious power.
Yet, Chu Feng was attacked the moment he came in contact with it.
Not only did he find his entire body feeling paralyzed, but even his soul was attacked.
At that instant, Chu Feng felt that he had touched the fringe of death.
Due to things being too painful, Chu Feng even let out a scream of pain.
The impact of the attack this time around was much fiercer than last time.
It was so strong that Chu Feng lost consciousness…
After a long time passed, Chu Feng gradually regained consciousness.
When he regained consciousness, a familiar voice sounded by his ears.
“Chu Feng, what happened?”
“Are you alright?”
Chu Feng immediately opened his eyes when he heard that voice.
That was when he discovered that he was lying inside a bedroom, and Chu Hanpeng was standing before him, looking at him nervously.
“Lord Supreme Elder, I’m fine,” said Chu Feng.
“You’re fine now? That’s great! Chu Feng, you’ve finally woken up.” The cold and detached Chu Hanpeng was actually weeping.
“Lord Supreme Elder, don’t cry. Didn’t I wake up?” Chu Feng comforted him.
“Right, I’ll stop crying. I’m too old, I’ve grown useless.” Chu Hanpeng wiped his tears away and forced a smile.
Perhaps even he didn’t know how enormous of a pressure he was under during this period of time.
The wind affinity came from the ring, but it seemed that he was born with fire affinity and the strongest spell he could cast was in the Fire category.
‘So the Mask of Black Wing will be able to buff my spells from time to time, and as an advanced meditation technique, it can help me increase my affinity with one of the four energy particles.’
Angele had already noticed where the problem lay.
The forcefield from the Metal Mastery could help him both defensively and offensively during a battle. He thought that this Talent Spell was powerful but using it was hard in a practical sense. The spells that focused on either offense or defense were stronger than the forcefield he had.
The metal skills only helped him initiate a battle and protect his body. The illusion signet was the deciding factor in the outcome of the battles.
Angele did not think too much about the affinity with the energy particles but then the situation changed.
He was not born with the metal affinity but came from the Metal Mastery. It seemed like the power of the forcefield was not as strong as he had initially thought but Zero had modified the Talent Spell to make it stronger. Angele wondered if an average Fire spell would help him more in a fight.
‘Should I increase my fire affinity and stamina using the advanced meditation technique instead?’ Angele rubbed his chin and pursed his lips.
He finally made up his mind after thinking for half an hour. He decided to increase his affinity with the Fire energy particles.
Angele had made the wrong decision while choosing the Talent Spell before, so he decided to be more prudent this time.
He checked the defensive matrix around the house and returned to the center of the potions room.
Angele sat on the floor with his legs crossed and started meditating.
Time flew past.
One hour later.
A thin layer of black smoke appeared on Angele’s face.
The black smoke was moving around, releasing a distorted energy wave.
The smoke became increasingly thicker as time passed.
It then turned into a solidified black mask and covered Angele’s face.
The mask was simple; there was no complicated pattern or rune painted on it.
Another half an hour passed.
Suddenly, a red light dot appeared between his eyebrows.
The red dot turned into a small fireball and it was surrounded by a red glow.
The fire extinguished by itself after about ten minutes.
The black mask broke into countless pieces and slid down Angele’s face.
The broken mask turned into black smoke and vanished into the air before it hit the floor.
Angele opened his eyes and raised his right arm, chanting the incantation of the Lesser Fireball slowly.
Countless red light dots gathered on Angele’s palm like fireflies.
A ball of fire was formed quickly.
The fireball had the size of a human’s head. Several seconds later, the fireball shrank and turned into a walnut-sized red bead floating above the center of Angeles’ right palm.
Angele looked at the modified Lesser Fireball and scanned it using the biochip.
The spell could deal around 40 degrees of damage, but it had already reached its limit.
There was only so much a level 1 spell could do.
However, the amount of damage the spell could deal was increased to 50 degrees after the meditation.
‘So this is the result of increasing my fire affinity?’ Angele finished the analysis and the blue light dots vanished into the air.
‘What about level 2 spells? I’m at the Crystal stage right now. I can learn one level 2 spell, but I don’t have any spell models in my possession. Seems like I must acquire one from the Dark Wizard Tower or from Henn.’ Angele blinked his eyes.
The fire bead turned into countless red light dots and disappeared into the air. The temperature in the room was increased by several degrees Celsius.
‘Do you really think that’s all the black mask can do?’ Henn’s voice echoed in his ears.
‘I thought you were going to have a good rest.’ Angele was surprised.
Henn sneered. ‘I told you already that the Mask of Black Wing is a great advanced meditation technique. This technique has five stages. You have just started the first stage. When you actually complete the first stage, you will acquire a special forcefield just like the one from your Talent Spell, and you can increase an energy affinity again. The next four stages are the same. You’ll be able to increase the affinity of your choice twice at each stage. The higher the stage you’re trained in this meditation technique, the higher your selected affinity will be increased.’
Angele was getting confused.
‘How is that even possible? This advanced meditation technique exceeds my expectation a whole lot now…’ he responded.
‘…You missed the point,’ Henn explained. ‘You’ll reach rank 3 if you can complete the third stage in 300 years and you’ll already be considered a genius. Kid, you need a high mentality level to train in advanced meditation techniques and the technique might increase your chance of advancing to the next rank. That’s the reason why there are more wizards in the central continent than the other areas. The best advanced meditation technique could increase the chance by half!’
‘What? Only half?’
‘What do you know…? The higher a wizard’s rank is, the harder the progression will be. If you fail to advance to the next rank, it will cost you a huge amount of resources to fix your body. Arisma is assisting Stigma right now but I think her meditation technique is at the same level to the one I have given you, unless they decided to use some special methods…But there will be side effects.’
Angele scrunched up his forehead.
‘So you’re saying that the advanced meditation technique will help a wizard progress to the next rank and that’s how wizards in the central continent advance?’
‘Yeah, you’re correct.’ Henn confirmed Angele’s assumption. ‘Wizards in other regions have to waste a significant number of resources but we have a clear direction. That’s the biggest difference.’ Chapter 559: The bloody female wargod’s tears (II)
The Holy War had gone on for close to two years, and both parties’ consumption was very large. Originally, the demon army seemed to be rather more restful, only occasionally launching some symbolic offenses. The Southeastern Fort took advantage of that to rest its troops, but for some reason no one knew, the demon army once again made an all-out offense one week ago, and this attack was even fiercer than the past ones. Immediately, all the powerhouses of the Southeastern Mountain Pass had to join the battlefield, and an unstoppable battle followed then. The whole fort was now full of the stench of blood.
Wang Yuanyuan was still standing on the first row of the battlefield, defending the walls. Compared to the time of the Holy War, her shield and blade had gained a dense layer of blood color. That not only was due to piercing the enemies, but furthermore, it carried a fierce aggressivity, born from countless slaughters.
Wang Yuanyuan’s appearance wasn’t much different from before, but her manners had undergone an earth shattering change; she was extremely cold and steady. Even in the midst of slaughters, her appearance didn’t change at all despite that her whole body was suffused with reeking blood. Even those veterans from the Warrior Temple couldn’t compare with her fierce and ruthless moves.
And Wang Yuanyuan’s cultivation made rapid progress. From the continuous slaughter, she accumulated a large amount of killing intent, and by some unknown method she made continuous breakthroughs thanks to the stimulation of her Gigantic Divine Soul Shield. Now, her cultivation had already exceeded Zhang Fangfang whose breakthrough to the seventh step happened a long time before.
Her dedication moved every higher-up of the Warrior Temple.
Fifth rank of the seventh step: that was the level currently reached by Wang Yuanyuan’s internal spiritual energy. Adding to that the terrifying weapons of slaughter in her hand, she would definitely fully deserve to be called a slaughter god if such an election were to take place. From the start of the Holy War to the current time, she had never missed any battle. At most, she could sometimes remain fighting in the fort’s area for five days and five nights before fainting due to exhausting her physical force and being carried away. After coming back to her senses, she would, regardless of anyone’s obstruction, stand back on the Southeastern Mountain Pass.
By now, Wang Yuanyuan was acclaimed as a hero for the Southeastern Fort since long before, as well as an idol for the overwhelming majority of the warriors.
Zhang Fangfang didn’t have his own Demon Hunt Squad anymore, and had been following Wang Yuanyuan’s side silently all the time. He had tried many times to convince her, and many times jumped in front of her to block the enemies for her sake, yet Wang Yuanyuan had never listened to his persuasion.
At last, Zhang Fangfang’s attitude also came to change gradually. His feelings actually didn’t weaken from seeing her determination, but instead became even stronger. And furthermore, he also started to get influenced by Wang Yuanyuan, changing his ways from a Guardian Knight to a Retribution Knight, achieving his share of frantic kills, although quite slower than Wang Yuanyuan.
At the moment, Zhang Fangfang was standing beside her, his armor covered in multiple colors since long before. The heavy sword he had in one hand was dedicated to killing the enemy, and the shield in his other hand was entirely dedicated to blocking the attacks aimed at Wang Yuanyuan. The two of them were walking their way out of mountains of corpses. If not for the protection of the spiritual stoves at their disposal and the meticulous watch of the Warrior Temple’s higher-ups, who knew how many times they would have already died in the battlefield by now.
Three immense Demonic Bears, who had been catapulted directly to the fortress, went after the two of them, waving large hammers, and met with Wang Yuanyuan’s attacks.
Bang! The first Demonic Bear’s attack met with the parry of Zhang Fangfang’s shield as a second one was met with his heavy sword.
With a stuffy groan, Zhang Fangfang spit some blood. He had already stopped counting the number of times he sustained such wounds, and even started to grow accustomed to it.
In a violent clash, the two Demonic Bears were forced away. Everything Zhang Fangfang did was in order to stall for time for Wang Yuanyuan’s sake.
The Divine Soul Shield smashed the two hammers, and the result that followed conformed with Bloodstorm’s name.
On the fortress, another carnage followed. Even with the Demonic Bears’ great violence, the other two couldn’t help but display some fear at the sight of their partner being cut off by Bloodstorm. In panic, they lost the will to keep advancing as they didn’t dare confront the slaughterer Wang Yuanyuan was.
The Gigantic Divine Soul Shield supported on the ground, Wang Yuanyuan took large gasps for breath. Aiming an almost blood colored look at Zhang Fangfang, he nodded lightly to her.
Zhang Fangfang then forced a smile, “I’m alright. You go take a little break, I will be standing on guard.”
Wang Yuanyuan remained silent. Many times, camaraderie didn’t require words, but engraved feelings.
Right at this time, a golden pillar of light appeared out of nowhere, encompassing Wang Yuanyuan inside. Then came another one landing on Zhang Fangfang.
A dense warmth and very pleasurable light rapidly provided nourishment for their bodies. In the midst of sweet sounds, two golden angels appeared out of nowhere, flapping their sets of six wings, and held Zhang Fangfang and Wang Yuanyuan from behind.
They had already been fighting on the Southeastern Mountain Pass for three days and three nights and were quite tired and wounded. Their spiritual energies were already close to collapse, so this time, these two powerful healing spells were no less than the perfect help they needed. Both their physical force and spiritual energy recovered at astonishing speeds.
Most of all, Zhang Fangfang was greatly shocked to see how pure the golden radiance shining upon Wang Yuanyuan was. Aside from a golden color, that image of angels faintly let out a pure and holy aura. The blood color filling Wang Yuanyuan’s eyes unexpectedly disappeared rapidly on her embrace. Which was to say, she was not only healing her wounds, but furthermore soothing her soul full of murderous spirit. This was the first time Zhang Yuanyuan saw such a use of Angel’s Embrace, healing both the body and the spirit.
Subconsciously, Zhang Fangfang and Wang Yuanyuan raised their head, to see four figures rushing to them from the sky. The two knights in the lot were the users of Angel’s Embrace.
As they landed swiftly on the ground, a large amount of fireballs came out from the Fire Cloud Crystal Staff of the mage clad in fire-red color, getting rid of the demons in a large area be they on the ground or in the skies. These blue fireballs produced a dense smell of charcoal, obviously from the demon soldiers’ scorching.
Some rather stronger ones escaped this fate, including the previous two Demonic Bears that had just escaped from the side, but they all died in the midst of grey flickers of light. Almost within the time of one breath, the portion of the wall assigned to Zhang Fangfang and Wang Yuanyuan became a lot more tranquil.
Han Yu stepped forward, waving his heavy shield, which blocked in front of him. Lin Xin arrived onto his back, without stopping the attacks from his staff in the slightest. The powerful offensive strength of a fire mage came into full display: in front of his powerful magic onslaught, no demons were-for the moment-able to approach them.
“Han Yu, Lin Xin, Cai’er?” Wang Yuanyuan had a hoarse voice, full of disbelief. Ever since the start of the Holy War, this was the first time the hands gripping her weapons trembled.
“Yuanyuan, I’m here too.” From behind the Golden Foundation Armor’s mask came Haochen’s voice.
Clangclang. The weapons on Wang Yuanyuan’s hands were dropped at the same time as her body swayed, on the edge of collapsing, but Zhang Fangfang hastened to support her.
“Boss… Boss, you guys finally came.”
On the Southeastern Fort, Wang Yuanyuan, that tough beyond compare and bloodily attacking bloody war goddess, actually lost control of her feelings and burst into tears.
Long Haochen stepped forward and gave him a vigorous hug without care for the bloodstains on her, “We arrived. And now, we have to go gather with Ying’er and Sima. The sixty fourth commander grade Demon Hung Squad is reforming. No, the day it will reform, it will be at the king grade.”
“Mh, mh…” Wang Yuanyuan was empty of words, as her tears flowed uncontrollably.
Because of her lack of confidence, she was probably the one who had the most painful times in the team: for close to two years she struggled to the brink of death almost every day, finding breakthroughs in desperate battles. This was so that she wouldn’t be left behind by the others, for the day they would be able to reform their team.
Long Haochen came, and Cai’er, Han Yu, Lin Xin as well. They haven’t forgotten me, and they came for me. So our Demon Hunt Squad is finally reforming! This instant, Wang Yuanyuan felt totally emptied of force, finally relaxing her stretched mental state, unable to control her emotions anymore.
Long Haochen returned her to Zhang Fangfang’s arms, “Brother Zhang, thank you.”
Zhang Fangfang sighed lightly, “All I did regarding Yuanyuan was only for my own sake. I haven’t been able to protect my comrades, so if I am not even able to protect her, then I can only follow her in that fate.”
Long Haochen said next, “While Yuanyuan is unstable emotionally, I’ll be leaving her to brother Zhang’s protection. Let’s have a chat after this battle is over.”
As he raised his right hand, Rippling Light appeared in his grasp. The extremity of his foot tapping onto the ground, Long Haochen arrived at Han Yu’s side in one movement.
By simply observing the situation, one could see that Lin Xin and Cai’er were on the offense, with Han Yu standing on defense. As long as no enemy powerhouse over the eighth step came, this defensive front would hardly be broken.
Long Haochen drew back rapidly, reached Han Yu’s back, and then started chanting resonantly.
Ever since coming out of seclusion, Long Haochen often became closer to a light elemental mage. Furthermore, his light elemental spells were far more powerful than mages’. The affinity of a god’s chosen one with his element made him frequently able to unleash magic far above his own rank.
At the time he studied in the cave, Long Haochen focused mostly on defensive Guardian Knight abilities and healing ones. By relying on his great advantages as a god’s chosen one, he could even maintain a domain for some time, just like a Holy Knight of the ninth step. This was also where those few forbidden spells of light element came from. Book 35, The Aeonian Race, Chapter 16 – A Calamity Descends
The black-robed Primaltwin Ji Ning spent all of its time within the Three Realms, accompanying his family members and enjoying a life of leisure. Ning’s true body, however, continued to fearless advance and improve, not slacking off in the slightest! If he had, he wouldn’t have reached such a terrifying level of power.
A young man and a woman were standing at the prow of a large ship that was cruising through the waves of a vast sea.
“Senior apprentice-brother, you’ve grown much more powerful and have reached the Foundation stage. You’ll definitely be ranked in the top three within our clan’s tournament. In fact, you might even take first place!” the green-robed woman said excitedly.
“I was able to reach the Foundation stage, but the others might have made breakthroughs of their own. The clan competition will have three thousand disciples competing within it. Seizing first place is not going to be an easy task,” the black-robed youth said. His words were modest, but a hint of a smile was playing at his lips.
He truly had made tremendous gains this time. He had no idea who that old fisherman was, but the man was incredibly powerful. That casual finger-wave had contained unfathomably profundity within it.
Sanchuan sighed again: “You are too upright and frank. First, you have offended the Seventh Hall, and just now, you ended up killing four more geniuses from the Tenth Hall. Even a half-Giant would die if they caused so much trouble.”
There was a saying: if the heretical schools want someone dead, not even the king of hell can save them.
“You think I’m someone who is afraid of trouble?” Feng Feiyun was annoyed to see the white daoist robe under Lu Sanchuan’s black cloak. A great prodigy had such a weak mind that he willingly became a slave for the heretical schools while murdering his own peers.
Sanchuan shook his head: “If you were someone who was afraid of trouble, you wouldn’t be standing here right now. However, I don’t think you see the overall picture too well. Allow me to elaborate. There was a Divine Commander under the Omni-Heaven Marquis with peerless fighting prowess named Ji Moba.”
“His fighting abilities surely must be peerless if he became a Divine Commander.” Feng Feiyun revealed a shocked and excited look befitting a Thousand-man Commander when listening to a story about a Divine Commander.
A Divine Commander was in charge of one million, a rank countless times higher than a Thousand-man Commander.
Lu Sanchuan insipidly said stated: “Yes, but he is now dead because he offended an elder from the Seventh Hall half a year ago. In the middle of a dark night in January, all 3,873 members in his mansion were massacred. 3,854 were cut down, and even his head was chopped off and hung at the entrance.”
Ji Moba indeed died half a year ago. Someone slaughtered his entire mansion overnight. This had been a mystery so far, so if Sanchuan didn’t reveal it just now, no one would know that it was the heretical schools who committed the deed.
Feng Feiyun smiled in response: “Well, nineteen people are still alive! It looks like the heretical schools can’t do whatever they want, some still managed to escape.”
Sanchuan shook his head: “The nineteen who survived are suffering even more. Five of them are Moba’s concubines while the other fourteen are his daughters. They are imprisoned at the Lust Palace back in the Seventh Hall. Any disciple who gained some contribution would be able to enjoy them. After half a year, only seven are still alive. Of course, they were broken and used, so they were sold to a brothel a while ago.”
Feng Feiyun turned silent for a moment before bursting out in laughter: “Haha! But I am alone without a wife or daughter.”
Sanchuan glared at him for a bit and became exasperated: ‘Motherfucker, this Feng Daniu is such an idiot, that’s not what I’m insinuating at all!’
He snorted: “I am simply telling you the truth. Offending our Seventh Hall carries grave consequences.”
Feiyun replied: “It does seem pretty serious from what you have said.”
Sanchuan sneered in his mind: ‘Looks like this guy still knows fear. That is for the best then.’
He continued on: “Our lord wishes to recruit you for our Seventh Hall to become her protector. All of the previous grudges can be forgotten, what do you think, General Feng?”
He finally got to the crux of the matter!
Feiyun revealed a contemplating expression, so Sanchuan stood there waiting silently. He believed that even if he was slow-witted, he would still be afraid of death.
“Impossible. My responsibility is to purge heretics like you to maintain justice and peace, so how can I be in cahoots with you? Your Seventh Hall isn’t shit! Anyway, the deed is done. If you want to kill me, you will have to ask my fist first.” Feng Feiyun declared this with a righteous and cool demeanor. He spat out his saliva more than ten meters away, splashing all over Sanchuan’s face.
“Well said!” The Young Marquis couldn’t help but cheer from the distance.
He had been in the martial army’s camp for some time during his trips. Even though the soldiers there were all hot-blooded heroes, very few of them had Feng Daniu’s firm courage.
His desire to recruit this person grew even stronger.
“It is the dynasty’s fortune to have such a great soldier. This Feng Daniu shall be mine.” The princess firmly spoke, showing her great evaluation of this Thousand-man Commander while not allowing outsiders to meddle.
The commander himself was exceedingly rare. He had a fearless heart and a never-bowing head on top of being loyal to the dynasty. In her mind, if she could recruit him and train him as her confidant, he would be even more valuable than Shi Yelai.
She was telling him that she had his back since he was a soldier of the dynasty and that there was no need to be afraid of the heretical schools. Of course, this was also her warning to everyone here to not have any ideas about him since she has chosen him.
Despite her lofty status and position, she couldn’t suppress everyone. After all, there were many young scions here with great identities. They began to think about a backup strategy since it was impossible to give up on such an invincible genius.
The most important part was that this genius was fearless yet principled. Anyone would want to have a subordinate like him.
The Tenth Lord was also tempted and secretly sent a message to Nalan Xuezang. Xuezang’s ears slightly twitched after hearing this, then he revealed a gloomy smile: “Daniu, there are two paths before you.”
Feng Feiyun asked: “And what might they be?”
“The first is to submit to my Tenth Hall, the second is to die to my hands.” Xuezang gently rubbed his palms while smirking, but this expression was quite frightening.
If he couldn’t be recruited, then he must be eliminated.
Feng Feiyun became even more unruly with his response: “Your father is already angry and only came to kill some heretical bastard. If I were to join the heretical schools, won’t I become a bastard as well?”
All of the pagoda’s disciples stood up and loudly applauded. They were full of admiration and goodwill for this Thousand-man Commander.
Sanchuan scowled; he knew that the commander was cursing them: “Ignorant madman, if you want to die, then I’ll help you out.”
He clearly received the same order as Xuezang, and that was to kill Feng Daniu if he didn’t submit.
A chilling cloud emerged above his head. The temperature suddenly plummeted by a dozen degrees. The delicate apricot flowers froze and became harder than iron. Three large icebergs flew out from this cloud.
The tip of these icebergs was even sharper than a sword. The temperature dropped once more, causing the ground to crack.
“Hell-Ice Technique’s sixth level, Hell Iceberg!” Mu Tantian was startled since he knew that this was Sanchuan’s ultimate art.
This youth was initially a supreme genius from the pagoda with talents only below Shi Yelai. Two years ago, Tantian fought against him and lost after just nine moves. At that point, Sanchuan was only at the fifth level of his technique.
After two years, he opened 330 meridians and his cultivation rose countless times. He was only one step away from having all 360 meridians.
A disciple from the pagoda wanted to test the power of these icebergs, so he threw a medium-level treasure in the form of an iron jewel towards the sky.
“Boom!” However, this jewel only managed to reach ten meters before it started cracking from the cold temperature. Lines similar to spiderwebs appeared on the surface.
Sanchuan might be weak-willed, but his talents were indeed frightening and infinitely close to the Grand Historical level. He could rival Chengfeng and Ji Feng.
Feng Feiyun fiercely stomped on the ground in order to leap up and unleashed a white wave of energy more than thirty meters long like a round moon illuminating the sky. Its blinding brilliance made it difficult to keep one’s eyes open.
The cold energy couldn’t stop this slash from Feng Feiyun! The wave split into thirty-six rays of energy and darted through the air while cutting apart the wind.
“Boom!” The three icebergs fell down and turned into little icy blocks like a swarm of meteors, creating many pits on the ground.
Feng Feiyun landed with his saber. The black armor on his body had a thick layer of ice on it while his weapon had a crack, indicating that it was damaged.
“Pa! Pa! Pa!” A string of cracking sounds came about. This saber shattered shortly afterward; only the hilt was left in his grasp. One could see just how cold the temperature of the Hell Iceberg technique was!
“Haha! Feng Daniu, you are no stronger than this. How are you going to fight me now without a blade?” Sanchuan mockingly smiled: ‘This is the limit of this Thousand-man Commander.’
Many people didn’t like looking at this heretical servant. A lot of the female disciples from the pagoda had been caught because of Sanchuan’s tip-offs.
A piece of scum willingly becoming a servant and killing his own peers was even worse than the heretical disciples.
Some disciples of the pagoda wanted to take out their weapons in order to help the Thousand-man Command kill this dog. However, Feng Feiyun politely refused.
“So what if I don’t have a weapon? I’m even stronger unarmed!” Feng Feiyun’s forty divine intents condensed in his mind with a rotating radiance that eventually erupted from his body.
A black divine light hovered in the sky with fire and lightning jumping inside.
“Minor Change Art, Heaven Punishment Hammer!” A hammer several hundred meters high appeared once more along with his surging battle intent. It looked like a thunder god had descended in order to slam this divine hammer down on Sanchuan. Chapter 307: Nine Swords Protection
Sanchuan cast his Hell Iceberg again in order to stop the incoming hammer. Three icebergs towered in the sky, but they were easily shattered by the hammer.
Nothing could resist this Heaven Punishing Hammer.
“Boom!” A trail of blood ran down Sanchuan’s fair arm. His body sank into the ground as if he was being buried alive.
This hammer was too powerful. With the Minor Change Art, one could borrow a sliver of this legendary forbidden weapon for their own use. Techniques from heavenly scriptures were not necessarily a match for it.
Feng Feiyun had learned five percent of the Minor Change Art and could use two different techniques. The Heaven Punishing Hammer was one of them. A forbidden weapon from the old era was unstoppable. Even a mere shadow of it could break all the laws in this world.
Lu Sanchuan jumped out of the mud and took out his white daoist robe. It spun around in the sky with white, snakeskin patterns and turned much larger just like a spatial pouch.
It was full of talismans written from the powders of spirit stones inside this robe. There was a total of 720 talismans that flashed bright lights like heavenly lamps. They had turned this robe into its own world. No wonder why after joining the Seventh Hall, he still didn’t take off this daoist robe. So it had such a mysterious usage.
Feng Feiyun flipped over his palm for another attack. A black ray rushed out while the hammer slammed down. The majestic power of an iron mountain shattered dozens of talismans in the robe, but it didn’t break through completely. The attack was akin to throwing a rock at a net made out of yarn.
The white robe with blue clouds floating around it wrapped around Feng Feiyun.
“Haha! This is too easy. You really are a brute who can’t do anything else.” Sanchuan sneered. A light flashed in his palm as he recalled the robe to his hand.
This robe could contain an entire domain so it was only natural that it could also take in a person.
The pagoda’s disciples had ugly expressions. Feng Daniu had also lost to this dog Sanchuan, even his body was taken into his spatial robe. It was all over this time.
“Boom!” The white robe quaked intensely and swelled into the size of a hall. It seemed to be on the verge of exploding.
“This bastard…” Sanchuan was aghast and quickly unleashed his ice technique in order to freeze the spatial pouch, but it was too late. The pouch was shattered by the spirit vessel that has expanded to more than seventy meters long.
While wielding a corner of the vessel, the Thousand-man Commander rushed forward like a mountain and directly slammed it on Sanchuan’s head. A piece of his skull flew out along with half of his head.
“Boom!” Sanchuan spun around five times in the air before rolling on the ground.
“Son of a bitch, killing your own sect members is punishable by death!” Feng Feiyun thunderously roared and continued to attack with his vessel. Sanchuan desperately resisted and summoned five different treasures. Alas, they were shattered by the light of the vessel and turned into powder.
“Crack!” One of Sanchuan’s thigh broke as the vessel slammed into him again, sending him flying with blood splashing all over his clothes. The black cloak on his body became tattered like fluttering black butterflies.
“Die, you cowardly traitor!” The rusty vessel slammed down again and shattered his arm, leaving behind a bloody gap on his shoulder.
The power of the vessel was too mighty; just one blow was enough to kill him. However, Feng Feiyun didn’t want him to die this easily.
“Please stop, I beg you!” Sanchuan was indeed a coward and began to beg without the backbone of a cultivator at all.
The entire scene was filled with jeers. It wasn’t just the disciples from the pagoda, even the heretical members from the Seventh Hall were embarrassed and glared at him with disdain.
Despite being ferocious and evil, the heretics were courageous. Huang Daonan and Hei Fengyan died to Feng Feiyun without uttering a single plea.
Cultivators shouldn’t only have pride, courage was necessary as well. Otherwise, what was the point of cultivating if you were to prostrate and beg for mercy after taking two hits?
“Hitting you will only dirty my hands, but I must make a display of killing a dog like you.” Feng Feiyun’s red eyes were full of murderous intent; he truly wanted to kill.
Sanchuan naturally felt this bloodthirst and knew that begging was useless. He gritted his teeth and stood with one leg while intending to fight to the very end.
“You leave me with no choice! Oh heavens, take my boiling blood and grant me strength!”
Blood stopped flowing from his severed arm since it began to boil in the air. His 330 meridians spun like vortexes as they crazily absorbed the spirit energy in the surroundings.
“Seventh level Hell-ice Technique, Ice World!” This was Sanchuan’s final card. He burned up half of his lifespan in order to utilize all of his potential for this Ice World technique.
The area turned into a world of ice. The sky was blue; even the air turned blue as numerous floating icebergs engulfed the Apricot Mansion. The trees here were frozen completely.
This Ice World technique was five times stronger than the Hell Iceberg.
“Don’t even think about it.” Feng Feiyun was completely frozen with a thick layer of ice over his arms, but this didn’t diminish his bloodthirst. The other hand controlling the vessel moved even faster. A large section of the Ice World was smashed open.
He withdrew the vessel and directly jumped into the Ice World. Next, he lifted Sanchuan up above his head and mercilessly slammed him into the ground, splitting his body into several pieces. Blood splashed all over Feng Feiyun’s armor and began to drip down.
“Boom!” Sanchuan has been smashed to death!
The Ice World collapsed, exposing a man wearing blood-stained armor standing in the chilling wind with his stalwart pose.
This picture looked like the last soldier on the battlefield. There were corpses all over him, yet he didn’t falter. No one could take him down.
Even a great genius like Lu Fengcheng felt suffocated. Where did this butcher come from? Will he not stop until he kills every single heretical disciple?
Ji Feng intensely stared at this commander with a glimmer in his eyes. He felt that this scene was very familiar. Feng Feiyun was also the same as he led others to their deaths. After all, many geniuses had fallen to Feiyun’s hands as well.
“This Daniu is too badass, he even took down Sanchuan.” Although the pagoda’s disciples all hoped for Sanchuan to die, they were still caught off guard by this scene. After all, Sanchuan was famous at the pagoda for many years, so people felt that his death was unreal.
The smile on Nalan Xuezang’s face disappeared long ago. He stared at Feng Feiyun and considered him to be a formidable foe. The nine swords floating behind his back continuously jittered.
“Swoosh!” All nine swords left their sheaths at once and hovered in front of him while their tips still issuing metallic rings pointed at Feiyun.
This was a phenomenon called “nine swords protecting their master”. Even the swords felt pressured in the face of a supreme opponent and automatically flew out to protect Xuezang.
“Return!” Xuezang shouted and the nine swords flew back into their sheaths like obedient children.
Feng Feiyun naturally saw this. To be able to train his swords to this degree, this Xuezang wasn’t simple at all. Who knows how much effort he had spent in order to reach the level of “swords as slaves”?
